Just for the sake of using a forum image:

Additionally, this is dumb. It's clans on a game. There's no honor to it. If you want honor, become a vigilante ninja or something and stop ruining it for those of us who just want to have fun.

Fun! ON THE INTERNET!

Chiyu Apr 17, 2004 03:08 AM

I'm not ruining it for anyone, I just can't stand it when people like Newspaz lie about me all the time!!! I've challenged GpW A LOT of times in JJ2 and I got sooo much proof, so?
And next time if it happens I won't hold in either, no matter if I get another warning or ban. I'm usually very quiet and polite BUT do not lie about me (or any of my close friends, for that matter) behind my back to ruin my/our reputation, because then I really get (mad). =D

Derby: Content replacement. A filtered word was replaced with a more suitable one.

Newspaz Apr 17, 2004 04:14 PM

Well, you challenged us and we challenged you. It's absolutely not true that we never had wars going on. I think it happened once that CC didn't show up, and once the other way around. Two other wars weren't played because fights started before we even could start playing. And one war was won 10 - 0 (or 10 - 1) by GpW. It has to be said though that CC's warteam was a big mess at that time.

When you finally got your stuff together earlier last year most arguments were settled already and GpW was pretty much inactive.

Tubz Apr 17, 2004 05:18 PM

Lol, Cracco, hold down your temper, don't get so angry, just a game anyway :D. Huh, anyway how about it, want me to start a CC division on Zbattle (ZSNES multitap/multiplayer)?

Whats the value of a jj2 CW ?

Tubz Apr 19, 2004 01:49 PM

^^

Good question!

-20,000 points on Commander Keen, 2 extra lives
-A trip to go on a Monopoly game board
-Free trips to Universal Studios, Disney Word and Disney Land
-Incredibly unfair and unrealistically realistic bragging rights

Chiyu Apr 20, 2004 08:21 AM

@ Shadow: JJ2 is CC's first game, UT is just something extra, that's why the value of JJ2 clanwars is so much higher for us.

@ Tublear: Sorry but I can't hold my temper when someone lies about something that's quote important for me or CC in general. And about Zsnes, I think it's a little hard to do clanwars there isn't it? We were on N64 roms and it didn't work well either..

ps. i'm talking about a freaking PCW (Practice ClanWar) not a ClanBase offical cup or ladder war. Nobody freaking cares about a PCW in the UT world.

Enigma Apr 21, 2004 01:20 AM

"Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Scientific research has proven that clanwars in any game have no value whatsoever! Telling people in real life you won a clanwar will make them look at you in a funny way and make them think you are a [cookie]! Games do not affect real life! Read all about it in our extra edition!"

In other words, arguing about clanwars in games and being offended by what people you don't/hardly even know in real life is fairly pointless. Go do something better with your time. Go for a bike ride. Or write your memoires. Or go play pingpong. Or build a palace out of pebbles and sticks. Or learn the dictionary by heart. Whatever, just put your mind to other things.

Read my last reply. I'm not the liar here.

Haha, I kinda notice how just about all GPW members are trying to deny CB's argument and say he's wrong.

Tell me whats the value then? What can you win from Jj2. There is NO 3rd party site recording. NO Cups, NO ladders, Nothing ?

Trafton Apr 21, 2004 02:05 PM

Something has been bothering me lately. Games are games, for God's sake. They are nothing more than games, and nothing less. Maybe six people in the entire world could make a comfortable living playing on them. Why bother trying to master them and get money? If you want to do something that you would make money off of, start learning a job skill. Video games will not get you through your life.

Any idea of arguing that another game is pointless because you cannot climb a proverbial ladder is sort of silly. Games are made for fun. There does not need to be any sort of official score site to make them fun. I suppose having tournaments and stuff is cool, but only when it's at least 80 per cent for fun.

It is equally dumb to argue over people who do not understand that games are supposed to be enjoyable competition, not excessive competition. LAN parties were created for friendly competitiveness, not for cut-throat bashing of clans (and I won't even get into how clans have been warped.) Older, hardcore gamers would be ashamed to see you all defending honor instead of having fun.

Sure, what's the use of a $300 graphics card if you can't show it off? But there's no need to get offended. Trust me - the more someone tries to defend their honor, the less honorable they appear. The biggest insult to one's opponent is to judge them inferior of a reply. And you all have fallen into that trap.

In conclusion: SHUP THX.

Some games evolved to e-Sports. Once you win in those games (money!). Trust me it's addictive. Our team won in 2 years of RTCW in total of 175,610 USD so yeah you stick around because of that.

Games are slowly evolving to a real sport in some counteries. Korea has it how-ever already accepted as a main public sport. Soccer/FootBall is for them still no 1. But Gaming is on 2nd place.

Anyhow Trafton. I suggest you not to talk about it if you haven't been close to it at all.

Yeah, me too, but my argument is solid and I'm not going to change my point of view.

Btw: we're not planning on winning anything at all, we just have JJ2 as priority over UT.

Newspaz Apr 22, 2004 08:13 AM

I'm right. And I explained somewhere up here......

$175,610 is a good deal of money, but when you consider how it must be divided, it is not so large. A yearly income of $87,805 is indeed good, but even on a five member team (which is conservative if I am correct and most gaming teams are more than five members) that is only $17,561 a year per person. On a ten member team, this is $8,780.50 - good spending cash, but hardly enough to live on.

I do not need to play games competitively to know what the culture is like. However, what is the point of playing games if you cannot enjoy them? Competition is indeed one way to enjoy them, but topics like this are just circuses of absurdity. I suppose I think it's silly to argue over clan appointments and the honor therein. If a clan does not want to battle, pressuring them won't help.

But then again, I'm an idiot. Who listens to idiots?

ShadowGPW Apr 22, 2004 09:41 AM

who on earth brings up the topic that i can live from the money we won.

There are atm 26 people who has enough money to quit their job. Because they earned so much at the gaming scene *from sponsorships/winnings (18 koreans, 1 usa dude called fatal1ty, 7 swedish persons called from team SK - esti ofcourse)

Derby: Personal attack removal. Also, you will never again deny anyone's right to post here.

Trafton Apr 22, 2004 01:43 PM

I'd like to apologize for my post(s) above. I did not really read them before posting them, and did it in a mildly angry way.

The point I was trying to make is not that anyone is arrogant here. It is that arguments over gaming sort of defeat their true purpose, which is generally to have fun.

And what I said was not so much arrogant as it was hypocritical. I didn't really read the posts through. I hope you will all accept my apology for total stupidity, although I still stand by my comment that games should at least mostly be for enjoying.

Again, sorry. I'm not quite sure what possessed me to act like a moron lately, but I'll stop now.

Heh appears like this topic's purpose is changing every day. *jumps out of the flamewars while GpW and Trafton are sort of fighting eachother instead of me*

Newspaz Apr 23, 2004 01:51 AM

Sorry Trafton. I flamed you instead of CraccoBoy, I somehow had the idea the post Shad quoted was CB's.

ShadowGPW Apr 23, 2004 02:09 AM

i give up with the people in here.
