Ragnarok! Jan 3, 2008 04:05 AM

I'm working on a 25-level race pack. I won't show any screenshots. Just for fun.

25 LEVELS?! Wow, that's probably gonna take some time to make!

Ragnarok! Jan 3, 2008 06:15 AM

Olol, some are already made, races are very easy to make, provided you have the right ideas. All you need to have in mind is a set course, maybe a circuit or a straigh line, maybe even a "There and Back" thing like in Boomerang by Cooba, and the course mustn't allow some form of being lame. Add some interesting obstacles, and maybe shortcuts to spice it up for those more experienced. And also, race is the best gametype ever. ;D

Sacrush Jan 3, 2008 08:37 AM

I find race levels to be more of a challenge to make then almost any game type. I know it's a lot more work then CTF and battle levels.

Raven aka StL Jan 4, 2008 07:16 AM

That depends on level size and quality, but in general it might even be so.

Sacrush Jan 4, 2008 07:36 AM

Race levels should be bigger, or else you are done before you started.

Unhit Jan 4, 2008 09:29 AM

It's done :D
Nightfall in Noobland
enjoy ;P

Jimbob Jan 4, 2008 12:57 PM

Diamondus Wonderland

Finally finished enough for me to get a screen-shot:

Raven aka StL Jan 4, 2008 06:07 PM

Jimbob, don't force levels.

Jimbob Jan 4, 2008 07:03 PM

What? I don't get what you mean.

TripleJ Jan 5, 2008 03:36 PM

Hmm yeah it looks ok Jimbob

Unhit Jan 6, 2008 04:34 AM

i like the waterfall that goes from fore- to background :D

Hitch Jan 6, 2008 06:05 AM

...Although sometimes if you look at it closely, it looks like a bug :P

Violet CLM Jan 6, 2008 12:11 PM

And if you look at it other times, you notice it's two different layers that presumably move at different x speeds (certainly different y speeds)and only happened to line up that way.

Jimbob Jan 6, 2008 04:31 PM

As you can see, the biggest gimmick in my level is the in-game changeable water level. However, some people hate water in levels, so I did two things:
1) I have added an option to turn off the water (however this only works locally)
2) I have made a light version of the level (so it doesn't have any water).
And yes I know flamethrowers don't work under water FYI. ;P
*EDIT: I have also made another light version without the leaves in the foreground.

Stijn Jan 6, 2008 04:37 PM

LEAVES IN FOREGROUND = WTF

n00b Jan 6, 2008 04:38 PM

Woah we can say WTF now? never realized that.
Level design looks nifty though extremely track-like

Violet CLM Jan 6, 2008 06:25 PM

...well, of course they're in the foreground. Look how big they are!

EvilMike Jan 6, 2008 06:33 PM

Didn't seem like a bad level when I played it, but take away some of the waterfalls in the foreground. Too much stuff in the foreground is bad in multiplayer levels, unless you intentionally want to obstruct the view for gameplay reasons.

Jimbob Jan 6, 2008 07:07 PM

I'm just trying to add some interesting eyecandy - I'm not meaning for the players to hate it D:

I mainly went "WTF" as I recommended Jimbob several times to cut down or take out those leaves because excessive foreground stuff is annoying yet he keeps cluttering the foreground more and more.

Raven aka StL Jan 7, 2008 04:51 AM

Typical eyecandy spam. :D
Remember that a theme for the level, as well as good gameplay come before eye-candy. If all you go for is eye-candy, not much good can come out of it.

EDIT: On a side note, I'm adding finishing touches to North Star, and it will be finished tonight or tuesday. Nevertheless, I'll be hosting it, finished, on wednesday.

Eigus Jan 7, 2008 06:42 AM

yay North Star ;D

Stijn Jan 7, 2008 07:15 AM

cooba Jan 7, 2008 02:38 PM

Don't make a light version, but remove the leaves from the final.

Jimbob Jan 7, 2008 05:00 PM

Well I like the leaves but some people hate them (hint hint.) So I will barely include any leaves (if any at all) in the final.
(and delete the "light" version without the leaves, since this is useless.)
EDIT: Is this better? ;P

There is still a few leaves but NOT NEARLY as much as before. ;d

Stijn Jan 8, 2008 02:57 AM

;d

Krinya Jan 9, 2008 11:47 AM

I will release the JJ2 The Movie 2 later than Jan. 27. I postpone (good word here?) the pack to Feb. 20. Because I levelling up in an another game:rolleyes: (Sorry! :D)

And credits will be used again at the end of the pack :P
+another technicues (good spelling?) used! ;)
+Spaz used in the story. You can select him, but you need to select the "Spaz warp" at the start. Using Jazz, you need to use the "Jazz warp"! XD Enough of "warping"! XD
+Trigger animations used well.

I don't tell now more, back to work! :)

Looks like treasure 2 or sth.
And the background is awesome.

Hitch Jan 15, 2008 12:32 PM

Haha, I agree with Emperor, the background is just awesome.

Since you asked, yes it was good (although not perfect) spelling. You were a letter off however, the actual spelling is "techniques". You were close enough anyways

Jimbob Jan 15, 2008 07:44 PM

Actually I decided to change the name to "A Night in the Park" shortly after uploading the screen shot.

Raven aka StL Jan 16, 2008 12:29 AM

I hope that ain't the final background.
The spring system looks boring.

Otherwise not bad, but you've got a lot to learn.

Stijn Jan 16, 2008 12:55 AM

Looks good, Jimbob. Is that Single Player?

It looks a little empty though, consider adding some more eyecandy or more background.
