I have to say, working on this level was pretty chaotic. Not only did I not know how to use the tileset, but I had to balance it.
The layout is basicly two distinct sides, each a sort of vertically flipped version of the other. The level is made for 2 vs 2 games, but going up to 3 vs 3 can be done. Any higher and the game will start to get frustrating. There are 4 powerups and 2 full NRG carrots in this level, but if you actually take the time to play this online for testing it, you will see that they do not make the gameplay too extreme. It’s very easy to defend in this level, and a game requires lots of strategy to win. I spent two days working on this level, but that is two days of extremely hard work.PS: Aiko, if you are reading this, I didn’t put a single player level start in this level! The reason for this is because it would interfere with the MP starts, and I don’t want that to happen.
Ok, here I go again by just picking a CTF level to review.
First impressions: A level by EvilMike of OLC and DM, that uses a tileset that isn’t used alot which is good, yes.
Gameplay: Good/Very Good. The gameplay seems nice, but there are some things I dislike here. The layout is interesting, it’s very nice imo. Why? There are a sort of two sides in this level. You need to go in a tube to enter the other side I think. I like that, and it looks very nice. There are some dead ends here and there, but it are small ones. There is a nice spring placement(like there always is in good CTF levels). And again, there is also good use of one way. Like I said, the use of tubes is very nice too. The only bad thing here is the flow. This level seems hard to learn.
Conclusion gameplay: Very nice, but hard to learn.
Eye candy/Tileset use: Very Good. No real complaints about the eye candy here, but it’s confusing in some places imo. The tileset use is excellent, I love it. There is good use of bricks and that glowing things look very nice too. There are alot of animations too, and I love them too.
Conclusion eye candy/tileset use: Just very nice.
Pickup placement: Good/Very Good. Yes, this is very nice again. I will explain. There is a nice ammo placement. There is good carrot placement(and original). There is 1 full energy at each side, but it’s very original, because it looks that easy to get to them, but you need to take a long way to get one. There are MP starts that take you close to it, and I like it. Power-Up placement is as good as it needs to be. There are 4 Power-Ups. One Seeker PU at the left side, that’s close to the base, one RF PU farther away from the base at the left side, one Bouncy PU close to the right base, and one Toaster PU farther away from the right base. There is also a gun barrel in the level, and there is six fast fire in the centre of the level.
Conclusion Pickup placement: Very nice, but not as good as in Distopia or other nice levels.
Originality: Good/Very Good. This level is very original, and I give the complete points for it that I can give(8.5). Why? First off, the layout of the level. Second, the eye candy in the level. Third, The full energy placement. And fourth, the tileset use.
Conclusion originality: Very original.
Fun Factor: This level seems very fun to play. Why? because it’s not a level with a straight way to the base. There are two ways to the bases at the two sides. The way to the base is not too fast, and that makes it even more fun.
Conclusion Fun Factor: A very fun level.
Others: Host this: Yes, I haven’t seen this level hosted alot.
Download: Definetely.
Conclusion level: A very nice level by EvilMike that is very original and fun to play, the bad thing is that it’s not too easy to learn.
Rating: 8.4- 8.5.

This level is a nice looking, easy to move around in, CTF level. There arn’t any eye candy errors that I could see, well, not any that can be fixed with this tileset, the level feels like a real CTF level, because by using the blue and red colours, and not the green or purple, it makes the level feel like your in each others teritory. I prefure levels that some how indicate that half of the level belongs to your team, and the other belongs to the other. In normal CTF levels, I find that people seem to just have 2 little rooms at 2 edges of the level and nothing else is colour coded.
The level is easy to move around in, good ammo placement, the only thing I don’t like is that the blue base has the seeker powerup very close to it, and the red base has only the boucy powerup, to make this more even, I think you should swap the bouncy powerup with the 3way powerup, that is at the bottom of the level somewhere. It would just make it more fair!
Well, I think thats summoned it up, its an ‘easy to move around in’ level using a ‘hard to use’ tileset called ‘Neonius’ by Bluez
PS: I think type should be CTF, not other :p
Yah, i agree with most of the things what Et has said. Only one thing: For some strange reason this lvl is very big for ME, it tooks long before you get to the other base…
Well the Eyecandy is fine and the ammo is placed good ( Maybe a bit too much Ammo ). But anyway A Download Recommendation! And a Eight.
I played this level on a server yesterday and it was VERY good! Easy navigation and good eyecandy for a custom tileset!
Download? Yep!
(but WHY download CTF / Battle / etc. maps if you just DOWNLOAD them anyway when you play them on a server!??) Just a though =)
Anyway, nice level!
8.7 it is! (I’m not the biggest CTF fan)
hehe Neonius a very good tileset. I like this level. It has many paths you can go in and doesn’t force you to go in a specific route (like some of my levs :( ) As always keep it up Lord of Evilness ;P.
Good work here Mike, I love the layout and the similarity of the two sides with flipped stuff and all. Makes for great 2 vs 2 play (as I know).
Download this.
Brilliant work by EvilMike need I say more? The brilliant tileset Neonius very hard to use and evilmike has done brilliantly with it
D/L recommendation from me :)
Hmmmm……Even though the tileset is hard to use, mike made the best of it. The thing that prevents me from giving it a 9 is that there are a few dead ends and that take 0.01 away from the mark and that it is hard to move around in. I cant tell which way i need to go and stuff like that so it takes 4.99 away from the mark. Download reccomendation?Sure…….That is all
