@Lithium: You said let Gry play where he wants to play, I think he does not have the Belgian nationality though he lives there, just as Veg probably wont have the Irish nationality. Get the point?

How can you prove your nationality, by scanning your ID and sending it to r3p? I think playing from an IP from the country in question should suffice. I mean, it's not like anyone would travel to a neighbour country just for a JJ2 tournament. And I live in Germany. There are no decent active players from my homeland at the moment, and Germany lacks a good third player, I think it would only make the tournament more interesting if I could play for Germany.

Ric Feb 4, 2011 07:13 AM

I'll never get tired of my inter <3 and pasta of course. and I'm not going to become slovenian, just an alliance!!!!!11!1!!!!1!

[GpW]Urbs Feb 4, 2011 08:04 AM

Anubis? There are no decent active players from your homeland? you've got to be kidding me.
Although for the record, I don't mind if you play for Germany.
you do live there, so if they'll take you, fair game imo.

I mean it's not like France hasn't recruited half of africa to play for them. And Italy often gets some Italian Argentinians who play for them etc..

The funny thing is that a lot of decent players are trying to claim a spot in this tourney.
What everyone should keep in mind is that its about representing your country.
It is about honour. If there are too few people to represent a country then it should be possible to merge 2 countries, like serbia an montrenegro once did. It is not about fitting the best players into the tournament, but fitting the best players into their country, which could exclude some good players.

Lithium Feb 4, 2011 09:34 AM

They try to side with the players they like/love/think they'll pwn with them. We gain nothing by siding with Urbs,King and Snake,we're just giving them a fair opportunity to play...I have said this so many times: NO RANDOM ALLIANCES,PLEASE. If you are not living in that country,if you are not from it or if you haven't been the part of a same country in the last 50 years (yes),then don't request to play for it.

Ric Feb 4, 2011 10:02 AM

Alright, looks like I'm out then

Enigma Feb 4, 2011 10:06 AM

So you're basically saying that except for Yugoslavia (you), the Soviet Union (essentially Russia + chillax) and Czechoslowakia (do we even have jj2ers from Slovakia?), no one's allowed to ally? Yes, that does sound like giving people a fair opportunity to play ;-P

Just saying, non-random (and preferably non-pointless) alliances are harder to make in the jj2 world than you'd think ;)

Lithium Feb 4, 2011 10:21 AM

Well actually, some other alliances should be allowed but ONLY in extreme cases. Ric,maybe you could play for us,but that'd be too much. Ally with someone else? (I'd allow that because he'd like to play)

I could get Hunter, he doesn't have that much experience with CTF though. And the rest of the Bulgarians are members of NC so.. :)

why don`t we organise a 3v3 tournament? it would be funnier than the national one.

[GpW]Urbs Feb 4, 2011 02:28 PM

fine, but then I think I'm already in grytmasterns team

But you're absolutely right about me being a terrible CTF player. Not to mention I have currently no internet access at my hostel room in Sofia. Most unfortunate, since the second semester starts on Monday.

A question possibly related to what I said: when is this tourney to take place?

Who would be our third player? I doubt teaching some of the noobs in NC to use CTF codes would help that much. Btw we should meet when I come back to Sofia in the summer.

Vegito Feb 4, 2011 04:53 PM

I'd prefer a 3v3 as well.
In fact I could play for Ireland cause I do possess an Irish PPS. Thats the Irish personal number.
Gry however studies in Belgium and doesn't have a Belgian personal number I think? Yet again, Gry lives in Belgium for a long time already and speaks Dutch perfectly. If anything he should have had the possibility for a Belgian personal number before I should have had in Ireland. Still, I worked in Ireland and he studies, major difference.

Summary? skip this post its boring :H

[GpW]Urbs Feb 5, 2011 12:06 AM

FU veg, maybe add a warning above the post!

Grytolle Feb 5, 2011 01:13 PM

I have a Belgian ID-card and a permit to stay there for 5 years, but no citizenship

Anubis Feb 5, 2011 01:23 PM

I got a letter today regarding my stay in Germany, I think it's because I did some small job for 2.55 euro without having a work permit. I'll make sure I'm not an outlaw anymore by the time the tournament starts :D

Ric Feb 21, 2011 06:54 AM

any news? :D

[GpW]Urbs Feb 21, 2011 09:41 AM

well if you ask me, this thing will only work if some1 gives it a kickstart like it happened with jj2wc.
Start the sign-ups and solve the problems as we go along. Rep seems the right guy for the job and we could just use the jj2wc crew and mby even the jj2wc page.
As for the problems, well, here I mean mostly the people who would play but who don't have enough team mates.

I don't think only some historical states should count, IMO if the ohter participants agree random alliances should be possible. (or at least add one team europe, or team world, or both - pretty good solution imo...). We should have a "no-overlap" rule (maybe), where players from a country participating (like Romania) can't play for another team. But even here, if a coutry like poland, which has so many players, has one or two players who are willing to play or be substitutes in team europe, I wouldn't be against it. I mean, let people play if they wan't. (and if the other teams agree). But otherwise, a no-overlap rule would work. If one country plays its players can't play for any other country. That gives a chance for us solo players to participate. And b4 everybody gets pissed off, think about it, its not like we'd make a dream team here. The persons who showed interests for alliances would make a formidable opponent, but we can all agree that in current form, the favourites are known and if such an alliance would be somebody, so be it, its just a game...
And if people don't bitch (and you know they will) things should run ok.

jj2wc forrmat, mby shorter in the final rounds (bst out of 3 not best out of 5). If a country has enough players those players can't play for team europe and/or world, otherwise don't bitch and let the rest of us play, its not like any1 can compete with NL, FIN, POL or RO and Serbia (if hordy plays).

As for any other exceptions, they can be discussed as we go along.

OH and, if I play for any team (world, europe, yugoslavia, roman empire etc), I don't have time to train sry:) I'm taking it easy this time round:)
As for the levels, well I always prefered big pools, cuz is harder to traiin all levels and most people will find their favourite level in the pool.

I know most people hate NA, but I would keep the original jj2wc pool, adding ladderpool levels (both BB levels at least, and distopia to top it off). Make the teams play their games each week, designate teamleaders etc..

We can get the show on the road in 1 week or 14 days...

That is if people won't go flailing around how unfair everything is, and how they think 20 min rounds are too short and how they prefer 21 min rounds and how zaitox stinks and they'll never play there and what's up with stupid bblair anyway I hate it m'kay?

That's why it's good to have rep around, he just couldn't care less about all the people whining:)

Ana Feb 21, 2011 10:07 AM

ye,R3p ROX!I`m proud I pwn him. :D

Lithium Feb 21, 2011 10:32 AM

I still think random alliances do not go with "world championship" idea.

Germany will pwn you all

Ric Feb 21, 2011 02:36 PM

Also nations with many players could try to make 2 teams each or so, I wouldn't mind

Superjazz Feb 22, 2011 12:40 PM

I don't think multi-teams from the same country would fit. Let's have an example that there is a country with 2 teams and the other one wins the whole cup. Meanwhile in the other team: "Yay, our country won the cup but we still lost." Meaning that they're like left out from the celebration although they shouldn't.

Besides there really cannot be too many players in a single country in this game. :)

[GpW]Urbs Feb 22, 2011 01:10 PM

I agree with SJ. On all accounts. Cuz serisously, people wont have time to play people will get inactive...
etc

Vegito Feb 24, 2011 12:10 AM

I would prefer a normal 3v3 tournament above a national tournament.. I guess I wasn't the only one who said that. All these thoughts about random alliances kind of put me off, just go for a normal 3v3 tournament then, it's probably a bit harder to organize but definitely more fun imo ;-)

If you're scared of overpowered teams, rank each player (rank A, B and C) and put one of each together :). Or have every player choose one of each rank so that it could work out anyway AND be rather even.
Ah, and perhaps a rank D, cause 4 players a team would definitely be a must.

[GpW]Urbs Feb 24, 2011 01:07 AM

Well thats a posibility, but I wouldnt mind a national tournamnt with 2 supranational entities (world, EU).

But sure, random 3v3 works fine for me as well.

Vegito Feb 24, 2011 05:37 AM

The major problem with that would be.... Who to choose? There's so many good players outside of the 'good' countries...

Ric Feb 24, 2011 06:04 AM

And also, who could make fair ranks? Anyway, random 3on3 tournament sounds fine to me. If the rank system really works we can just make random teams, not picked by players themselves, just casual

[GpW]Urbs Feb 24, 2011 06:09 AM

thing is, these things are usually always a bit half-assed.
We mainly see who's interested in this tourney. So we can adapt as we go along.

Superjazz Feb 24, 2011 07:22 AM

Yay! Perhaps I get to 'throw' my dice again. :)

Ric Feb 24, 2011 03:01 PM

Anyway spaceboy is not going to organize anything soon, so we need to wait unless someone else could organize

Vegito Feb 25, 2011 05:28 AM

I am not a good main organizer (or too lazy }> ) but I'm fine as a tournament official I guess

cooba Feb 25, 2011 06:06 AM

When are we ever going to have a jailbreak tournament? :(

[GpW]Urbs Feb 25, 2011 07:19 AM

true, we could do a 3v3 JB thing:)

Ric Feb 25, 2011 09:03 AM

I could try organizing something, not on my own though. With 2-3 people would be ok

master sven Feb 27, 2011 04:29 AM

I could help you, I guess.

Lithium Feb 27, 2011 08:39 AM

There might be a new duel tournament with an interesting mappool,so stop planning fail 3v3 tournaments in the Nations Cup thread
