would you like this soil better?

Olsen Feb 2, 2007 03:42 PM

Hmm, it fits better, yeah. I'd say use them.

White Rabbit Feb 2, 2007 04:20 PM

Most of the tileset looks like tea leaves and biscuits. Nice work, keep it up! :)
You might want to consider adding milk.

Violet CLM Feb 2, 2007 06:32 PM

You aware that stuff has a faint purpley glow around it?

ETA:

GoldRabbit Feb 2, 2007 11:29 PM

im sure that this tileset will be even gooder than Kansas.Keep up the good work :P!

Fawriel Feb 2, 2007 11:36 PM

I approve of Paul's soil.
And I approve even more of WR. That's the most awesome idea for a tileset ever.
Haven't you ever walked past a house thinking "Man, that house looks like cake"?

ThunderPX Feb 3, 2007 02:42 AM

I can hardly see any colour in that ground, it's way too dark.

GoldRabbit Feb 4, 2007 05:18 AM

the objects from this set must be bigger, they look small, and it will be hard to make level with if you dont make them bigger

I completely disagree, for various reasons:
 1. These tiles give the room to improvise a lot in your level design.
 2. I think we have a pretty clear view of how a tileset is build. Compared to most tilesets, for instance Disguise's or Agama's, there is nothing wrong with the size. Except if you for instance compare it to Mez's overly popular block-wise tiles, then they might appear small.
 3. It should not be any different than any other tileset to use. Perhaps it is more likely a problem of your mapping skills rather than the tileset itself.

Moreover, we have to consider the aspect ratio compared to the Jazz/Spaz characters.

GoldRabbit Feb 25, 2007 03:26 AM

Any new tiles added?

$ÏMØÑ Feb 25, 2007 07:36 AM

I like this tiles! This looks so cool!!!

P¼ul May 11, 2007 11:45 AM

can someone make new soil? this one doesnt fit anymore I think

P¼ul May 12, 2007 06:10 AM

:/

Birdie May 12, 2007 06:56 AM

I dislike that while soil. ;\

P¼ul May 12, 2007 07:36 AM

i havent added any colors yet, because I dunno which ones may fit. If you dislike the soil in general, you can of course make your own

(finally someone's interested with ths thread)

P¼ul May 12, 2007 08:01 AM

better?

Birdie May 12, 2007 08:13 AM

Yeah, the texture is better, but I'm really not sure about the color as it will make the tileset rather monochrome if we keep the color of the bricks.

I'm not really the best when it comes to MS Paint, and P4ul's version is much better, but I had a try at making some form of soil.

P¼ul May 12, 2007 11:46 AM

make it more convex, add a bevel or something
or could you make it a cave perhaps?

Violet CLM May 12, 2007 12:06 PM

At this point we have so many different textures, I think the most user-friendly option would be to arrange the tileset so you can use any tile you want for soil, and just have special shading tiles for edges or something like that.

P¼ul May 12, 2007 12:19 PM

I dont know, maybe we can keep pj's old soil

P¼ul May 13, 2007 04:24 AM

could someone finish the shading and add a few required tiles?

PurpleJazz May 13, 2007 08:33 AM

Finished the shading, added cave transition tiles and made some extra cave tiles.

P¼ul May 14, 2007 10:50 AM

well PJ, without something better than mspaint you may as well give up the shading
(it would be best if violet could do the shading if he already tried it once)

I have Photoshop at my computer at home, but I was using my Uncle's Laptop when I drew that soil, which only has MS Paint on it.

This set has made its way to J2O, in case anyone hasn't noticed. Another LMAT down!
