No the worst analogy created by man is
"We're making two versions of the xbox 360 to give people a choice, like Aplle has different versions of the ipod"

I appreciate you trying to reward me, but until a timecop removes the above analogy, I can't accept it.

Oh, I thought it was a brighter green range then the light green used in the JJ2 pallete. In that case, use less of the brighter colors, and employ another method of shading; pillow shading sucks.

I just mean that all the sprites are of the same size. Can I edit your head? Odin are saying: The colours are to lightgreen.

GoldRabbit Sep 10, 2006 10:33 AM

you can put jazz's animations in the place of devan's and you battle a jazz clone:D

LittleFreak Sep 10, 2006 11:13 AM

You can also do that by using MCEs.

PurpleJazz Sep 10, 2006 11:44 AM

Does JSD work with The christmas Chronicles?

Best topic revival ever.

Try it and be amazed! There's a 50% chance of it working! Why even bother asking? :D

n00b Sep 10, 2006 01:06 PM

If it works with Battery Check, it more than likely works with CC.

Pako Sep 10, 2006 01:41 PM

Did someone's already made a j2a edit to play as Devan?

Radium Sep 10, 2006 02:35 PM

So, I forget, did the program ever gain the capability to change the number of frames in an animation and edit sounds?

No to both.

PurpleJazz Sep 11, 2006 10:08 AM

Whenever I try it just comes up with:

File found with size 1019904
File has the same size as Jazz2 v1.24
But is either corrupted or not a Jazz2 binary

Birdie Sep 11, 2006 04:58 PM

Did you patch the jazz2 exe?

Grytolle Sep 11, 2006 08:42 PM

He still has a shareware.

LittleFreak Sep 11, 2006 11:15 PM

What? No, that was that other guy. Purplejazz has the full version as far as I know.

Dermo Sep 15, 2006 12:32 PM

This stupid thing is going to ruin my idea of making jazz into a third person shooter (lol most ppl say it can't be done but if you spend long enough drawing it all out, it may be quite possible)!!!

n00b Sep 15, 2006 12:59 PM

It's been out for months, how the hell can it ruin your idea now?
And STUPID? My god, this is the greatest JJ2 Innovation for a long while, and you call it STUPID?
How dense are you?

Dermo Sep 15, 2006 01:13 PM

mono could've done better on this stupid thing...

...and i haven't been on jcf for months...

...and i think you're the dense one

anymore questions?

Something that views sprites, edits them, exports them, and can change various features such as dimensions, gunspot, hotspot can only be done better with something that edits the ammount of frames the sprites have. That's one feature we don't have. In fact, using your logic, JJ2 is stupid because it lost the bonus stages. That is not sound logic at all.

This was released March 3rd 2006, you're posting history shows that you posted on April 1st, 2006, 04:31 PM through September 15th, 2006, 05:14 PM without any large gaps at all. You should have heard about it.

Considering I haven't lied about when I've been on the JCF, and I'm using proof not tossing random crap in the air like you seem to be doing, and because I do not use the elipses in a terrible fashion, I still find the opposite to be true.

Yes in fact I do, didn't the demo of JJ3 beat your idea of a Jazz TPS by, oh, I don't know, 5-6 years? And how exactly is a sprite editor/viewer/exporter for a 2d sidescrolling game supposed to ruin a TPS fangame? Why did you lie about your time spent on the JCF? Why are you misusing the poor elipses?

JJ2 functions and is playable without the bonus stages. JSD loses a great deal of functionality without the ability to change the number of frames... certainly the majority of the changes I would like to make suffer from it.

n00b Sep 15, 2006 01:57 PM

The definition of functionality is "A set of attributes that bear on the existence of a set of functions and their specified properties. The functions are those that satisfy stated or implied needs."
The ability to edit the ammount of frames is neither stated nor implied by Neobeo, or JSD, thus JSD does not lose functionality in the slightest.

EDIT- By the way, excerpt from #JJ2:
Neobeo, your product, JSD, has been charged of being STUPID, how do you plead?
hmmm... i plead "WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE IN A NEW VERSION OF JSD :D"

Violet CLM Sep 15, 2006 06:06 PM

...umm... if I need to be able to edit the number of frames, either stated or implied, and that function is not available, I rather think that constitutes impaired functionality... oh, never mind. Not worth arguing about.

Neobeo Sep 15, 2006 06:53 PM

... and not going to happen anyway, unless someone suddenly decides to release a new version of JSD.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Neobeo did a very good job on this. Maybe if I had the time to work on it, but I have not taken the time where as Neobeo has. And his progam is far more useful than my lack of a program. If you are complaining about a lack of flexability with the sprites, I imagine this lack of flexibility is more because of the game and not this utility.

Birdie Sep 16, 2006 09:17 AM

I want an undo button. :(

Marijn Oct 30, 2006 08:49 AM

And Batch mode!

Yeah because if there's one thing any sprite editor needs, it's the ability to edit sounds.

I want the JCS to be able to make me a mocha, because mochas have everything to do with editing levels.

It's not really the fact that it's a sprite editor that makes it special. MS Paint is a sprite editor. Graphics Gale is a sprite editor. This is a J2A editor. And J2As also have sound. And really, I don't see the point in turning Devil Devan into Goku if he's still going to giggle like a mad scientist and make squish noises when he jumps.

wish sounds ! But.. not "just" make a program for that...

Neobeo Oct 31, 2006 06:04 PM

This project has been abandoned

Seriously though, a new version is in planning stage, but with less free time on my hands than usual, it may be a long time before this sees the light of day. Also, I still haven't quite figured out how sounds work in the J2A, so the new version probably still won't come with a sound editor. This could probably be added in a later stage as an add-on to JSD or something, probably with the help of IceMAN or Dr Eggman or anyone who has more experience with sounds.

Marijn Oct 31, 2006 10:16 PM

I could use some information in the JJA, like the point where a frame (of one animation) starts, and the width and height of it, how can I get that information ?

Neobeo Oct 31, 2006 11:23 PM

Well, unfortunately neither the width nor height is stored in the J2A (if I recall correctly) so you'll have to calculate it yourself from the umm... bytecodes.

Well, I just want that information because I need a handy format for my own game, but with animations I'm really stuck ( with gfx, and how to save them ).

However, Not to go to much offtopic, I could use Jazz for an example.

Thomasn64 Dec 28, 2006 10:02 AM

Idea

Maby people can start posting there animi file with there level packs.

Grytolle Dec 28, 2006 10:07 AM

or maby not :lori:

Strato Dec 28, 2006 11:41 AM

It's a shame this project seems to be stagnant. Not saying Neo is to blame, I understand how priorities change. But this semi-incomplete build isn't enough for a lot of people's ideas apparently.

Perhaps he can release the source, if he didn't.

What are your ideas ? Don't forget this tool "just" replace values. So adding more or less frames is perhaps possible, but would not be good. However adding more functions ( undo options and layers perhaps ? ) would be nice.
