Beauty and touch of an artist except the lack of wristbands. *goes to sleep*

n00b Jun 4, 2005 03:21 PM

Bah I failed. Couldn't get a ride to kinkos in time.
And even if I did, I couldn't get the CGing done in time. I'll still try and get it done, since I just learned a whole style, redid the design several times (including a last minute change which is probrally what killed me), and even got my brother to allow me to use his laptop for the CGing(since mine wouldn't work) if I got the art scanned.

Argh! Someone already noticed! D=

Thanks, though. ^^;;

Baggers Jun 4, 2005 03:31 PM

Get it in nOOb !...at the very least itll look nice !

Radium Jun 4, 2005 03:38 PM

Very good drawing, Faw. That sky is especially nice. What did you use for it?

My power supply spontaneously fried one hour before the deadline. Faw is only going to win because natural events screwed N00b and I over

Baggers Jun 4, 2005 03:41 PM

if you can/want to post them...the least they can get is an honourable mention !

n00b Jun 4, 2005 03:42 PM

I'm now reinstalling the scanner to my windows 98 as we type.

Muahaha. Thanks.
Well, the sky. Durrh. It's a photo I got off of Google, then used an oil painting filter on. Oh well. ^^;

Don't make me stuff you in a bag, take you here, and make you change my power supply for me at gunpoint.

THERE WILL BE NO MONKEYS ON MY THREAD ! :)

Radium Jun 5, 2005 01:43 PM

Well, since I've already missed the deadline there's no point in me vectorizing it or adding real text or something fancy like that (which, looking back on it, probably would have been a hundred times as fast).

I should have drawn more over the last two months. I'm starting to suck again D=

Baggers Jun 5, 2005 01:56 PM

Dude that is (-)(-)(-)(-) cool !...such a shame you missed the deadline....ah well, i'll squeeze the pic in somewhere !
Thanks for posting it !

Odin Jun 5, 2005 01:59 PM

If Radium got that in in time, I would have voted for it.

Olsen Jun 5, 2005 02:18 PM

OMG Awesome! (You must put it in baggers ;))

I love the eyes on Jazz. Better than everything I've ever seen...!

n00b Jun 5, 2005 03:08 PM

Since I'm now in the final stage(AKA- Adding a background and putting everything together) of my now extremely too late spalsh screen entry, I might as well post the final vectors for Jazz and Spaz (also including Chuck)

Baggers Jun 5, 2005 03:18 PM

Hey thats pretty good, chuck looks great...spaz does look a little feminine though !

Thats what was wrong with him! I couldn't put my finger on it. You see, I had a perfect body, but the head was too small and since I can never get a head to fit perfectly after a body is done, I had to redraw the body at the last minute(I was on the natural high of getting Jazz and Spaz done when I first drew them so I didn't notice the head size).

That's the beauty of vectors: Just resize the head after you vectorize it
Very nice drawing, Noob. Jazz's right leg connects to his hip a bit strange, though. And what Baggers said about Spaz looking feminine (again, this is something really easy to fix with vectors. Just change his leg shape a little).

I paniced, having a two hour deadline sorta does that to you.
EDIT- On the plus side, Spaz's legs are now fixed. Not too sure if I can do anything about Jazz's odd hip/leg problem he has

too*
Is the vector shape of his leg behind the shape of his ventral fur? If so, just make his right (viewer's left) leg a bit larger and maybe move it a tiny bit up and to the left (most stuff can be done with moving and scaling). Keep in mind where his hips are located and how big they are. As is, they are about the size of his fist.

n00b Jun 5, 2005 06:01 PM

Bah, I have no idea WHAT i was talking about. So erm, chalk this one up to being tired.

Version closet to my orignal design (and the shoddiest(sp?) logo ever)
http://www.deviantart.com/view/19123387/
More sophisticated title, need to fix the D.

Both versions are now not final, since Jazz's leg fix was easier than I originally thought. an update to the planets in the BG, the purple planet, and the green D in the alternate version will also be done.

That's an awesome design. I'd like to see that finished.

piet Jun 10, 2005 01:15 AM

@Radium
wow you are good thats like a real jazz!
waitup i will make vectors of it maybe it saves you some work :P

EDIT:
here it is:

i think you should make it as vector like this.
(i do have a version without the extra black border around it)

oh and i dont take credits for this, i cant draw myself and without radium i am nothing, ill bet he can do vectors better than me any way

Radium Jun 10, 2005 09:42 AM

Wow. Nice vectoring job, Piet. I like anything that saves me work =P.

I got your PM, BTW. Just let me know what you need and I'll see what I can do.

Jun 10, 2005 11:49 AM

Piet, could you teach me a bit on this vectoring thing? it would save me loads & loads of time cleaning my pictures (with ms-paint!!!!) I decided to try and draw stuff =P

n00b Jun 10, 2005 12:43 PM

Well you need a Vectoring program like Corel Draw or Macromedia Flash for starters.

piet Jun 10, 2005 12:50 PM

i used paint shop pro for this. just get is from somewhere and i will teach you a bit.

oh and Radium i can use things like this:
+ (level/arena) loading screen
+ Menu background
+ Splash screen

a menu background would be a good start, something like the one you did for baggers but with a razz on it to.

let me know if you have time for it

n00b Jun 10, 2005 01:07 PM

PSP can use vectors now? Hmm never knew that.
Edit: or is it just the normal manipulation of the line tool?

It can do vectors. Personally, I like Flash more than Illustrator and PSP because of the speed. PSP and Illustrator can't floodfill, and PSP can't vary the thickness along one line. This was made in PSP. This was made in Flash, looks like crap, but took half as long! The Uberbob sprites (e.g. Fawriel or Araches) were made in Illustrator. These do nothing to prove my point, and, if anything, disprove it.

Nice job, Piet! You're quick to learn new styles.

Baggers Jun 11, 2005 07:37 AM

Wow, that is awesome Piet !

SpybunnyCC Jun 11, 2005 08:21 AM

yea nice:D

piet Jun 11, 2005 12:15 PM

tnx all but radium should take the credits for it :P

As long as I still get credit and it's a good edit job, I'm perfectly fine with it.
