n00b Apr 15, 2006 11:22 AM

We've been through this Jerry:
This topic is NOT the official news source for the game. His Website is the official news source.
If you forgot:
You can access his website by clicking the image in his sig.

Jerrythabest Apr 16, 2006 12:03 AM

you are right.. I forgot the site XD *checks*

Baggers Apr 18, 2006 01:26 AM

Jerry: Sod off.....seriously, I refuse to believe that everyone appart from you can manage to understand that I have a life aswell.
Ive put so much of my free time for the past 2 (-) years into making this game and I'm stll getting (-) from you.

all: Holiday time now, I am off to rwanda today. Going t be great. Sorry I havnt been updating as muc as i did before but a great friend of mine was in hospital and we were there looking after her.

Ok best be off.
See you soon.
Chris

Marijn Apr 18, 2006 03:33 AM

Noob: Nicely sad =)
Baggers: (PA) Enjoy your holiday!

[Personal Attack Edit (not against Baggers fyi) . - FQuist]

Jerrythabest Apr 18, 2006 05:03 AM

against me, FQ? well, I dont care then:) It's gone...

dont think I forgot you have a life;) but still, after that much activity I can't really imagine you suddenly completely stopped and did nothing:lol: sorry if I seem impatient again, I think it's my way of writing:p anyway, have fun in rwanda!

Ðx Jun 5, 2006 09:21 PM

Is it almost finishd?

Baggers Jun 5, 2006 09:55 PM

Unfortunately not, it's not going to be for a while either. life is currently teaching me how to be busy.
The other site still gets update when stuff happens but it has been few and far between. I'm sorry for gettin your hopes up about the completion date, if things had continued how they were before I would be near finishing by now but they haven't, so it isnt.
Please guys don't post "It's not gonna get finished" posts because thats just not true, this is my project and I am dying to complete it but just havnt had the time.
Thanks for understanding
Chris

Falcury Jun 5, 2006 11:19 PM

Awesome project. I really can't wait to see this finished. Don't hurry though, take it easy! :)

Baggers Jun 5, 2006 11:37 PM

Thanks Mate! If you have a peek on the news site...
http://www.eckhart.da.ru/baggers/
...you can find more info there.

Jerrythabest Jun 6, 2006 04:55 AM

I wonder how many % is done :) it'll give a nice view on how many things still have to be done

Baggers Jun 6, 2006 05:33 AM

It would wouldnt it...

Baggers Jun 8, 2006 04:21 AM

Those who are interested in what is happening, please check the news site. Things are running along beautifully at the moment.

EDIT
Sorry for posting again but I'm in a great mood as the following things work brilliantly in the game engine.

* Terrain
* Background Music
* Static Objects
* Platforms (there are two types, those that follow waypoints around a set path, and the traditional ones that rotate on the end of an arm)
* Pickups (so all the food items are spinning and bobbing !

Ah it all looks grand !....Now off to add some physics information to the objects so they interact properly with 'physics objects' (objects that can just be knocked about by forces) and the characters.

Bye

Birdie Jun 9, 2006 06:02 AM

Food That spins and bobbles! ^^

Jerrythabest Jun 9, 2006 09:20 AM

whow, I've never seen my food do so!

Birdie Jun 9, 2006 10:03 AM

Would you mind making a little movie of a watermelon slice doing that?

Megaton Cat Jun 9, 2006 01:40 PM

Hey Baggers

Sorry for the long dry period. Been...busy. With too much stuff to list off.

Glad to see you are still making regular progress...I am still positive this project will be awsome. Anyway, we'll talk more later! :)

-Roman

Jerrythabest Jun 10, 2006 01:01 AM

will be? in my opinion it IS awesome already :-) :)

Baggers Jun 10, 2006 05:09 AM

Birdie: Just let me get the engine working again and I will...got some weird problem at the mo!

Megaton: Thanks man, yeah I'll see you around

Jerry: Hardly awesome just yet....when the character is in this will start to rock though !

n00b Jun 10, 2006 05:24 AM

Jerry is just very, very easy to please. Just give him a copy of an unfnished Super Mario 64 and he'll be amazed

Jerrythabest Jun 10, 2006 05:27 AM

nope, i've got the finished version already ;p

and how do you THINK you know such things about me?

dont do like you don't find this project amazing ;p

Baggers Jun 10, 2006 06:35 AM

*looks up*
.
.
.
Right...moving on

The wee vid you requested...very tiny and very uninteresting but thats what ye asked for!...You will see that the objects move rather jerkily....well they dont actually but a funny effect from the engine and fraps being together causes this:
Ive coded my engine to adapt the speed it refreshes objects, the screen...and various other things, based on the load on the processer. Bacially it optimises itself so it runs at a good speed at all times....however Fraps also adjusts itself to the speed of the computer....So as one adjusts the other adjusts to it...and then they do this repeatedly!...wihout fraps on it runs very smoothly.

Anyway after all that it appears that although I have uploaded the video... that I cant get it...grrrr
Birdie, if you PM me your email address, then I'll email it to you.

Ok back to work
Bye

Baggers Jun 10, 2006 07:45 AM

HAHA what a (-) typical programming problem....Just been hunting through 1500 lines of code to try and find a bug and it turns out that in one place I had
=
instead of
<=
...Thats it.....

...I need a better hobby !

[EDIT]
Perfect !...'tis fixed now. Back to the physics business I was meant to be doing now.
Thats probably all the work I'll get done today though as I'm going for a meal at some friend's house in half and hour.
Bye

Jerrythabest Jun 10, 2006 07:56 AM

no, please dont get a better hobby! then this'll never become what it should become!

Baggers Jun 10, 2006 08:24 AM

WEEEEE just had a load of crates tumble off a ledge using real time decent physics...(-) it rocks !
Thatll be a short vid worth posting

Birdie Jun 10, 2006 08:29 AM

the frame rate is a little jumpy, but other than that it is really cool.

Jerrythabest Jun 10, 2006 09:00 AM

eek I wanna c it too :'(

Torkell Jun 10, 2006 11:01 AM

Been there, done that.

The last one of those I did was using "||" when I meant to use "|". A logical and a bitwise OR are two different things, and "FD_READ || FD_WRITE || FD_ACCEPT" does not work particularly well.

Took me a good hour to track that one down.

Jerrythabest Jun 10, 2006 01:02 PM

I'm glad I don't have to do that :O

Baggers Jun 11, 2006 06:12 AM

Torkell: Ouch !...yeah it sucks !

All: been working on more code today, basically cleaning things up...and trying to add physics objects, however I'm having some large coder problems at the sec cause the game to crash silently (without an error) so I'm now digging to try and find the problem.

Yeah...Seriously man, it was getting there.
I got Jazz loaded in and jumping about collecting stuff a riding the platforms (sounds like Ive gone backwards since the early videos but trust me there was 100 times more code in making MIA as it had to be able to handle any kind of character) and I was just having a really weird bug in the weapon system when life stepped in.
Theres no doubt I want this to go somewhere, and the fact that I have a uni place for a games programming course for the next four years means I will be able to play with this some more.
laters

ThunderPX Jan 28, 2007 02:15 AM

That's fantastic news!

Jerrythabest Jan 28, 2007 11:51 AM
