How do you like it?
(the thing to the right is just all colors used, 8 colors)

It's very good...

But, two things.. one, I don't think it really fits into the tileset..
Secondly, it also doesn't have.. depth.. but I guess I'm not the director of the project or anything. If people like it, it's in.

zapS Aug 16, 2006 11:19 AM

what do you mean with "depth"?
(just want to make it better)
what color do you think the other ground tiles (on your sketch)
should have?

I would suspect a purpleish color.

Fawriel Aug 16, 2006 01:12 PM

Yeah, as I said. I'd like it to look like the blocks were made out of the very same material. The color could be slightly off, but.. yeah.

And with depth.. I mean the outline. It's a little hard to explain. Take, for example, the Inferno tilesets. It has tiles where there's actual shading and stuff at the border. This creates an illusion of depth, it makes the wall look more three-dimensional.
Also, in the same tileset, you walk on some kind of layer on top of the rock. This also has depth.
However, I'd like for the rock to have a rounder edge... ...I guess I'll have to try again myself if I want to explain this. *sigh*

NovaStar Aug 18, 2006 03:42 AM

I'm recoloring the warpy thingy to light light green. I'll only be 10 minutes max.

cooba Aug 18, 2006 03:48 AM

...so I take it my piston (not elevator.....) animation could as well be taken away the tileset since it's off the theme?

NovaStar Aug 18, 2006 04:03 AM

Huh?
Yay, I don't have to edit my post ^_^

...I nearly spelt "post" as "pot". =)

Doubble Dutch Aug 19, 2006 03:48 PM

I dunno; there's something to be said for 'ugly' tilesets.

It all just depends how well the tiles work together.

Fawriel Aug 20, 2006 01:04 AM

I think there are enough of those.. I can't think of many sets that I'd describe as beautiful, even just a little beautiful. Agama's sets and perhaps some by Moonblaze. Can't think of any others.

Hareoic Aug 20, 2006 09:13 AM

Beautiful, in my mind, is synonymous with colorful or vivid. And since there's a limited number of colors that can be used in a tileset, there aren't really very many tilesets that would qualify.

zapS Aug 22, 2006 03:28 AM

well, how about this one then?:)
purple color and more depth(i hope)

what do you think?

cooba Aug 22, 2006 03:33 AM

Good enough for me.

NovaStar Aug 23, 2006 02:46 AM

...what's with the green on top?

zapS Aug 23, 2006 04:15 AM

it is just the background.
if the tile is going into the tileset we will change the bgcolor of course.;)

Hareoic Aug 23, 2006 06:01 AM

So the walls will be green? Or will the outside be green? Because bright green-walled caverns are uncommon for a reason.

Nothing will be green, he just used a green background to make it easier to draw the tile...

exactly!!:D was it really that hard to figure out for the two other guys???

minmay Aug 23, 2006 12:13 PM

And green is a typical transparent color.

zapS Aug 23, 2006 02:12 PM

yeah, it is...
but i still want to know what all of you think about the tile(not the bgcolor;))

Olsen Aug 24, 2006 12:31 PM

I like it.

NovaStar Aug 24, 2006 03:30 PM

Goodies!

Cheese Aug 24, 2006 06:30 PM

I think that there should be some white blocks along with the black ones.

Also, I have conjured up some kind of background to use on layer 7
behind some mountains or something.

Go ahead and edit this to fit in, and I know I did a really crappy job on the
black rocks :P

EDIT:

Some brick-ish tiles to go with the spire ;)

Hareoic Aug 26, 2006 05:12 AM

Is it coming out of the ground or out of some angry looking clouds?

Ðx Aug 26, 2006 01:33 PM

zapS Sep 3, 2006 07:41 AM

were the brickish tiles meant to be background stuff or layer4 blocks?

zapS Sep 3, 2006 07:45 AM

well, if you liked my last tile then i'm going to make some slopes and other tiles in the same style.

Actually, either, it doesnt really matter.

White Rabbit Sep 3, 2006 03:50 PM

I say we turn all the brickish tiles into British tiles. :D

Risp_old Sep 3, 2006 04:11 PM

Go right ahead, is what I say. This tileset needs more colour!

Risp_old Sep 4, 2006 05:14 PM

If it weren't for the fact that that'd look really strange if the bricks were used in any pattern besides that one, I'd say that's actually an improvement.

NeonPSY Sep 5, 2006 05:41 PM

Ok. Blue screen of death and junk that hurts and junk that doesn't. Plus a sign. You can remove the sign if you want. I don't care.

Fawriel Sep 5, 2006 07:21 PM

...looks like the project stopped working as soon as I suggested my complicated theme.
I apologize if that was the reason.

Risp_old Sep 6, 2006 03:25 AM

The reason for me was that school started.

zapS Sep 8, 2006 04:28 AM

same here;)
i'm done with one of the slopes now, soon the tiles are ready:).

zapS Sep 11, 2006 12:07 PM

now they are ready!:)
just have to get them from the other computer.

BattleSpaz Sep 13, 2006 07:38 AM

This is a tileset that could even be used. YOu are making great job with this... just finish it and make masks... *COUGH*Icantmakemyowntilescuzisuck*COUGH*

zapS Sep 21, 2006 10:10 AM
