Goddammed pulverized, I'm telling ya.

Eigus Dec 31, 2008 02:48 AM

R3p, combo breaker :(

Looks nice, DS, I like the bg with the pipes.

DarkSonic Dec 31, 2008 04:54 AM

Actually, that's not the bg.. it's in layer 4. I haven't made a background yet (still have to do layer 6 and 7) And by the way, be ever judicious!

Yes, but that's still in the background because it's unmasked ;p

P.S. Be ever judicious!

TechnoPauluz Jan 1, 2009 01:55 PM

Now I wanna know what judicious means... O well...

Ben eens verstandig you frois de merde chien.!!!

Violet CLM Jan 5, 2009 07:23 PM

I died a split second after this picture was taken. This dude is gloriously scary coming out of absolutely nowhere. (Hard and Turbo only.)

DarkSonic Jan 7, 2009 07:57 AM

<3 that screenshot.

This is another screenshot of my new level:

But what's with the blue base? Find It Out.

Raven aka StL Jan 7, 2009 01:19 PM

Looks nice, as usual, but I gotta point out that using the same tiles for the buildings in the background as well as in the foreground and/or layer 4 is a bit uncool.

EvilMike Jan 7, 2009 01:49 PM

Good use of the tileset there. Better than what I've managed to do with it. I have to say the first screenshot is a bit boring though - there has to be something more interesting to show us than a wall.

DarkSonic Jan 7, 2009 03:05 PM

Now it seems that the second screenshot doesn't work anymore. Anyway:

Emp: those buildings in the walls are in layer 5. Layer 6 and 7 contain a lot of buildings. But I understand what you mean; it might look confusing so I'll put something else in the walls.

EM: that was the level in an early state. The level is pretty big and open. The EC might be a bit random in the walls. But I'll have something to show when the level is done (that could take a while)

Eigus Jan 9, 2009 02:15 AM

Those buildings in the walls look nice, DS. Good idea IMO. : D

Hitch Jan 9, 2009 08:26 PM

Well I've been working on something in particular the past week. Had a little trouble in the beginning, but after that bump in the road, it was pretty smooth. This project took about 5 hours overall, and yes, It's done. Now what game type could it possibly be? I'll give a hint, it's not ctf. Now if you know what I've been building please do not give away the game mode, but as for everyone else, let the guessing begin!

Picture one: Nothing special. Start room?

Picture two: Still nothing. A carrot? Some sucker tubes? That's obviously the middle... Or is it?

Picture three: Well that's interesting. Power up room?

Picture four: The last of them. Believe it or not, this gives it away, if you can find what I'm talking about ;)

As for the level itself, not sure what I'll be doing with it. Maybe I'll be adding it to Memories 3? Or maybe not. Maybe I'll upload it by itself. This will have to take some thinking.

FawFul Jan 10, 2009 03:12 AM

i <3 that blue fade.

Jozsi NN Jan 10, 2009 03:43 AM

OMG hitch it is brilliant.

And now some information about my pack:
+I finished shadowing on level5 and I finished almost the 6th level too, I nearly completed level7 but I will put some extra on this level.
+Now I making special effects, sounds, ect... like on this picture.

Tell me your oppinion about this effect!
It is better then before or not. THX.

Troglobite Jan 10, 2009 11:52 AM

To Jozsi: I like the walls with missing pieces better than the before picture.

To Hitch: Umm, I don't know what mode that could be. It's got the CTF score thingy in the top corner, so it must be a team event. The Power-Up room is something usally found in Hotels. So is it a team hotel level?

Raven aka StL Jan 10, 2009 01:00 PM

++Troglobite :D

Anyway, one could expect that to be Assassination, although the 4th pic doesn't really give it away at all. Looks nice, but you still have stuff to learn about level-making.

Your not looking hard enough!

And trog, it's not Hotel related at all.

Jimbob Jan 10, 2009 07:25 PM

Looks like it's something like Jailbreak to me.

Hammer Jan 11, 2009 02:42 AM

Im currently buzy building a Single Player level.
Here's a screenshot:

Its called A Diamondy Day.

FawFul Jan 11, 2009 04:53 AM

Now, tell me, which part is actually masked?

Hammer Jan 11, 2009 09:21 AM

You'll find out once its finished.

There is nothing in that (4th) pic that is idiosyncratic to any given gamemode alone.
Neither is there anything I have yet to notice. :)
Feel free to explicate.

Take a look at the scrolling bars to imagine the size of the whole level. And it's gonna be adequately long in terms of gameplay, at least at first attemp - there are also a few speedrunning secrets and tricks just like in other levels to see how fast can you be. Just trying to make up for the long production time just a bit before everything's wrapped up. Plus I needed to fill in a hole in the storyline.

CrimiClown Jan 13, 2009 09:17 AM

2×GJ, that is HUGE. It must have taken you ages. Let's hope it's just as 'huge' in terms of enjoyment when played. ;)

Stijn Jan 13, 2009 09:30 AM

Make backups! I once had a level in progress even bigger than that... and then my hard disk died.

SPAZ18 Jan 13, 2009 11:08 AM

OMG! I would never have the patience to make a level THAT BIG!
What is that size?

TechnoPauluz Jan 13, 2009 01:39 PM

Woot! :P that looks very big & nice but if it's gonna be an battle it would take ages to find each other ;) GJ, and yes... Save it on your mailbox for example... Lost levels by crashing pc = :r:drugs:*hypno*

Raven aka StL Jan 13, 2009 02:14 PM

Whoa, that's almost as big as my long time project.

How long have you been working on it?

TechnoPauluz Jan 13, 2009 03:08 PM

Some Pictures of the finished level and the gameplay...

An overal picture...

Some picture of the paralax view, the green transparant zone is not passable by Jazz without let him being frogged.

http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/r...rFrogging3.jpg

Now the Blue coin trigger is set! It's that simple if u know it ;)

The frog looks crazy and want to get the coin with his tongue... On the left u see the blue trigger that was set by the handle... Time to grab coins!

Some example of a shield getted with sugar rush and stupid Jazz who wants to try enter the frog only zone...

Whoohoo :D

Memories...

Well I've kept it a secret long enough. There will be a sequel to Memories 2: Radiant Garden. This one will be the 3rd... Memories 3: Imagination. Saying, it will be kept on a theme, 'futuristic' type levels. One for example, would be the pictures I posted early this past week. If you guessed Bank Robbery, your correct!

The pack will include the following: Flag Run x2, Assassination x2, Bank Robbery x1, and maybe a few others. All I can say now is, those game types will definitely be in the pack. Bank Robbery has already been created and finished, and one of the Flag Run levels, has been in progress for about 3 days now. (50% done)

I mainly choosed these types of game types mainly because JDC is in need for some new levels. I've had a little background knowledge in Flag run, but as for the others, none what so ever. But, that will change. I've studied how the system works for both Assassination and Bank Robbery, and overall, it's pretty simple to catch on to, if you know what to look for.

I can say this pack will finish a lot faster than the previous Memories, because I had so many delays, including after school clubs. That should not get in the way of this. I want to release this pack Near Late March. If I can't reach the deadline, It will most likely be around the beginning of June. Still not to bad right?

A pack with no Ctf/Battle levels... really?

Something to keep you busy with: (not done)

Just this level? Excluding the Christmas break in which I didn't do anything, that would be... 2 weeks? No idea how long is only the time I really worked on it. But it's still not finished anyway. You can even see an empty space on the right.

Technopauluz, that level looks like fun. :D And my level's single player, not battle. ;P

Two weeks of work isn't all that surprising actually, since according to DoubleGJ it was spread out over a while. Assuming you only work on it an hour a day, that's 14 hours of work, and a person experienced with JCS can get A LOT done in that amount of time, especially with a good plan. If you look at that screenshot, the level (while gigantic) has a lot of solid walls and large cavernous spaces. This means layout-wise, the level probably isn't mind-bogglingly complex or anything. Also, you'll notice that much of the eyecandy is copied and pasted, which saves a lot of time (and this is a good thing, since it's only something you can notice when the level is zoomed out like that).

So in other words, it's a very impressive screenshot, but finding out that it is a product of two weeks of work is pretty normal. After all, the level isn't done yet, and it looks like it still needs pickups and enemies, and of course testing (which always takes forever because you have to play through the level like 100 times).
