Snooze is unbanned =OOO

R3ptile Oct 14, 2005 11:41 PM

So there is no Invitational tournament after all? :(
Argh, just don't forget to make seedings so good players won't be able to face each other during the first stages.

And Rag, the quotes in your signature don't make much sense

Grytolle Oct 15, 2005 09:04 AM

Would it be possible for a clan to sign up with 2 teams, if it has enough active players?

White Rabbit Oct 15, 2005 09:06 AM

*hypno* No. *hypno*

That is not exactly fair, since there are almost no clans with over 6 active members. You're just looking for advantages to give C-C. :(

Grytolle Oct 15, 2005 09:23 AM

What advantage would that be?

White Rabbit Oct 15, 2005 09:28 AM

I already knew that there was no apparent advantage when I wrote my last post but C-C is the only clan atm able to successfully field two warteams over an extended period of time.

I think you can. All you need is 3 players and a tag as far as I know.

I still don't see your point...

Edit: Will the teambattle-levels be with reversed scoring? Or will someone convert them to that new nice system-thing that FS or someone created?

Suppose, for a minute, that all clans are exactly equal in skill, and each clan has a 50% chance of winning a game against another clan. If there are, say, 8 slots in the tournament, and C-C takes three of them, their chance of winning the tournament would be three times as big as other clans with just one team. And if one C-C got eliminated, they'd still have teams left in the tournament.

Besides that, last time I checked, JJ2WC was a clan tournament, not a 3vs3 tournament. It would be fairly ridiculous for a clan to enter multiple times in the same tournament.

[GpW]Urbs Oct 21, 2005 03:46 AM

Hmm seeing how no one replied to enigmas post so long, there can be quite a few interpretations as to why that is so.
Strength of arguments would be one I suppose:)

Grytolle Oct 21, 2005 04:48 AM

Or waiting for Chippie to reply?

White Rabbit Oct 21, 2005 05:11 AM

Chippie is away on holiday and should be back within a week or two.

Nielsje Oct 21, 2005 07:51 AM

Or two hours.
Give me the time to write a good reply to everything stated here ;P

R3ptile Oct 22, 2005 01:29 AM

Uh, is it the final mappool? We VS noobs need enough time to train :p

Nielsje Oct 22, 2005 02:13 AM

After all I decided there was no huge reply needed at all. Although, I will answer a few questions asked here.

Hmm, I doubt this is a correct solution for the problem. Some players will join the server earlier than others, and the will start capturing the enemy flag before there are players of the enemy team in the game! Besides, it takes a while before all teams are set and ready (colour changes etc.) I know this can be arranged in the pregame already, but it's still a bit dodgy. Players who are already in the server when the later players join, will have a huge advantage because they already got ammo and stuff. I know we could form a rule which forbids players to leave their base before the game starts, but most of the levels have start positions which are not near the base, and players could collect ammo while on their way to the base. In the end, it won't be water-tight.

A nice compromis would be that there's a time-limit for collecting, like, the game starts exactly 3 minutes after the server is up. This could be a good solution for the problem, but people will complain about unfairity, and so forth. I guess that the current situation (with enough collecting time till everyone's ready) is the only solution everyone would agree with.

This is actually a pretty good idea. It would be pretty much impossible to integrate these seasons in the database completely, but I could make a certain archive page, just like JDC’s. I have to bother R3ptile for the results, though, since I pretty much lost them all (season 1, that is)

This is the final mappool:

Capture the Flag
- Angelic Warfare
- Base Construction
- BloodBunny’s Lair
- Celestial Wargrounds
- Dawn Of Combat
- Divide & Conquer
- Galactic Warfare
- Happy Semiconductor CTF
- Jungle’s Edge
- Medieval Skyscrapers
- Quasar Quandary v1.1
- Radioactive Soup
- Ragnarok’s Stronghold
- Security Breach v2
- Termite Haven
- The Marshland Of Evil: SE
- The Zerox Factory
- This Level is Untitled
- Waterfall Caves
- Whantil

TeamBattle
- (EvilMike's Untitled Desert Level)
- Abandoned Robotics Factory
- Shock Station
- EvilMike's Evil Fortress
- Toasted Territory
- Villain Village
- Battle Game XC
- E. Prime
- First Strike
- Decripit Ruins

As you see, I used R3ptile’s TB list as basis, but replaced Battle1 with Shock Station TB. The CTF list hasn’t changed a thing since the first post in the thread. I think the majority of the people will agree with this list, although not everyone will agree with it. Expect a much more detailed mappool, including map information, minimaps, and game statisctics soon on the JJ2WC website (as WR already said, the address is http://jj2wc.ncmv.net/ - the website isn’t finished yet, but it will be in the upcoming weeks)

What about just restarting the map after everybody joins?

Grytolle Oct 22, 2005 04:42 AM

Or what about when the scripting language is done, so server controls ammocount, just giving all players 50 of all ammotypes in the level?^^

Boho =( No battle1 ;p

A few questions chip:
A) what is an activity award, and how the hell did i obtain it?:)
B) what are those 2 groups of clans doing there, and where did thos epoints come from?

Currently I just assume the whole thing is there just to test things out... cuz some things don't make sense(specially the flags:)))

[GpW]Urbs Oct 22, 2005 10:16 AM

(-) is up with that smiley :))

Ragnarok! Oct 24, 2005 02:41 PM

Chip, I think you should reduce the amount of levels in the pool. As the chances are, that with SO many levels that only a few will be chosen.. That is if we get to choose the levels. Anyway. Hi.

Good idea, this could work indeed, and I'll certainly think of introducing it. I hope everyone agrees on this, though.

Allright, since the website is up I've had to explain it dozens of times, but now I will explain it for once in here:
The activity award is an individual award, which is won by an individual player in the tournament. The same thing goes for the Golden Gun Award and the Flag Master Award. Activity award goes to the player who played the most minutes, during the championship, Golden Gun Award goes to the person which made the most kills during the tournament, and the Flag Master award goes to the person with most. I'm still in dubio about the Activity Award though, since most clans wok with a fixed warteam so everyone plays an equal number of minutes.

Note that those individual awards will be handed out when the group Rounds ends, or else it wouldn't be fair - clans who placed themselves for the final rounds are moe likely to obtain the awards aove clans who didn't, since they played more matches. Eventually, I will add some more awards (most flag takings, most flag losses, most deaths, most vulgar player etc. ;-) )

About the groups, everything in the standings of individuals and clans is just layout testing, so it means nothing. You can make fun of it, I don'care, but stop asking me questions about it, since it means completely ñada :(

Clans don't get to choose which map they play on. This is randomly decided about one hours before the match starts, and will be announced on the website. Hi.

Ragnarok! Oct 25, 2005 12:25 AM

Heya. Wasup? =)

maverick Oct 25, 2005 01:55 AM

"most vulgar player "

Yay,I will win it. =DDDDDD

White Rabbit Oct 25, 2005 02:25 AM

I also demand a 'lag complainer' prize.

It isn't good idea. You should announce the map at least one week before the match. You won't be suspected of any machinations then. Why? Well, your idea can make situations like this:
'Clan A: OMG, THEY (clan B) KNEW EARLIER THAT TEH MATCH WILL BE PLAYED ON SBV2!11 (for example).
Clan B: O.o WE DID NOT, YOU LAMES, NOOBS!111 (etc.).'

I hope you see the point.

I see the point, but I don't see why that would happen. Clans know that the maps will be announced at a certain time, so why would they lie to each other? I'll never tell ANY clan on which map a game will be played, so they can scream what they want, I don't care. Real clans can play on any map at anytime.
