Mute is still broken.

Superjazz Apr 5, 2008 11:59 AM

This happened strangely early...but you're awesome, blur.

Do not hesitate on downloading this.

Birdie Apr 5, 2008 12:02 PM

I find this version inconvenient compared to some earlier ones since with this one I have to start two separate programs. :l

You have to run Plusifier only once. :|

Ragnarok! Apr 5, 2008 12:19 PM

Ooh also... Even if /mute doesn't work.. /unmute works perfectly. :]

Jimbob Apr 5, 2008 12:35 PM

Whenever I use jazz2+ it won't work for me. I also tried using the plusifier with the program, and it didn't work.

Slaz Apr 5, 2008 02:31 PM

GREAT! I have tested the program and it seems to work flawless for now. Things I like are:

*I'm hosting many clan related matches, now I can run both JJ2 and Carrotade in 1 click. :)
*I haven't really bothered using 1.23+ until now.

And is there something added that causes the connection to work properly? I've noticed that I can both host and join via Jazz2+.exe without running anything with jj2udp.exe, as I always had to use that program otherwise no online play worked at all..

Some general advice: It helps to be a lot more specific when pointing out problems, such as by indicating error messages and what you see on your screen.

Jimbob, I would guess either you don't have plus.dll in the same folder as JJ2's exe, or you have a version of JJ2 that can't use the dll. Such versions include the LK Avalon version of TSF, and anything else that isn't specifically 1.23 or 1.24. If you are able to use Carrotade, you should be able to use JJ2+.

Slaz, I haven't specifically done anything to make connections work properly.

Raven aka StL Apr 5, 2008 03:14 PM

Meh, early release. :)

Monolith Apr 5, 2008 05:52 PM

What is it?

Jimbob Apr 5, 2008 06:25 PM

Oh, pff... Blur, am I ever stupid. Thank you. lol
@Monolith: It is a special version of Jazz2 (just like 1.23+, but more stable) that has some carrotade and 1.23+ commands implemented.

EvilMike Apr 5, 2008 07:11 PM

Thanks for finally releasing this! This was such a great utility during the last JDC season, and it's great that other people finally have the chance to take advantage of it.

Yeah, there are probably still a few bugs, but overall it seems to be fine.

You know how for years everyone wanted 1.25? This is it, but better.

Speeza Apr 5, 2008 07:47 PM

BTW whats 1.25i then.

FireSworD Apr 5, 2008 08:02 PM

ah, an april fools prank about the source code and all the anticipation of 1.25 and here we have JJ2+ and there's not much celebration.

FQuist Apr 5, 2008 08:04 PM

Give me a chance to run it or be in a server with it and see how awesome it is and I'll celebrate. I know it's awesome, but the celebrationary mood will start when I've seen it ;-)

I find your question hard to take seriously :p.

When I run it, the text says "with much help from Monolith".

blurredd Apr 5, 2008 09:01 PM

It's really to say Monolith helped me a lot with programming in C++ for the first time, and he helped me troubleshoot problems with Carrotade, even with all of my constant and probably annoying questions. And of course there's the additional NeoAC code that's still being used.

cooba Apr 6, 2008 01:22 AM

Spectators cannot use teamchat. Was this intentional?

blurredd Apr 6, 2008 01:31 AM

Very much so.

Vegito Apr 6, 2008 02:30 AM

1.23+ has always worked properly for me. So once again I doubt I'll be finding any errors

master sven Apr 6, 2008 03:35 AM

Too bad I'm not as lucky as Slaz with the connecitons fix....:(
(still can't host)

Otherwise spectators could possibly give information to one team, which would obviously be unfair :(

1.23+ doesn't work when the host runs Carrotade. The 1.23+ user would automatically crash when carrotade sends out anything (or when the host uses Carrotade commands etc.). Jj2+ is just like Carrotade, except better, because with the plusifier, you don't even need to run plus.exe in order to be able to use plus commands.

N.B.: Vegito meant JJ2+ in his post

Probably due to the bad timing of the release. After getting burned by this year's prank, everyone's like "April Fool's joke, haha, won't get fooled again, brb new boss same as old boss".

Am I the only one who came to J2O on April 1st to see what the April Fools joke was this year?

SPAZ18 Apr 6, 2008 01:20 PM

I downloaded JJ2+ today, and I LOVE IT!! It works great for me.
I had one problem when using the /restartmusic command on a .j2b file.
I tried to restart the music (Mysterious.j2b was the file) as it just stopped, but when I did that, it came up with Amnesia Error.

Not if you include me.

Anyways, what does Jazz2+ do?

You might want to try reading the manual that comes packaged with the program. Novel concept, I know.

Monolith Apr 6, 2008 05:04 PM

I was actually hoping for a better answer to this. The reason I asked was because unless you already know what it is, you wouldn't be able to figure it out from the first post. And reading down this thread, it's still not clear what it is if you don't know what 1.23+ is. But from what it sounds like, is that JJ2+ is a program that runs parallel to JJ2 that patches bugs and extends the functionality of JJ2. What exactly it fixes or adds on, I still don't really know (other than guesses).

Jimbob Apr 6, 2008 05:25 PM

It basically is a 'hybrid' of 1.23+ (obviously, most of the community knows about the Xmas release) and Carrotade. Basically it is a program that is (mostly) a server tool, with some 1.23+ commands like /changemusic <musicfile> and some Carrotade commands like /c (changes the level) or /k (a new one, which kills you or any other player of your choice.) Not only that, but it also (just like Carrotade) allows admin access (where players can login by typing /login <password>.) Also, there is a second exe file (the "plusifier") that comes with the utility. The plusifier basically makes a second jazz2.exe (with a '+' in it's name) where this 'new' file automatically loads 'plus.dll' at the startup. (plus.dll has to be in your jazz2 folder, obviously.) But if you're REALLY curious about what JJ2+ does, check out the readme that comes with the utility.
PS: The level list.ini is only there for if you have admins logged in on your server. You won't need it if you change the level yourself, however.

The manual does not contain a general description of the utility. It certainly does list commands, etc, but for example which JJ2 1.23+ bugfixes are in there, or what the general features are... nah. It can be gleaned from reading the entire manual, but there's no general description to entice new users. Which may explain the low response. If only because not everyone knows what the xmas release or 1.23+ are.

KRSplat Apr 6, 2008 07:28 PM

Also, a lot of people want to know what they are downloading before they download it.
