Why do the Night and Evening versions go neglected, I don't know ;)

Oh, I see. I've only seen the Evening version, and that one I like. Nice to see there was a night version too. :)

:>

PurpleJazz Jan 30, 2007 12:46 PM

That looks very nice Snooze!

Maybe just a bit more EC would be nice.

Xobim Jan 31, 2007 09:01 AM

Much better than what I did with that tileset... :)

Grytolle Jan 31, 2007 09:59 AM

Seriously, that's just a 45 degree hill, nothing interesting at all ;O

Is the spring on the tree or the ground...yeah that's all I could think to ask of it.

Neobeo Feb 2, 2007 05:44 PM

Hm... I've probably mentioned that I'm not a big fan of levels and tilesets, and this is my second reply in this thread. It would also be the second level I am making that has nothing to do with the creation of server tools.

Neobeo's Artillery:

This single-player level involves going round and round an artillery, but exploring it thoroughly. It is driven by none other than Jazz himself (he is inside so you cannot see him), and like all good soldiers, the level will be nothing but confusing puzzles. Like the firetruck which was inspired by Chip's Challenge, this artillery was inspired by Advance Wars.

NB: MS Paint FTW.

Xobim Feb 3, 2007 12:57 AM

Don't make the level too large, BTW. Your firetruck allready gave errors, and I think this tank is going to be even bigger...

I wouldn't blame them on the size of the level, though.

Ground ;P

White Rabbit Feb 3, 2007 05:26 AM

That's not artillery, that's a tank!! What the heck did they teach you in the army? :p

Camou Feb 3, 2007 08:45 AM

Looks good! Did you draw everything in Mspaint :O? Anyway, looking forward to the level.

I'm not exactly sure, but doesn't TSF have better memory management?

DoubleGJ Feb 3, 2007 12:30 PM

Suprisingly, Firetruck works on my 1.23, but doesn't on my TSF. I get an error:

"Jazz 2 ran out of internal animation structures. There are most probably too much enemies in the current level.

Please solve this problem and restart JJ2."

Too much enemies, right...

Violet CLM Feb 3, 2007 01:09 PM

Everytime I see a Jungle screenshot, I want to post one of my own. :|

FQuist Feb 3, 2007 07:15 PM

That one looks great. Especially because of the gameplay.

PJ, I always think your screenshots look pretty, but they barely ever seem to show any of the gameplay elements. Not that they aren't there - I don't know. But from your screenshots your levels are empty.

FireSworD Feb 3, 2007 11:54 PM

Although I agree with FQ on this; I must add that few levelmakers manage to skillfully excersize all aspects of gameplay, eyecandy etc into their work. So instead of looking at it as a flaw, I'd look at it as an aspect to improve and add to your style.

I get the same error sometimes. Maybe it has to do with that special JCS version Neobeo uses...

White Rabbit Feb 4, 2007 07:18 AM

Surely you don't need to tell people to jump into a hollow tree trunk when they're about to get sandwiched between two boulders? :D

Maybe you could make that text string appear in Easy difficulty only... :p

Ragnarok! Feb 4, 2007 09:53 AM

Everyone's making Mystic isle levels now. Did someone start a craze or something?

And by the way, Violet's level looks awesome ;o

Stijn Feb 4, 2007 11:36 AM

Well, Mystic Island is pretty awesome, altough I can't make nice eyecandy with the small amount of available tiles. But when used correctly I find it one of the best tilesetes out there :)

Camou Feb 4, 2007 01:41 PM

Most recent levels that are posted here are all kind of foresty/jungly themed, I think.

But I started it years ago. :p

It's not entirely necessary maybe, but the urgency of the message adds to the fun, to me.

Fawriel Feb 5, 2007 06:28 AM

Besides, I think it's not the rocks that one has to jump to escape from, but the Devil underneath the trunk. I think being inside it wouldn't save you from them anyway because Jazz would still be hit by them....

FQuist Feb 5, 2007 07:27 AM

I am sure Violet knows what he has doing and has actually tested if it works. :p

Fawriel Feb 5, 2007 07:35 AM

...and I think you misunderstood what I said.

Violet CLM Feb 5, 2007 10:56 AM

For the record, there is no gameplay reason either the devil or the bats are there. They're just cool because they get triggered by your approach. The rocks are enough to brutally crush you on their own, and the tree trunk does indeed protect you from them. :P

PurpleJazz Feb 8, 2007 09:53 AM

Awesome!

Xobim Feb 8, 2007 12:08 PM

Did Jazz got swallowed by a dragon?
What has he been up to?!?!

Sacrush Feb 8, 2007 01:59 PM

I must say it looks pretty cool. Good job FS.

FireSworD Feb 8, 2007 05:48 PM

Good job on the hint I provided Xobim, but no, the dragon has no significance in the actual plot. The very basic part of the plot is a deus ex machina between the brothers Jazz and Spaz.

I understand your point Flash, but the text string is actually important. It's one of those things that makes sense when you experience the level itself.

Birdie Feb 10, 2007 11:43 AM

I finally got back to working on my CTF pack.
