FireSworD Jan 21, 2006 09:02 PM

I like this stuff. Good entertainment

Good luck with your team.

Sonyk Jan 21, 2006 09:08 PM

It's XD, not RAD.

And what about those of us incapable of using UF's JJ2 patches? That's not very nice.

NovaStar Jan 21, 2006 09:08 PM

Like? You just have to get SNESTool to install them.
And XD's dead. It's RAD, AJazz doesn't go by AJazz XD. It's AJazz RAD.

You should of been at the takeover last night.

UNKNOWNFILE Jan 21, 2006 09:27 PM

I've put together a mircscript which I call "NetMon" which currently connects to a specified server and logs TCP data for 30 seconds then quits. Here's the code. Packets not included.
Code:

/*
NetMon source code
(C)2006 Peter S. Conway
*/
alias spy {
  if ($1 == $null) { /echo -t Specify the server you idiot. | halt }
  /echo -t Opening spy to $1 $+ ...
  /set %ip $1
  /sockopen spy $1 10052
  /write Log_ $+ %ip $+ .txt Log initiated at $date $time EDT by UNKNOWNFILE
}

on 1:SOCKOPEN:spy: {
  bread joinpack.bin 0 9 &info
  sockwrite spy &info
  bread netmon_sendname.bin 0 16 &info
  sockwrite spy &info
  bread somepack.bin 0 16 &info
  sockwrite spy &info
  bread sayhi.bin 0 93 &info
}

on 1:SOCKREAD:spy: {
  sockread &summat
  /bwrite Log_ $+ %ip $+ .txt -1 -1 &summat
 /echo -t Data recieved from server.
}

on 1:SOCKCLOSE:spy: {
  /echo -t Connection dropped from server. Be sure to save the logs!
}

So, any suggestions?

Sonyk Jan 21, 2006 09:58 PM

@Shadowthing: Like those of us not using an x86 archetecture. Duh.
And considering that I saw ThaSpaz and Adeel/Orbitz going around today with XD on their names, I could only guess that XD was the name they went by. AJazz is... weird, anyway, so I don't think he's the best example.

NovaStar Jan 21, 2006 10:05 PM

TCP data? Like the packets that come through?

UNKNOWNFILE Jan 21, 2006 10:07 PM

I am really having trouble with the NetMon. It needs to warn the server not to kick the slot its in, as it spawns a "ghost" to player 32 as of this writing. Hopefully I can fix that soon.

Monolith Jan 21, 2006 10:14 PM

Umm, this list servers aren't in any danger. It's just individual game servers that you're looking out for. Two different things.

NovaStar Jan 21, 2006 10:25 PM

I dunno, RAD was crashing everything and making only one server: RAD Takeover.

Grytolle Jan 22, 2006 06:33 AM

lol @ this
Nice script, UF. Try using a normal joining packet ;o Then it shouldn't get into slot 32. Or better yet, take the packet used in jforce, so you don't have to see the player joined message.

FQuist Jan 22, 2006 06:51 AM

Oh no it's the PE! Run!

'Takeover'? JJ2 is not a country. You cannot invade it. And if you can, putting 'PE' after your name isn't going to help anything. It just makes troublemakers feel special, which is exactly what you do not want. You're just helping them.

Just help assemble information on how to protect JJ2. Fuss doesn't help.

CrimiClown Jan 22, 2006 07:54 AM

Is this a joke? =3

Correction, one of them is mine, and one of them is Monoliths.

Secondly, if this isnt a joke I find it quite concerning.

There are other interpretations of 'our' than meaning 'our direct property'. It's "our" listservers in that the listservers run (should run) for the community's sake, their admins answer to the community, and they are used by the community's grace. Shadowrabbit wasn't claiming he held the property rights to your computers.

Black Ninja Jan 22, 2006 08:25 PM

I'd happily sign up.

niek Jan 23, 2006 12:21 AM

This is a nice idea! But I've got no time for joining it, sorry. But good luck with cleaning up the listservers!

Stijn Jan 23, 2006 12:28 AM

Can I join???

Grytolle Jan 23, 2006 02:05 AM

So what methods will you use to eliminate the pests?

White Rabbit Jan 23, 2006 04:46 AM

Can I become a vigilante vigilante and work outside PE's influence? ;o

FQuist Jan 23, 2006 05:09 AM

You could become a Mercenary.

NovaStar Jan 26, 2006 06:51 PM

Black Ninja, you're in! Same to you Stijin!
@Nimrod: Everyone usesthem, so everyone should contribute.
@Monolith: Basically same as Nimrod, I guess ;p
@FQuist: Stop confusing me please. And it won't make troublemakers feel special. And this is not a joke. THIS IS REAL!

Stijn Jan 27, 2006 01:03 AM

Are you dyslectic? My name clearly reads "Stijn", not "Stijin".

Erik Jan 27, 2006 08:37 AM

Stijn will get secret information for ZL.

Sonyk Jan 27, 2006 09:19 AM

I'm just curious, but how exactly do you plan on doing anything? You're not telling us anything except "WE MUST STOP THEM!!11!!!," and expecting them to vanish. You've got nothing to protect your own servers, or to provent people from doing anything.

It's like walking into the middle of a gunfight and expecting to come out unscathed.

n00b Jan 27, 2006 12:49 PM

What if I don't want to use UF's patches because before this topic I never needed them?

UNKNOWNFILE Jan 27, 2006 12:55 PM

I doubted anyone needed them because nobody here besides me plays the stupid game online.

The lucky people who randomly message me do have a semi-final version of it, featuring more fixes and expanded memory to support large levels and music.

n00b Jan 27, 2006 01:01 PM

I never needed them because Nimrod already posted something that more or less protects me from lasers. Other fixes weren't really all too important (Why would you freeze a gemring in the first place?).

There's no point to use UF's patch... you could just use Nimrod's filter (which has protections against ASD and stuff as well) or Project Cataclysm...

FQuist Jan 28, 2006 01:30 AM

Is the only method of your group telling everyone about UF's 1.25 patches? Are there any other measures you intend to use?

NovaStar Jan 28, 2006 03:09 PM

Project Controller 4 to mute flooders... reporting serious offences... need I say more?

Sonyk Jan 28, 2006 03:11 PM

Reporting serious offences does next to nothing. Most people who are attacked don't run ApprehendJJ2, and even if they do, the IP of the attacker is usually dynamic.

And reporting their name is useless, since anybody can change their name at any given moment.

Monolith Jan 28, 2006 07:53 PM

The IP of the attacker is more useful than anything.

Odin Jan 28, 2006 08:02 PM

This is a nice idea, but I fail to see how it merits a clan name. I mean, it's nice to have people spread the word about offenses, and stuff, but having a whole clan based off of it is a bit wasteful. I'd join if I wasn't on a clamn diet.

Especially in reports, which is why we encourage use of ApprehendJJ2. For hosts, you can just press F9 twice and get the I.P's of the current players on the left side of their names.
