Unfortunately the layout of that level turned out too linear, so I'm re-starting it.

Everything like the BG will still be the same.

I think those colors are better for the bushes/leaves. I included an example level.. ;o
For some reason Freewebs hate .zip files and think they are .exe's, so it's .rar'ed instead.

Edit: I changed the filename too, so it's more safe or something to download it in JJ2. Yay!

Neobeo Jan 12, 2007 07:48 AM

Hm... I'm not a big fan of levels and tilesets, so this is probably my first reply in this thread. It would also be the first level I am making that has nothing to do with the creation of server tools.

Neobeo's Firetruck:

This single-player level involves going round and round a pumper, but exploring it thoroughly. It is driven by none other than Jazz himself, and like all good firemen, the level will be nothing but confusing puzzles.

NB: MS Paint FTW.

Grytolle Jan 12, 2007 09:48 AM

(-) coincidence! arent u a fireman :D

Grytolle Jan 12, 2007 02:03 PM

No???

Sacrush Jan 12, 2007 02:30 PM

Yes???

DarkSonic Jan 13, 2007 03:41 AM

Okay, stop spamming now ;/

Well, I'm probably going to finish Impressions soon. I think my break took long enough and thus I'm going to work on it again.

Here it is again. As you can see, the tileset has been changed.

Olsen Jan 13, 2007 11:29 AM

I like the look of that, for more than one reason. ;D

However, I think the big carrot can get a little confusing, since you can believe it's actually masked. But that's only the first time you're playing, I think.

Violet CLM Jan 13, 2007 12:44 PM

<3.

Blackraptor Jan 13, 2007 01:38 PM

I really like the look of that, actually.

Ðx Jan 13, 2007 01:54 PM

I love it!!

Xobim Jan 14, 2007 01:34 AM

Very cewl, especially the eyecandy!

Olsen Jan 14, 2007 03:21 AM

I just played in it, and I've got to say, the part of the eyecandy which is done looks _awesome_

edit: lolol I fixed Carrotus Fix, meaning there should be no problem downloading from jj2 and stuff.

Mainly made to fix the evening diamondus bushes.

That reminds me, I was even thinking of making a Carrotus Fix Diamondus version, with a diamondus palette. Perhaps...

cooba Jan 14, 2007 08:26 AM

Sounds like fun =D

Olsen Jan 14, 2007 08:37 AM

It turned out quite nice, but unfortunately, due to palette stuff and placement the wooden pieces became blue, and it would be too much of a job to remake it in paint. :/

PurpleJazz Jan 14, 2007 08:37 AM

If you do make a Diamondus version, don't forget to add Diamonds. ;)

Reading the posts, I see the wood is finished now, though I want to say that the wood looks quite good, being blue. It may not fit the Diamondus theme, but looks interesting nonetheless.

In the future, all wood turned blue and the sky turned brown.

DarkSonic Jan 20, 2007 06:30 AM

Yeah, PJ.. there are some tilebugs there.. but that EC liooks much better than the EC in my Secret Base: ID 20516. The wall EC and ground EC is much better, but like I said.. there are some tilebugs if you can call them tilebugs.

Ragnarok! Jan 20, 2007 07:14 AM

EC looks good so far PJ, if you'd fix those bugs.. It hurts my eyes =[

PurpleJazz Jan 20, 2007 09:57 AM

Tilebugs are now fixed! :D

DarkSonic Jan 21, 2007 08:04 AM

Well, I hope you will really fix them soon. I showed you how to make it ;P

Anyway, I said that I was going to continue Impressions but I still haven't D:
I'm sure I will finish it, but I just don't know when ;/

Tik Jan 27, 2007 09:42 PM

This isn't a level, but a tileset.

I will probably never finished it. ;(

PurpleJazz Jan 28, 2007 12:28 AM

That looks nice, but its a bit grainy in places.

Fawriel Jan 28, 2007 02:50 AM

Hmmm. To be very honest, Tik, that tileset looks like it has potential, but there's something missing in it to make it awesome... I'm not sure what it is, and I guess it still misses eye-candy stuff, but I'd suggest for one to make things.. smoother. The grass looks a little as if it was a low-quality jpg, and I'd suggest making the gradient smoother between the two sides of the wall of ground in the upper right ( kind of hard to describe ). The way it is now, it looks like something was broken out of the ground or so.
The way it is now, the tileset looks to me like.. any other foresty tileset except with some grainy textures added in.
With the grainyness comes some sort of natural feeling and the atmosphere of old movies and such. It has charme, but it lacks something...

I hope that helps any...

WerBack3>> Jan 28, 2007 05:11 AM

"Marbelara Funky Castle" with a boss. Big (not huge, big) and only 1.

I know exactly what you mean, Faw, and I agree. The grass bugs me a bit for the same reason. As it is, it was mostly an exercise in colour conservation and drawing a tileset pixel by pixel (something I've never really done). The grass itself only uses three or four colours. Strangely, others have commented that they like it just fine.

I think there are actually some jpg artifacts in that picture. The actual tileset isn't much better, though.
