JJ2 Bug Trivia

After a random incident when playing on JJ2 today BlurredD and I (mostly BlurredD) figured out a way for people to capture their own team's flag. Just for kicks I was wondering if people were able to come up with how this is done. :)

If no one can come up with a solutionin a few days, I'll post the answer - but it's really not that hard. Oh, and BlurredD, no giving it away please.

blurredd Feb 20, 2005 10:52 PM

Hax?

I wonder if this counts as giving it away.

Violet CLM Feb 20, 2005 11:54 PM

Blur looks funny with red shoes. I'll grab someone for experimentation later.

Edit: Oh, wait! It's an edited version of Tubelectric, with switched red and blue colors, and your fur colors are actually set to red, and those flags in the upper left are fake, and you have colored names! Except no.

White Rabbit Feb 21, 2005 01:19 AM

Aren't those red socks? :p

Bobby aka Dizzy Feb 21, 2005 06:57 AM

Please note that no cheating or hacking was required to get to the situation I descibed above and seen in BlurredD's picture.

cooba Feb 21, 2005 07:13 AM

Hmm... neat.

There's always that rare JJ2 bug, which gives you the flag of opposite team instantly when you join the server. So when you have a lag copy of yourself, it gives you red flag when you're red and vice versa?

Pyromanus Feb 21, 2005 07:56 PM

Where to start?

I know how =)

blurredd Feb 21, 2005 09:25 PM

Maybe it isn't the best idea to reveal how to do it.

Radium Feb 22, 2005 08:22 AM

I got it =D

White Rabbit Feb 22, 2005 08:27 AM

Gasp! But how! ;) :p

Tubz Feb 22, 2005 09:27 AM

I give up, bleh forget CTF and It's many bugs.

blurredd Feb 22, 2005 09:57 AM

Heh, nice try Radium.

Hybrid Feb 22, 2005 02:56 PM

that was annoying
it messed up the whole game

personally i like battle mode better

blurredd Feb 22, 2005 06:35 PM

Annoying fun that is. And I personally prefer Jailbreak over all other gametypes.

White Rabbit Feb 26, 2005 09:23 AM

Would it be possible to start a battle game using a CTF lvl, make someone with a red name and red clothes join and make your own name blue with blue clothes (i.e. blue head-band, backpack, socks, guns, etc.). Then, use Controller to change the game mode to CTF and voila! You can, sort of, capture your own team's flag. ;P Well, ok, you're still capturing your opponent's flag, but it looks as if you've done the opposite.

blurredd Feb 26, 2005 09:57 AM

Yes, that would be possible.

Bobby aka Dizzy Feb 26, 2005 12:16 PM

However it's still possible without memory editing through programs like Controller.

White Rabbit Feb 26, 2005 12:21 PM

Is there a deadline for the answer?

cooba Mar 5, 2005 08:40 AM

Give it out already >O.

Violet CLM Mar 5, 2005 03:29 PM

I watched Pyro doing it so I am exempt. Kind of fun, though, and strangely logical.

blurredd Mar 8, 2005 06:40 PM

Fun with MORE bugs!

Fast fire seekers.

Here's something that should be easier to figure out. Maybe too easy...

PS: I wonder if anyone is annoyed by all these huge images.

Hybrid Mar 8, 2005 06:53 PM

not be baby!
i got broadband! whooha!!!

that last question is easy, just get a gamepad with rapidfire.

blurredd Mar 8, 2005 06:59 PM

Okay, it's not that easy. Anyone can do it and without using a gamepad.

Blackraptor Mar 8, 2005 07:25 PM

A random guess for the first one, if its w/o using progs, then I'm guessing splitscreening or something?

Violet CLM Mar 8, 2005 09:56 PM

I get an effect like that when the game is really lagged. Show us your FPS.

Pyromanus Mar 9, 2005 07:01 AM

Toaster + tnt + frozensrpings = lotsofun

I know how =D

White Rabbit Mar 9, 2005 08:54 AM

Hm...I can easily do that with Gamehack...but I'm assuming you mean within JJ2 itself.

EDIT: I know Pyro is trying to help us with his hints, but I don't understand them? :(

It is a bug because you can do it without hacking and/or lag so =D.

Monolith Mar 9, 2005 08:38 PM

I'm not actually answering BlurredD's post, but his screenshots reminded me of back in the day when I had to clear out ammo from Battle3 in the Battle Server.

Ah, memories.

blurredd Mar 9, 2005 09:00 PM

I need to find more bugs and to screenshot them.

Ragnarok! Mar 10, 2005 11:40 AM

=OO

Tubz Mar 10, 2005 01:41 PM

Ergh, It's not a bug. Seekers are meant to be the most rapid fire button mashing weapon.

blurredd Mar 10, 2005 03:27 PM

Just to clear things up, I (and presumably Pyro) only had to press the fire button once for it to work. And it's a bug because I'm fairly sure that frozen springs were never meant to be used to make weapons fire rapidly. Sooner or later I'm going to incorporate that bug into one of my levels.

Tubz Mar 11, 2005 11:22 AM

Hmm. After much careful observation of everyone's shots. I have to say that yours and Monolith's look easy to do. Pyro's looks like a bug. I didn't exactly see what frozen springs had to do with any of your screenshots. And what do you mean pressing fire once? I don't believe that.

Maybe because this is a bug?

Did anyone "exactly see" what did unmasked level borders to do with flagbug? JJ2's bugs are incredibly twisted.

That he pressed "fire" button once and loads of seekers were shot out.

Tubz Mar 11, 2005 11:27 AM

Yeah pr3tty much right on anything. I don't know anything about masks and tilesets...

White Rabbit Mar 11, 2005 03:50 PM

Solved seeker bug, solved flag bug.

Btw, the seeker bug works with ANY ammo, not just seekers. Frozen springs are essential. Big hint: they have to be pre-frozen. ;P
