A kind of interesting idea concerning JJ2/JJ3 and the anniversary...

Coming straight to the point:

As a big event for Jazz's 10th, we could make a JJ3.. for JJ2.
What I mean to say is that we could take the story and the music directly from JJ3 to make a great single-player level pack, kind of like a replacement for JJ3...

It sounds far-fetched, but it's definitely possible, I think. And it would definitely be a worthy thing for such a great year.

What we'd have to do is the following:

1. We need someone to direct it all, which is definitely not me, as I suck at such things.
2. We'd have to find out whether the JJ3 mods actually work in JJ2 levels.. I don't have JJ2 on this computer, so I can't right now, unfortunately.
3. About the tilesets, I'm not totally sure, but would it maybe be possible to rip tiles from the JJ3 demo and modify them to fit into a tileset? If that doesn't work, we could still make our own...
4. Since JJ3 was never finished, there are still a lot of parts missing. Maybe even parts of story. We need people to do everything concerning those missing parts, story, music, tilesets.
5. Most importantly, we need to determine a team of the best level-makers we have.

I know, you don't see me suggesting something like this every day, it was just a quick idea, but think about it: It CAN work. We have more than enough talented minds around here to make this project a huge success.

So. What do you think?

cooba Aug 9, 2004 03:20 AM

What about JJ2 in JJ1?

Stijn Aug 9, 2004 03:26 AM

Count me in 8D

I might come up with some ideas later, but for now I'll just say that's it's probably impossible to rip stuff from the demo (I mean, it's 3D and has lots of colors) but we can maybe edit the JJ2 sets to make them usable for a JJ3 remake.

Interesting idea. If this project gets off the ground, I'd like to help. I'm sure I could do...something.

Muffin is intrigued...

Count me in too, or something. 8D

Neat.. come on, people, we need more feedback, more feedback! Spread the word wherever you can, please!

And Cooba, I don't think that idea would work out.

I could make a WC3 map.

That probably wouldn't work. Have you seen those Rayman and Harry Potter tilesets? It would just look like those - ugly resized stuff.

FireSworD Aug 9, 2004 09:25 PM

Interesting idea. Count me in.

I don't think I need to further explain myself. If you need me, just tell me what to do and I would most likely do it - To whoever is directing this project.

I'd be glad to help with what I can. And for the record JJ3 music DOES work in JJ2 so yay.

Fawriel Aug 9, 2004 11:08 PM

Hmh, I thought so about the tilesets.. hm.

So.. does anyone have any suggestions who could direct this?
I myself would probably be absolutely horrible at that. =P

We could do a JJ1 levelpack, it'd be a first as far as I know.

Stijn Aug 10, 2004 04:42 AM

But... JJ1 doesn't have most JJ2 tilesets.

What about we all look what our best level pack ratings were, so we can figure out which are the best levelmakers of us.

To start, I got a 7.7 on my Beachtown Pack which isn't really great I guess.

Fawriel Aug 10, 2004 12:47 PM

I suppose a poll would work better.. or something... what is more important right NOW is that we need a director for everything.. well, or at least someone else beside myself, I guess.

UR only said the tileset idea wouldn't work. Not the WHOLE idea...

Stijn Aug 11, 2004 04:46 AM

I could do some supervising.... Not all, though, maybe different people for different timezones would be more useful indeed. And Fawriel should also do something >8(

Fawriel Aug 11, 2004 04:53 AM

Of course I'd do something. But I know myself, and I know that I can't possibly do all this planning and taking responsibility etc. Not alone anyways.
I'd definitely do what I can for the rest of the things that would have to be done..
