Can someone be banned for only being able to say "ME DUEL YOU???"
Oh - and saying "30 minutes!!!" and "5 minutes!!!" to never return again. That's about it with my opponent. I can't explain him anything nor I can actually ASK him anything cause his English knowledge basically stops there.

I get the point. I will be trying to find an equal replacement as soon as possible, since I doubt you vs spaceboy would be very fair for the first stage(he is the only reserve currently.)

EDIT: OK, that came out quite quickly. Here, you have a new opponent Veg: BlueSpaz7
His veto-maps are MS and KMC.

Ask PJ for contact.

Bluespaz7 Sep 20, 2009 01:40 AM

Yep, I'm here and waiting. =]
By the way, I can't duel on Monday through till Thursday, but I can on Fridays and during the weekend.

You can either contact my via PJ's or my msn, which is bl00sp4z@live.co.uk, although I don't sign on very often so asking PJ for me might be better.

Vegito Sep 20, 2009 04:07 AM

Well, today perhaps? I cant duel on weekdays either and don't like to wait .. Master Sven is waiting :D

And thanks, SJ. It was just impossible to really do anything with that guy. He's not online in the weekends and whenever he *IS* online, its impossible to talk :p

Bluespaz7 Sep 20, 2009 11:51 AM

Bluespaz vs Vegito:

5-1 to Vegito in Jungle's Edge (his choice)
5-3 to Vegito in City of the Sn00zE (my choice)

GG

Vegito Sep 20, 2009 12:12 PM

(y)

Superjazz Sep 20, 2009 12:30 PM

The tournament is progressing nicely. Half of the first stage matches have been played by now. There are 6 winners who are now able to duel each other. Those are:

Snooze vs The SlaYer
Warrior vs PurpleJazz
MasterSven vs Vegito

Same thing for the other bracket:

Troglobite vs musti
Foly vs micky
Jake vs BlueSpaz

The rest of the players have still got 2 whole weeks of time to finish their first matches, so there is indeed no hurry. But I shall note you that if some duelists don't even give a sign that they would be about to duel soon after next weekend, the hand of fate will be doing it's own part. If some duelists turn out totally inactive, I will threat to replace spaceboy or even myself with them, without caring about equality. Sure, threating is the last option for me, but it might happen if a player doesn't note that he is unavailable to play his match during the next couple of weeks early enough.

However, good luck to everyone. Oh, and I remind you that the tiebreaker level for stage 2 is Security Breach v2.

Raven aka StL Sep 21, 2009 12:49 AM

Report: I and Nedim agreed to duel next week.

Superjazz Sep 21, 2009 06:04 AM

Affirmative. ;)

CelL Sep 21, 2009 06:58 AM

Think I'll veto Jungle's Edge and Destroyed Cassis Factory. Beter late than never. ;p

Oh, and I added and messaged the guy I'm supposed to play on MSN, but he hasn't logged in yet and it's been over a week. Will try to contact him via email.

Vegito Sep 21, 2009 07:32 AM

And I will duel MS tonight .. lol.

Vegito Sep 21, 2009 11:09 AM

Well, I won though barely. My choice was MS and that didn't quite work out the way I hoped. I still won 2-1 after having a 1-1 score at 10 minutes time. I didn't really have a respawning right flying carrot either nor I had a toaster power up/bouncer power up spawning most of the time. That obviously didn't really help.
Other than that we forgot to put overtime on so the game stopped after 10 minutes instead. When we put overtime on, the game resetted itself so we were both back to 3 hearts rather than me being 1 heart. He had the upper hand at that point but he was under me, I was in a better position for getting the full nrg carrot so I doubt it mattered too much. All in all quite a messy and stressing game. Good job here though, heh. I noticed what not playing duels for ages means though :-).

SBv2 was his choice - this was quite one sided. I managed to score twice pretty quickly, that is also when the game/his motivation was gone/over. I won 5-0.

Gotta say all in all the duels were alright, lag based too. We both had quite a bit of lag. I am not sure what to think of these games :)

Enigma Sep 21, 2009 12:20 PM

I'm working on getting my duel done (just to assure you that I haven't forgotten). We haven't been able to do it so far, but Kev is online reasonably often, so I'm sure it's bound to work out sooner or later.

master sven Sep 21, 2009 12:20 PM

GG, you won farely, though I managed to play with some level of skill. By the way when the game froze after 10 mins I was above you but fell down :p. NVM GG.

FireSworD Sep 21, 2009 03:53 PM

I haven't seen my opponent on jj2 at all, nor am I able to contact him.

Superjazz Sep 22, 2009 10:23 AM

Ok, I will try to contact him soon myself. If there's no sign of him until next Sunday, I'll knock him out and try to find a replacement.

Troglobite Sep 23, 2009 09:03 AM

I had my second round duel now. (I wonder if I'm the first person to get eliminated entirely)

First Round (My Choice) Destroyed Cassis Factory
4-3, my win
He didn't really know the map, and had to find everything before the round started. He did quite well, and there's a good chance I wouldn't have won without a three health kill against him in the middle.

Second Round (His Choice) Jungle's Edge
5-0 his win
Ouch. He had pretty much complete control, and I was usually able to get a power-up or two after each death, but he was able to dodge many of my shots and I never killed him.

Third Round (Tie Breaker) Security Breach v2
5-1 his win
Again he had control and I never killed him. After the first kill, where he ambushed me over my 1 health carrot, I couldn't get power ups fast enough or get to the carrots when I needed them. I did get a rush right at the end, but then he rushed back and got the final score before I could recapture the flag.

Good Games. Thanks to Cag for hosting.

Vegito Sep 23, 2009 10:48 AM

This tournament goes a lot faster than I had honestly expected. And yeah, you're the first one to be out ;)

Enigma Sep 23, 2009 10:55 AM

I can claim the dubious honour of being the first of the top seeds to be upset. (Not that I ever understood why I was the 7th seed in the first place).

Round 1, JE (Kev's choice): 5-1 to Kev
Round 2, Slab Ratz (Enig's choice): 2-1 to Enig
Round 3, JE (tie-break): 5-0 to Kev

Um, yeah, I honestly don't know what went wrong here. My shots never seemed to hit him in the JE games, and the carrot was always there for him when they did hit. In the meantime, I got myself butchered even when I tried to be careful. Meh, I guess I'll play my loser bracket duels to be a good sport, but I'm not exactly expecting much.

FawFul Sep 23, 2009 10:02 PM

i maybe misunderstood this, but isn't the tiebreaker based on scores instead of wins?

Raven aka StL Sep 24, 2009 02:38 AM

The tiebreaker is the 3rd round of a match, so ofc it's about scores.

As for match-scoring (i.e. 5-2, then 3-5 [8-7]) I wouldn't know if a tiebreaker should be required if the other player has scored more points, but I assume it is after seeing past match results.
Also, in this case it couldn't possibly mean that the player who scored more points would win if match wins are 1-2, but round scores are, for example 11-8 (5-0, 2-3, 4-5).

There's reason to deduce that only round wins matter.

DanZeal Sep 24, 2009 03:13 AM

From the rules for this tournament:

Code:

If the round wins are tied to 1-1 after the first 2 rounds,
there will be a tiebreaker round.

The tournament seedings weren't 100% accurate, since I dealt players into 4 groups of seedings(Group 1 was 1-8, Group 2 9-16 etc.), I then basically randomed the positions of people in their groups, you got seed number 7. So well, yeah, the seedings somehow ended up pretty accurate, though still not perfectly accurate, which wasn't even the purpose. Why I put you in such a good group, the reason is that you took part already in almost all(or probably every?) past tournament, and usually won some matches. Also your JDC 17 Results were a good enough verification that you should be put to the top. Several losses by 1 point against good players are counted as well.

Anyway, in each tournament we have seen some surprises, greater or lesser, so this one counts as a greater surprise probably. If you feel you shouldn't have earned that high seed, there is also the possibility Kev should have had higher seed instead, since he was in the lowest group. Anyway, since he was a new player to these tournaments, and I didn't really have any good proof of his state, he was automatically put into group 4, like other new players. So if he really played very well, you don't have to be ashamed I guess. But anyway, good luck to the LB. ;P

Bluespaz7 Sep 26, 2009 12:47 AM

Bluespaz vs Jake:

5-3 to Jake in Swingin' Jazz (my choice)
5-0 to Bluespaz in Slab RatZ (his choice)
5-3 to Bluespaz in Jungle's Edge (tiebreaker)

GG. I kinda sucked in the BBswing round although I guess you can't expect to do well first thing in the morning. =P

Superjazz Sep 26, 2009 01:42 AM

Added.

Also, Trog have a look at the match above. Your tiebreaker was supposed to be Jungle's Edge, since it was still round 1 in LB. The tiebreakers then chance along the round numbers of WB. In LB all rounds are twice as long though, except the first one. So if you progressed your next couple of matches would have had SB2 as their tiebreakers. But I'll forgive you this time. I hope others now realize the way it goes too.

PurpleJazz Sep 26, 2009 11:44 AM

PurpleJazz vs Warrior

1st Choice: Jungle's Edge (Warrior)
Score: 5-1
Winner: Warrior
Comments:

This was his choice. I tried out a few tactics here and there, which usually work well on most people but Warrior played really intellegently and didn't foolishly walk into any of my traps like most people here. He basically dominated the level quite quickly, and most of the time there was no way of getting near enough to kill him without being killed myself.

2nd Choice: Destroyed Cassis Factory (PurpleJazz)
Score: 4-1
Winner: PurpleJazz
Comments:

For a change I tried a level I was quite familiar with yet never actually dueled in before. I had the upper hand generally because Warrior didn't seem to know the level very well, and so I predicted him quite well and managed to kill him with careful carrot control. It took quite a while though, so we didn't quite reach a 5-X score but it came pretty close.

3rd Choice: Security Breach v2 (Neutral)
Score: 5-0
Winner: Warrior
Comments:

I honestly didn't stand a chance here, I don't think I even hit him once. He totally dominated the level, predicting my every move, hogging all the PUs, camping in the most annoying situations, etc.

Overall Winner: Warrior (11-5)

Well, he won that fare and square I guess, Dragon's server in which we played in had just about no lag at all. Oh well, I guess you can't win every duel. Hello, Loser's Bracket. ;d

Raven aka StL Sep 29, 2009 08:33 AM

I and Nedim finally finished our match

Round 1:
Level: JE (Nedim's choice)
Raven 4-5 Nedim

This was quite damn laggy for both of us. I can't play at all under such lags, but he could so he quite easily won this one, although I could make it close with some seek-spam kills. Close to the end he got a rush score that he shouldn't have had.
I got to the base first after shooting him a few dozen times, but he still could score.
This could be accounted as lag that we both had though.

Round 2:
Level: MS (Raven's choice)
Raven 5-0 Nedim

He apparently had only played this level once before and it clearly showed. I could control the entire level and force him into traps quite nicely.

Tie-breaker round:
Level: JE (as depicted by round-rules)
Raven 5-1 Nedim

This hardly lagged for either of us, much unlike the first round. I could play a whole lot better without much lag so I kinda beat him to every powerup, key-area and the carrot throughout the game. At 4-1 he had to go for 15 minutes so we had a break and then finished the match.

Score: Raven 2-1 Nedim
Round scores: Raven 14-6 Nedim

Good luck in the LB.
Thanks to Zeal Duels (laggy as (-)(-)(-)(-)) and Snz (hardly any lag) for hosting.

Superjazz Sep 29, 2009 09:46 AM

Zeal Duels has seemed really laggy for me as well for some reason. Anyway, only 4 matches remain for stage 1, and I suppose two of them are to be played this Eve. Great job, dudes!

CelL Sep 29, 2009 12:09 PM

So, the guy I'm supposed to play hasn't responded to any messages, and he still hasn't logged onto MSN. I'm pretty busy these days so I can't be bothered to go on jj2 periodically just for the purpose of looking for him. What do I do?

master sven Sep 29, 2009 10:44 PM

Musti Playi?

DanZeal Sep 30, 2009 02:17 AM

About the lag on ZD.
The server is now on a wired connection instead of WLAN.
An upgrade of the server computer has also been done today.
With both ZA and ZD running minimized, CPU load is now 0-15%.
Broadband upgrade (atleast twice the speed) has been orderd and should take place this week.
I hope this will reduse the lag for some players. But still, i can“t do anything about the distance (located in sweden).

Actually this is a very similar case with a couple of earlier players that got replaced. The players apparently just signed up, but didn't know what for. I'll try to find a replacement as soon as possible, if you wish to have an opponent instead of having a walkover. Also, I've noticed that you haven't been contactable very much either recently. If you feel that you're having too little spare time yourself, you can also give your place if you like, because I have an eager player in reserve(not myself) just in case.

If by not very contactable you mean I haven't been on jj2 then that's true, but it's been like that for the last two or three months so that should be no big shock. I'm a bit less on MSN these days as well but that's because uni's been keeping me busy. I still check all my messages at least once a day tho' so I'm still very much contactable, and while I'm busy I can find some spare time to arrange a duel on most any day, unless I have a really pressing deadline coming up.

In short, if you have a willing opponent for me, by all means send him my way and we'll work out a date to play somewhere in the coming days.

Superjazz Sep 30, 2009 12:24 PM

Thing is that your duel isn't the only one that is unlikely to be played. I have a trust in FS and his new opponent that they will get their duel played, but Dragon and Fox seem to be having some sort of a conflict about their duel, if I got it right. I have to look into that as well, and consider removing either player if it can't be solved in time. Since I have only one player available in reserve, it is likely that there is still going to be at least one forfeit game in this stage, which is nevertheless very less, when comparing to past tournaments. I had to do a few replacements though, but that is better than just having 'idle' players in the tournament.

Edit: Ok, I heard they should be playing their duel shortly, so as long as you agree, your new opponent will be spaceboy. This is the last replacement for this tournament, and I'll be extending the deadline for your duel a bit if required. However he has been offline a bit as well, so if he either does not reply to me within three days, or rejects after all, then you'll get a technical win.

Also the first forfeit game of the tournament came out a bit unexpectedly on stage 2, although not very surprising from this player. Anyway, Snooze gave SR the pass to quarter-finals due to personal things. He said to continue in LB instead.

Well, the first forfeit came out still, even if it was avoidable until the end of the tournament. I remind you others that there is still a prize for the top-3 of this tournament, so it is really not recommended to give away wins like this.

[GpW]Urbs Oct 1, 2009 01:06 AM

dang, the player list is full and I so wanted to play...
btw gj iR, you seem to be whoopin some serious you know what!

Superjazz Oct 1, 2009 07:10 AM

Heh, the playerlist fill up was indeed quick...perhaps a little too quick. Anyway CelL, spaceboy has confirmed that he is your new opponent. Good luck!

Well, there's always Urbs and Sperry although I'm not sure if she's willing to play. Urbs showed interest just a sec :p

Superjazz Oct 1, 2009 09:20 AM

However spaceboy told me a long time ago already that he would have liked to play, so I gave him the last place available at least. Also he and CelL finished their match a moment ago. It was probably the closest match of the tournament so far.

Enigma Oct 1, 2009 09:40 AM

*stares eerily at Dragon and Fox until they decide to play*

[GpW]Urbs Oct 1, 2009 12:30 PM

i played a couple of ctf games on zeal alpha today, and do I kick (-)(-)(-)!!! Scored 14 out of 15 times for my team in 3 consecutive games:)
these youngbloods have a lot to learn:)
It was a real ego boost, unlike playing against some people from these forums I could name:)
No teamplay though... No, playing with vivando or gry, that's seriously sweet...

Anyhow, just wanted to say one thing: I still got it baby!!
