Anniversary Bash VI

Any volunteers who'd like to put together the level packs for Jazz2's sixth birthday? Or people who'd like to host the servers? Please apply here and we'll contact you.

Lark Feb 26, 2004 06:34 PM

I'd like to help in some way. I could host servers, but I ping about 2/5 of the time. The other 3/5, I can host pretty fast 512K servers. Or I could help gather levels. Either way.

Odin Feb 26, 2004 07:49 PM

I can make some battle levels. Just be warned that i'm new around here, but I had Jazz2 for 5 years.I don't feel like hosting, since I can't. (Stup listserver error.)

If you want some battle levels, just contact me. I'll make 2 or 3.

Battle and CTF levels will probably be gathered from the J2O downloads, and the picks will be the best of 2003-2004. At least, that is what I would expect.

Therefore if you think levels worthy (and trust me, worthyness to be in an ABash is tough), I would upload them to j2o first.

If I may be so bold, I think this year's ABash celebration should be themed, at least in portion, around Jazz1. This is, after all, Jazz1's 10th anniversary. So some battle levels based on Jazz1 tilesets would be good, in my opinion, which indeed is all that was.

My two cents.

$tilettø Feb 26, 2004 10:07 PM

i could host. but there are probaly people arround with faster connections, since @home doesnt have THAT fast of a upload speed.

AvK Feb 27, 2004 03:04 AM

I can host.

Newspaz Feb 27, 2004 04:25 AM

Well, maybe we can do something special for Jazz's tenth anniversary. Which will be at August 1st.

DoubleGJ Feb 27, 2004 06:57 AM

Maybe Epic is planning something, like Sega when Sonic had his 10th anniversary? Surely not.

Trafton Feb 27, 2004 09:56 AM

I'd be willing to do something again.

I selfishly nominate Bob to host. His ISP is among the fastest in the world and I am fully jealous of him.

Odin Feb 27, 2004 10:17 AM

Well, I have a lot of Violet conversions. I'll do a few.

My idea was that the levels I made would be exclusively for the ABash. I've made some levels before, and people said they were very good, ableit small. So i'll work on larger levels. (Like 110 x 110.)

If you want me to make some battle levels, i'll make a few. If not, i'll be depressed, but i'll make the levels anyway.

Make levels, Odin.

If you do make levels, we can not guarantee they will be in the pack. The person who will make the level packs will have too choose as many levels as possible, with tilesets pretty much everybody has. So we can make sure there will be no download lag.

MaGoo Feb 27, 2004 11:43 AM

I've been working on on a little CTF level here and there, but if anyone likes I'll actually work on it and it'll be done by AB6.

FireSworD Feb 27, 2004 04:25 PM

It may be just me, but there seems to be a huge shortage of
new, A-Bash quality battle levels.

So for anyone who says they want to try and make
CTF levels for the event, I strongly suggest focusing on battle.

Blackraptor Feb 27, 2004 05:38 PM

I can make some battle levels (with jj1 sets if requested) although I cannot assure acceptable quality and completion on time, since rushing levels = not good. I'll make some anyways, heck with it. Other than that, I can contribute to help compile the AB pack, but I doubt I'll have time to do it alone. Just contact me via PM (if my JCF inbox is full use j2o), MSN, mIRC or just jj2.

I concurr. :)

And I don't really have anything else to add, having not made any levels in the past year... ;___; But I'll be there!

got soon a small level pack release.. if i won't make the deadline ill release 1 of them in advance..

Spotty Mar 7, 2004 03:57 PM

I might be able to host = P.

defalcon Mar 8, 2004 11:46 PM

Nien. Haven't made any new levels for a year.

Spaztic: Good idea.

Hare Mar 8, 2004 11:57 PM

I've only been to one anneversary bash. So whats the big day? Maybe I can get something done by then, then host a dedicated server on my cable connection... I hope I won't be busy then.

SteelTalon Mar 9, 2004 03:53 PM

not making any promises, but there is a certain CTF level that's been sitting on my hard drive...

Radium Mar 10, 2004 03:43 AM

CORNFLAKE01! DO IT! DO IT NOW!

Unhit Mar 10, 2004 09:15 AM

Are any levels chosen so far? If so, could I have a look at the list please?

R3ptile Mar 10, 2004 10:04 AM

There are many new good levels like Waterfall Caves, Galactic Warfare, The Zerox Factory, Medieval Skyscrapers, Distopia (never seen it in any AB), Heavenly Havoc, Another Kind of CTF, All Your Base CTF, Moree Mines, Jungle's Edge, and many other levels I don't remember.

blurredd Mar 10, 2004 03:46 PM

Mike doesn't like Distopia, and Mike's word is gold. I personally think I've seen Distopia enough times for the next few years, so I vote that it isn't included in the next Anniversary Bash pack. Same with Diamondus Warzone.

Trafton Mar 10, 2004 03:52 PM

Distopia has been in nearly a thousand AB's. Or at least it seems like that. I know at least that it was included last year, and probably the year before. DW is a perrenial, but not one which I'd keep in water.

~ Traft

Tik Mar 10, 2004 05:45 PM

Include DW. It's like, THE golden oldie.

blurredd Mar 10, 2004 06:55 PM

Maybe a DW modification at best, like Mini DW or enozraW sudnomiaD (mirrored DW), just to confuse everyone.

Tik Mar 10, 2004 08:02 PM

Maybe I could whip up something crazy for DW.. hmph

Talec Mar 13, 2004 10:58 AM

By the way... shouldn't this be on the calendar? :)

I'd put it in myself, but I don't know the dates...

Monolith Mar 13, 2004 11:47 AM

JJ2's Birthday is April 9th. This year the 9th falls on a Friday, so that looks like good timing for the weekend.

Iam Canadian Mar 13, 2004 12:21 PM

I'm not sure if this has been done or not, but if it hasn't, how about an upside down DW?

blurredd Mar 13, 2004 01:29 PM

Not from what I can tell. I was planning on making it, but I didn't feel like doing all of the work. If you're going to make it, don't bother using the textured background with the upside-down Diamondus set.

Iam Canadian Mar 13, 2004 02:32 PM

I wasn't aware there was an upside down Diamondous set.
How about DW converted to the JJ1 Diamondous set? Just throwing ideas around...

R3ptile Mar 14, 2004 06:09 AM

By the way, someone must fix the start positions in DW, they are just annoying.

Newspaz Mar 14, 2004 06:40 AM

I'd like to point out that using custom tilesets for the bash Ã(-)sn't a good idea because the players who don't have them already will have to download them from the servers. Causing download lag or possibly a server crash.

FQuist Mar 14, 2004 12:59 PM

I tried making an up-side down Diam set once but it was pretty mighty hard.

So, any people with real fast connections that want to host?

FireSworD Mar 26, 2004 07:21 PM

I volunteer to host.

I just got cable (3 mbit), probably the first one in my area to,
so it should be pretty fast.
