Yeah that would be cool...maybe a little hard to code..but cool !
Oh has anyone heard from Hare in a while?...im dying to use that Jazz Model he was working on.

Blackraptor Mar 26, 2005 10:16 AM

Last time he posted something on the JCF was Feb 26.

Btw, I really like some of the ideas n00b suggested.

piet Mar 26, 2005 10:34 AM

Baggers Mar 26, 2005 10:41 AM

Well only if 'Unknown Rabbit' doesnt mind, as i dont want to cause any bad blood between people over this little project. However if all is good with her then feel free ! That would be two fan sites !

Violet CLM Mar 26, 2005 02:53 PM

Her, eh? That's a new one with this name...

Uh, go ahead. It's not like there wasn't Possum World and Possum Universe and Possum 2 City and goodness knows what else.

Baggers Mar 26, 2005 04:15 PM

You heard the man !...go for it !
@Unknown: sorry i put her as im sure i heard your were female...if im wrong just say !

I think I know what caused that. But that's irrelevant. ;p

Baggers Mar 27, 2005 04:26 AM

K!

Anyway back on track...I am currently working on the turtle AI...just spent the last 20mins hunting down a bug in the waypoint system but thats fixed now, so patrols are live !
This allows for up to 8 different locations for a creature to patrol.

Baggers Mar 27, 2005 08:30 AM

Well for some reason i never stop trying to model and this time it actualy came out ok...this is the WIP of the turtle.

HOLY COW...ive nearly shifted a gig of data from my webspace this month...and i did the same last month, thanks people !

Sonyk Mar 27, 2005 10:26 AM

I thought you said you weren't good at modeling... That looks great! I wanna see it textured...

But, if you can do the turtle that nicely, I'd think that the bat'll look nice too.

Baggers Mar 27, 2005 10:50 AM

@Sonyk: wow thanks !...yeah this is the model im most pleased with so far...now i need to learn to texture things properly !
I may give the bat a go soon...its the animating thats going to be the hard bit !

@All: The turtle is hunting me !....hehe it chased me but i led it into a pit...it go stuck and i shot it !

Baggers Mar 27, 2005 10:57 AM

Hmm a little help needed here folks.
Can anyone tell me how much damage each weapon does in relation to the 'number of hits to kill' details on this page ?
http://www.jazz2online.com/J2Ov2/node.php?title=badGuys

Sorry its just that im not sure my details are acurate.

If it helps you, though I'm sure you know this already, the bat has 2 stances... hanging from event pos, and flying. If you want to make it accurate, the bat starts hanging from it's position, until the character comes within a range of 3 tiles (or whatever unit of measurement you will use), then starts flying. If you leave its range, it'll return to the start position, still flying.

Baggers Mar 27, 2005 03:35 PM

@Unknown: thanks, ive put in the blaster and bouncer damage now...ive killed me my first bat and turtle !

@Sonyk: Thanks...yeah mine works like that except ive allowed the bat to go back to sleep at its original position if i am out of range...just as i felt it a bit messy to have him flying about still!...but if people would rather i left him flying then thats no problem either.

@All: Just seen the first concept shots from our level designer and my smile is HUGE...this guy is great and by the looks of things we will have some great things to show within a month !

IMPORTANT
I just wanted to run this idea by you guys before myself and 'Pudbawl' (the level designer) start work, would you rather we started on the actual game levels or the demo ones... i can still release a demo it just wont be a complete game....The advantage of not having the seperate demo means we can start on the actual game now and that means more content !

If you are ok with this please say and also which levels you would like to see in what order, i currently have the first sketches for the first castle and diamondus levels

I hope your ok with this move.

Sonyk Mar 27, 2005 04:46 PM

Well, the Jazz2 shareware was a bunch of new levels... Either way, that sounds good, especially with the J3DCS (or whatever you'll call it), so we can get started too.

Baggers Apr 3, 2005 04:12 AM

Cool, thought you might like a pic of some old friends...two carrot type scenery pieces, im trying to learn some modeling at the moment so this is my first real attempt at them, and critic is welcome !...Ive just upgraded DarkbasicPro, and so ive been gettin the game working again, however the good thing is that the file size of the exe's is megs less so demos should be smaller filesize from now on.

Oh heres that pic !

Done some more !

Stijn Apr 3, 2005 06:12 AM

Why is that less-high carrot orange instead of purple as on the screenshot?

For the rest, it looks nice.

Baggers Apr 3, 2005 06:16 AM

As i wanted the version to be for the day shots, as apposed to the darker levels later on. Thanks for the comments

DoubleGJ Apr 3, 2005 07:09 AM

The purple one is not a carrot, it's a beet.

Baggers Apr 3, 2005 07:25 AM

Oh !...in that case ill have to change it ! hehe im a dumbass sometimes !

cooba Apr 3, 2005 10:45 AM

I got to see majority of Jungle's tiles redrawn. Whee.

Baggers Apr 3, 2005 10:49 AM

Good point, will have to have a go at some of them soon!

Stormie Apr 4, 2005 01:06 AM

You really coming along baddgers. I really wanna see how this turns out in the end.

Baggers Apr 4, 2005 07:13 AM

Hehe not another one who calls me 'badgers' ! (or in this case 'baddgers' !)
Thanks though, i hope you'll like the game when its done.

Stormie Apr 4, 2005 07:41 AM

What, do you like being called something else? :)

Baggers, right Baggers?

LittleFreak Apr 4, 2005 09:28 AM

The beet looks a bit wrong, the green part should be more in front.

Other than that, nice. :)

I was more for making the demo first, so people can play it and tell you what they like and don't like.

That way, the actual game turns out better, no?

Baggers Apr 4, 2005 09:44 AM

Oh therell be beta editions, its just we would like to get right into the level design. The thing is I finally have a commited modeler by the looks of it and hes doing some great stuff so to get the most we can from it we are developing the actual game.

LittleFreak Apr 4, 2005 09:48 AM

So you will be releasing beta versions of the actual game?

cooba Apr 4, 2005 10:07 AM

If most of the game companies do, why couldn't he?

Baggers Apr 4, 2005 10:09 AM

Yep, but its a while yet...sorry this drags out , theres just so much to code !
And model...which is why im trying to get my hands dirty on that too !

Oh good news though, the new update for DBpro allows for very accurate and fast shadow generation so hopefully i can get that incorperated on jazz....and it will look great with the model. Hare is still working on it so I hear, and im so looking foreward to the result !

Baggers Apr 5, 2005 02:32 AM

Hey people, ive been experimenting with shadows and the results are looking very nice.
However till saturday i will unfortunatly not be gracing these forums as I am hikinh 100km to raise money for my Gap year. So that means no updates from me !
however at request from a member of this forum i thought id post up a WIP video of a level, its in very early Beta remember and so does not have trees and such yet, buts its only a rought 3d sketch. Hope you like !
