man this is the most awful mappool i've ever seen. first of all, why can't you just choose the best, most well-known 7 levels that everyone always sticks to? this would only make matches a lot more challenging and entertaining and avoid the outcome of strange results. using an excuse like "i want to try out new levels!!!" wouldn't make sense in such a serious tourney which is also the first of a kind.

- BloodBunny's Lair
- Diamondus Warzone
- Happy Semiconductor CTF
- Jungle's Edge
- Marshland of Evil
- Medieval Skyscrapers
- Security Breach v2

i'll tell you that due to past experience, levels like Sacrifice(!!!!!!), Helldome and Zaitox just don't work when it comes to serious competitive tourneys. levels like Atmospherical, Charnel Keep and Russian Sattelite are simply not in the same tyer of those i've listed above. AYB, QQ and Atom Heart might be nice but obviously not for 6 players.

and Purplejazz7's opinion about DW isn't weird at all, in fact many people think the same, but on the contrary it's a pure classic and therefore must be kept in the mappool.

on a side note, you should just use the structure, method and rules of JJ2WC II (which is also the structure of most video game tourneys in the world) and you'd finally avoid repeating those beginner mistakes.

Quickz Feb 15, 2007 06:11 AM

I think I have to agree with R3p.

Anyway, if you wanna stick to this mappool, please add Personal Park and Chlorophyll World to it. I doubt Sacrifice is a good choise, since I predict some spawning problems with the copters. AYB might be too small for a decent 3vs3, as R3p said before.

Vegito Feb 15, 2007 06:23 AM

Well, yes.
For the sake of a good tournament, get lost with crap levels -_-

Grytolle Feb 15, 2007 08:54 AM

What r3p said, plz.

Yes. I agree. It looks like that's what we all would love to see. The problem is that Emp didn't participate in JJ2WC so he might not know well how it works ;;

However, I have different opinion than R3p about Zaitox and Helldome (Sacrifice also isn't that bad, I have good memories with it from JJ2WC II, though), I agree mostly with that what he said ;P

The mappol should be smaller. 10 levels is really enough. You should kick out levels like Radiation, AYB, and ur own, because they are just TOO SMALL AND NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR 3vs3 in such big tournament. Maybe sth else too.

R3ptile Feb 15, 2007 09:53 AM

don't know about Sacrifice, i personally wouldn't want my nation to be knocked out just because someone pressed the shoot button more after he spawned.

and please, no more than 7 levels. keep in mind we've been playing only 4 levels (Semi, BBLAIR and sometimes also DW and JE) over the past months.

[GpW]Urbs Feb 15, 2007 10:13 AM

team slovenia is playing this for fun, and thus fully agrees with the levels, even though we haven't had the pleasure to play in some of them.

I just think people shouldnt make too big a deal when it comes to these levels, sure, rep would pick some other levels, some1 else would pick some other levels, but heck after all its up to wallace.

Have some faith, and we can all have a fun tournament, no matter the levels.
I'm sure all the teams will give it their best shot to try and win, the whole thing should be interesting and lets not worry too much over the map pool. Hell arguing over the map pool is a bottomless pit...time consuming and not much else.
If you're like team slovenia, who isnt aiming for the top, you don't care, if you're like team israel which has a fair chance of winning, I suggest you stop waisting your breath here and start training on levels where you're not good enough.

snzspeed Feb 15, 2007 10:14 AM

i never got whats the problem with mappools with lots of levels

R3ptile Feb 15, 2007 10:31 AM

well i just talked to snooze and others in #craccoclan and we agreed that using the mappool i suggested (or at least something very similiar) would be the best choice for you Emp.

HàTéBrèéD[MF] Feb 15, 2007 11:16 AM

Oh R3p you often hear and stay shine in the popular agreement of us : I agree, too XD.

So the map pool is in my opinion fine: regularly duel maps in the big part are the right way to receive all the skills of the teams. (In each other they could maybe get lost and in comes in trouble)
Fine..

DarkSonic Feb 15, 2007 12:48 PM

It's boring to play the same levels all the time. And that there are lots of levels doesn't mean you have to play all of them. And that we want to try new levels is a pretty good excuse in my opinion. I just don't know what makes those levels that are played so often so special. Anyway, good luck with the tourney.

Raven aka StL Feb 15, 2007 12:53 PM

*sigh*

... You know you could have said that a slight bit more... let's say...
gentlemanly...

Well, w/e...

-> Mappool edited, due to majority of people using democracy as a weapon <-

R3ptile Feb 15, 2007 01:11 PM

much better now.

but still, Atom Heart is not too great when it comes to 3v3's, even the author himself has claimed so. we honestly don't get why you insist to keep Charnel Keep in the mappool, it doubtlessly sucks. you can consider replacing those levels by Technodus Cargo Station and Marshland of Evil, for instance.

Grytolle Feb 15, 2007 01:17 PM

Raven aka StL Feb 16, 2007 04:17 AM

Ah, marsh. Good idea.

I don't get that Cargo Station part though...
And Charnel Keep is an ok level.
Atom Heart owned in a 4v4 about 2 months ago ;p

cooba Feb 16, 2007 04:22 AM

Charnel Keep is certainly not ok for a serious team game.

sry br ;(

R3ptile Feb 16, 2007 04:36 AM

just "ok" levels are not what you should be looking for.

Grytolle Feb 16, 2007 06:20 AM

That 4v4 in Atom Heart wasn't good at all, and neither is Charnel Keep (which I've always insisted on^^)

Raven aka StL Feb 16, 2007 07:49 AM

Ugh...
You clearly lack the eye for true art by means of JJ2 levels... :p
Charnel Keep is a clear top 30 ctf level... Ever...
Although, it is yet highly possible to find contaminated opinions, w/e.
CK ain't in the Mappool anymore so forget about it thanks...

NEWS!

The first pairs will be announced around 20.00 gmt this evening, stay tuned.

The teams themselves should try and organize the matches... or they should talk to me about it and I'll see what I can do.
If some matches haven't been played by sunday 6.00 am gmt... Then the team leaders (and other members) will be contacted about it and will be negotiated with about a suitable time to play. (I won't be telling any pairs before tonight, regards). =p

OMG. You still didn't get it that if YOU don't set the DATE AND TIME of EACH GAME, THE TOURNAMENT WILL CERTAINLY FAIL? IMPRESSIVE. :O
All what I want is to see this tournament working EXACTLY AS JJ2WC. If you let the teams to organize their games, this will end like Sucer's Tourney.
JUST MAKE A SHEDULE FOR ALL GAMES and SET THE HOURS WHEN GAMES HAVE TO BE PLAYED (AT THE WEEKEND of course).

+A rule that one team can postpone their games only 2 times would be great, though.

[GpW]Urbs Feb 16, 2007 09:55 AM

hmm rep, didnt we organise date and time by ourselves during the jj2wc? I'm not sure, but i think we did, and the whole tourney didn't fail.

But i hope u do realise wallace ur gonna have to be online like A LOT to get teams in contact with one another etc... I know that for example I don't have any1 from team germany on my msn...

R3ptile Feb 16, 2007 10:05 AM

this is how your tourney should work

divide the teams to 2 groups with 6 teams in each. make them as much balanced as possible.

every week, each team should face another from its own group. announce the date, time and level for every match in the beginning of the week, giving all teams 5-6 days to prepare themselves (not only practice, but also make sure all players can make it). matches should usually take place in saturdays.

every match should be parted to 2 rounds, each round limited to 20 points or 20 minutes. in the second round, the team that's played as blue would swap to red, and vice versa. in case the score is still tied after both rounds, add 5 minutes.

after 5 weeks, when all teams have supposedly completed their matches, start the knock-out stage (single elimination). the 2 highest ranked teams from each group should qualify.

that's all. quite simple ain't it? but it's much more entertaining and thrilling than your method and also doesn't take too long so teams like israel wouldn't have to forfeit :-)

nope, i did, unless a team would've reported they couldn't make it.

[GpW]Urbs Feb 16, 2007 10:08 AM

ahh, ok... i remember:)

But u did help arrange stuff and all..

Bogdan GF Feb 16, 2007 10:19 AM

at what hour the tournament will start i know friday but what hour ???

HàTéBrèéD[MF] Feb 16, 2007 10:29 AM

20:00 did Wallace said.
Wallace I have to organize a duel to another group? but how much versus how much??? all vs all or one by one?

[GpW]Urbs Feb 16, 2007 11:14 AM

hmm 20:24 and still nothing:)

[GpW]Urbs Feb 16, 2007 11:22 AM

w8, if its gmt, doesnt he still have time?

Raven aka StL Feb 16, 2007 11:58 AM

There has been now... a slight change...
Every team faces every team once, not twice, which would take too long.
The first round pairs are as follows:

Australia - United Kingdom (Sat 17th, 14.00 GMT)
Belgium - Sweden (Sat 17th, 15.00 GMT)
Finland - Slovenia (Sat 17th, 16.00 GMT)
Germany - Romania (Sat 17th, 17.00 GMT)
Israel - Poland (Sat 17th, 18.00 GMT)
Italy - Netherlands (Sat 17th, 19.00 GMT)

-The host must log the match, that goes for all matches.
(Carrotade is recommended)
-If the above times don't work, u may postpone your matches, but really try you best to play them before sunday evening, will ya?
-Anyone both teams can agree on may host the matches.
Official hosts include me, Sasik and Vegito (Though he doesn't seem too motivated.)
-Each match is best out of 3 rounds (which are to 5 points, each!). Teams can agree on which team chooses their level in the first round and which in the second.
If there are disagreements, the alphabetically first team chooses first.
The third round may be played in any mappool level both teams can agree on.
Again, if there's no agreement, it will be played in a standard level, such as Semi, BBlair or JE.
-Whichever team is blue in the first round will be red in the second. The third round team colors may be agreed on. If agreement isn't made, the team that has the worse score difference till then may choose their team color.

cooba Feb 16, 2007 12:04 PM

(I'd start a new thread instead)

[GpW]Urbs Feb 16, 2007 12:05 PM

me too, and dang, FINLAND FOR THE FIRST GAME... gl us

Sasik Feb 16, 2007 02:34 PM

Well, but are we divided in any groups, or all teams are in one division?... What the hell is the structure of this Torunament?
Also, the number of 'official hosts' is too small imo. Trying to find a good host just before a match isn't easy, though ;l
I have a bad feeling about this tourney, but let's hope this won't end as pure crap. That's all what we can do. ;l

Btw. I see that there is no website, right? You could make even some simply one, like this what QZ's made for his tourney. But maybe this isn't the most important thing, however it could help a lot.
Eh.

Raven aka StL Feb 16, 2007 02:44 PM

It was carefully explained earlier that all teams are a whole, no groups.
The number of official hosts is small, yes, but it can't be helped, I've asked plenty of people. Of course, I will carry on doing that.
And actually there is a site which will be informed about soon enough.
That is, when it's totally finished up to the point.

And it would be nice if you'd not only look for ways to put down this tournament, say something positive too will ya?! ;/

So, this is league? That's not good idea, imo. You had better listen R3p once again ;P
I also think that you should have set the pairs (or tell about them) much earlier ;/

Uhm...
I expect that this will be funny and exciting tournament :H

HàTéBrèéD[MF] Feb 17, 2007 04:41 AM

maybe all members from German group are not online at 17:00 o'clock. Sasik and Vegito host the matches?

Raven aka StL Feb 17, 2007 08:37 AM

If the times aren't fine, postspone your matches / talk to the other team about a good time, in the meanwhile tell me and I'll think of a new time for u.

Also, league is a perfectly good idea, Sasik.
And the pairs, that's what u may be correct about, alas, I did it how I did.

Post match results here: http://www.jazz2online.com/jcf/showthread.php?t=16514
and have whoever hosted them send me any logs they took...

Anubis Feb 22, 2007 04:56 AM
