Something I started working on recently:

This is gonna be a CTF level and it'll take place in a big mansion.
I haven't really made any progress on the Assault level for quite some time. I don't know if I'll ever finish it.

Stupid JPG ruining the quality.

PurpleJazz Aug 31, 2009 12:57 PM

I really like how that screenshot looks, the ambient lighting used there adds a lot of atomsphere.

However, there are a few (unpreventable?) tile bugs, such as the "missing piece" of the shadowing underneath the floor, which just doesn't look right. Still, nice job.

EvilMike Aug 31, 2009 07:00 PM

Good to see people using that tileset (either TSF or 1.23 version). I find it's very underused, and like it a lot better than the city tileset. Great palette on that particular version, too.

Now if only I could get my hands on that tileset p4ul posted...

At least we have snooze's screenshot to drool over in the mean time. Projects which use custom made tilesets are the best.

Violet CLM Aug 31, 2009 09:46 PM

This cute lil' fellow is more trouble to get working than he's worth, really, but badniks are something I don't want to leave out. Actually the whole zone/planet/whatever is a bit of a trial... I've had to reorganize the palette a few times, and initial testing has already revealed that several of my initial plans for features won't work because JJ1 doesn't handle the relevant behaviors quite the way I hoped it did. Expect a stripped down Marble Zone with as much as I can figure out how to cram in but not everything by any means.

Snooze, nice background. Layers with speeds beyond 1/1 are never much cared for, and that's a great job at making a reasonable background that still uses tiles rather than (exclusively) precomposed images.

Work in progress :D

How is the graphical style? Im looking for comments on it since the sets are made especially for this project so they need to be good quality.

Superjazz Sep 1, 2009 06:34 AM

It reminded me about Mirrow's darkness-set at the first look, but I guess the rest of the tileset is going to be different anyway.

The set is in fact inspired by jungrock, but i agree with the rocks being similiar to the ones in darkness. however, in game and when this is complete it will look more like an overgrown forest or something like that. :P

I am not good in rating/commenting on tilesets but I can say that tileset (and the style) looks good so far ;0

(about snz' screenshot)

And Violet's screenshot is <3

Anything Sonic-related is good, and I see it has things from Marble Zone :D

Definitely some things to look forward to here. The sp pack with new tilesets is especially interesting. Since it'll use new tilesets we expect to see a lot of creative ideas, since you aren't limited to what premade sets offer. Oh, and the quality looks good so no worries.

The Jazz1 screenshots look interesting too.

The style is very good. It's a more cartoonish look than some tilesets, but I like that.

Serious TR2 vibes there. Nice! I can't say I care for the clouds, though, too simple even for simple.

Dermo Sep 3, 2009 07:39 PM

I previewed the level, it's amazing. You can go from vine to vine to reach different areas.

Top Secret

(Bump?)

Any-who, for anyone who knew about my onslaught level that I said I would make, well, it's no longer a rumor, but a fact! And I have proof of that. Yeah, this is part of the long lost, Memories 3: Imagination, but anyways that's beside the point. Well, here goes the 2 month project of the Onslaught level, in progress:

Sorry to tease, but there's only very little completed, just thought I'd show what I was doing in my little spare time... And what the fruity-loops happened to this thread!? It can't be dead can it? : (

PurpleJazz Nov 9, 2009 11:51 PM

Good to see you're still working on that pack.

It's also great to see that more Onslaught levels are being made, as it's one of the most fun types of Assault in my opinion. The screenshot looks fine, aside from the fact that I think the fade colour is a little too bright and so clashes with the rest of the level. I suggest making it just a little bit darker, and this should improve things.

snzspeed Nov 10, 2009 12:06 AM

great to see someone revived this thread. it was about time :)

PS. nice screens hitch :D

I have so far kind of finished one level. this project is made in tsf because the levels will be very big and i want to make use of the tsf engine :)

JustRob Nov 10, 2009 06:47 AM

Been working on a little Medivo level, it's pretty much the first level I ever made. I don't know if it's going on J2O though, it's pretty short. I just did it because I loved Medivo in JJR1, and didn't like how it was completely different in JJR2.

The other screenshot doesnt have foreground stuff at all, unless you count the snow :)

Sacrush Nov 11, 2009 05:38 AM

Some good stuff coming up! I've been missing a lot since I left.

Keep up the great work guys. :-)

I'm gonna start spamming fanolint as soon as the weekend arrives. =P

I started to make an assault lvl a little while ago and its going to be pretty nice in my eyes if i look how its going now. Little downside is that it uses 1.24 because it has more then 1024 tiles + animation tiles (Using the tileset Islands). However if i got the motivation to finish this it will probably be a verry unique lvl (Eh, yeah many levels are unique...). Im also using the reworder for a big part of the gameplay (Not saying that this is special or makes the level great).

Dont think that many people care about this level, I cant provide screenshots because my way of making levels is kinda different then others. But still, this might become a nice assault level :)

Betatesters Needed! Memories 3 complete! (Just about)

So I'm just about complete with Memories 3: Imagination. Haha I know it's been quite some time since the start of this pack. What was it, April? May? Who cares, it's just about done.

I could have released this pack 2 months ago, but 5 levels seemed limited to what I originally wanted, which was like 8. Anyways, I need beta testers, and I'm in no hurry to release this pack right away. So please, if you want to help, give me a PM On J2O/JCF, or e-mail me. (On Profile) Note, this pack contains no CTF or Battle levels (Secret: Maybe at the release), so if you just want to seek out tile bugs, feel free to!

Also, I've had many mixed feeling about also making a CTF version of my JB level, The penitentiary system. So if you want to give your opinions, please do. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, give me a PM, including your e-mail address and I'll send the level right over!

I should be hosting these levels towards the end of November, so hopefully I'll be able to get some live action beta testing going on, as I will have a lot of free time after this weekend. Well that's about it from me. Hope to hear your responses! :)

Holy smokes! Great work, Dodges.

That looks sweet, DodgeS. I'd say it's too bright, though.

DoubleGJ Dec 26, 2009 10:19 AM

Looks awesome, though I wish the background layers were a bit more than layer 4 with bleaker colors. I may be mistaken, though.
