But then you'd set up rules to disallow MP3s being uploaded to the site, you see. ;)

Birdie Apr 19, 2008 12:07 PM

Blur, please remove multiversion, I'm already tired of tsf n0bs.

DoubleGJ Apr 19, 2008 12:31 PM

the above post really angers me

I used to be a TSF n00b too, you know

I'm tired of people like you who want to go to excessive lengths to keep newer players from playing in other servers.

Stijn Apr 19, 2008 01:03 PM

JJ2+ should have a /mute-like command that does not show the victim that he has been muted, so he can keep spamming all he wants but WHAT HE DOESN'T KNOW IS THAT NO ONE WILL SEE IT...

Jimbob Apr 19, 2008 01:19 PM

like /nmmute <number> (that doesn't show the mute message to that client but it does for everyone else)

EvilMike Apr 19, 2008 01:23 PM

It would be cool if there was a server/admin command that muted a player for everybody in the server. Sometimes people are annoying but not annoying enough to ban or kick. Plus it's a nice way to to tell people you hate them.

Jimbob Apr 19, 2008 02:18 PM

When the server enters /mute, AFAIK it does mute them for the whole server, doesn't it?

As far as I know, it's supposed to. At least, the documentation says it does.

I hope you feel real good about yourself.

I guess I overlooked that. Good feature!

IOTW: Tachy goes to coventry

Stijn Apr 20, 2008 01:03 AM

I wanted to say that but I'm not sure whether it's a universal proverb or just a vBulletin feature...

cooba Apr 20, 2008 01:52 AM

from now on let's mute birdie each time he joins a multiversion server

It could work both for server and client-like the mute feature.

But it's so much fun to swear at/abuse eachother

That sounds like a good idea, but maybe it should have set words instead? We wouldn't want people to replace good with (-), the player being complimented will think they're being insulted.

Birdie Apr 20, 2008 06:25 AM

JJ2 already has a word filter.

DoubleGJ Apr 20, 2008 07:09 AM

yeah
I used to use it

JJ2 also already has an IP banlist which was re-implemented in JJ2+, so..

Jerrythabest Apr 20, 2008 09:48 AM

So let's re-implement more features. How about some single player features? /save 3 saves the game in slot 3, /load 2 loads the game in slot 2, /aw gets you all weapons and /powerup powers them all up. Additionally, /shield 2 gets you the lighting shield and /shield 4 gives you the laser shield. /shieldtime 60 gives you one more minute before time runs out, not a re-implementation but cool anyway.

Oh, yeah, don't forget about /insertcoin that switches to splitscreen, takes one of your coins, inserts them into the new screen part and spawns a second player there. If you want one more player, just type /insertcoin again. You could use /insertcoin 3 to pass one of your lives to player 3 if player 3 has run out of lives. Using /list in local games and LAN games throws them onto the net, /unlistlan unlists an internet game and switches to LAN-only, having all players outside the LAN time out after a few seconds.

cooba Apr 20, 2008 09:56 AM

I wonder how would you want to type those commands in SP.

Same way cheats work. If you press F9 twice, you can see what you're typing left in thre screen.

Jimbob Apr 20, 2008 10:50 AM

@Cooba: just going online, delisting your server and changing the game mode to SP.

Stijn Apr 20, 2008 10:54 AM

Oh, that is way more convenient than starting and saving the normal way indeed.

Nonomu198 Apr 20, 2008 11:05 AM

There is a cheat so you can chat in SP. I think it was european verion only or something, I saw it on an article on j2o a long time ago.

EvilMike Apr 20, 2008 12:04 PM

Even better: make it so if there is a certain byte in a j2l file set a certain way, jj2+ makes it impossible to use cheats in that level in single player >:)

In that case, Plus must have enough SP advantages, so people will want to play single player with Plus. :)

cooba Apr 20, 2008 12:21 PM

Or just make that level unplayable in non-Plus ;)

Nonomu198 Apr 20, 2008 01:41 PM

Wut's so wrong in SP cheating?

While I see no problem goofing off in a level with cheats upon completing it, it completely ruins the challenge if you use cheats the first time through. Quite unfortunately, some players do partake in the latter ruining the originally intended experience.

EvilMike Apr 20, 2008 03:57 PM

There's nothing really wrong with cheating in SP. And I'd never, ever do something extreme like that to block it, because that would just annoy people. I just think it's a funny idea. I do think that when people play a level for the first time they should use no cheats, though.

I do put things in levels to trap cheaters. Booby trapping coin warps is fun.

Jimbob Apr 25, 2008 06:32 PM

@blur: I don't know why this happens, but whenever my server is up for a while (~1 - 2h) and I go into spectator mode it often shows off to the right of the player I am spectating or sometimes it even goes off screen.

Jerrythabest Apr 26, 2008 01:08 AM

Yup, have the same problem here. While Forest's spectator mode had the same bug, you could fix it with Forest by putting a solid tile at pos (0;0), but this does not seem to fix the bug for JJ2+.

And.. OOH *WHOOSH* ADMIN PASS REVEALED! haxorz time XD

Nonomu198 Apr 26, 2008 09:39 AM

Well, as long as we can't see the level's name WE ARE CLUELESS ABOUT EVERYTHING

Jerrythabest Apr 26, 2008 01:03 PM

I can see the level's name :D YAY! CLUES!

Nonomu198 Apr 26, 2008 11:40 PM

Uhhhh you can't see shane's i.p! JIMBOB WINS >O

Jerrythabest Apr 27, 2008 05:53 AM

Shane made the score, so Shane wins imo.

Nonomu198 Apr 27, 2008 05:57 AM

Ok I'm outa ideas

EvilMike Apr 29, 2008 02:28 AM

It might as well be mentioned here.

In single player, insta-kill pits using ctf bases are broken in JJ2+. This breaks several levels, and is very annoying. I am currently working on an update to my level packs so this problem is corrected, but it's still annoying to work around, especially when warps are involved. And I'm betting that if the problem in JJ2+ ever is fixed, the fix I am making will just wind up killing players twice.

I want to know two things. 1. Is this going to be fixed? 2. And if it does get fixed, will that make the player die twice with the edit I'm making to my levels?

If the answer to 2 is yes, or even maybe, I'm not even going to bother fixing the levels. Instead I'll just put a big warning saying "DON'T USE JJ2+". Of course that won't look too good, and I wouldn't like to do that since I would prefer to support JJ2+ rather than tell people not to use it.

Jerrythabest Apr 29, 2008 03:25 AM

Good hint, now I can finally get past devres02.j2l :D yay victoreh

EDIT: Jeez, forgot that you can still fall into those pits :( I'd prefer to lose a life if I fall in, though. Not a good hint after all =(

blurredd Apr 29, 2008 06:55 AM

1. Yes.
2. Apparently not, though it's probably not a good idea to do both.

I should mention that while JJ2+ doesn't really focus on Single Player, I'd still like it to work properly. So point out SP bugs if you see them.

EvilMike Apr 29, 2008 03:19 PM

This seems to be the only SP bug. Everything else works flawlessly, which is to say, completely the same as 1.23/TSF.
