The Qu-Mek JJ2 2on2 cup I

Hello everyone,
I'm proud to present you the Qu-Mek JJ2 2on2 cup number one.
It is a 2on2 tournament where teams meet eachother on the battlefield. It is supposed to be a cool and funny tournament, if it is a succes, we'll make prices to win ;) For now it is just a cool 2on2 tournament.

How does it works?
It works kinda simple. You can sing up your 2vs2 team by posting here. If all the slots are full, I make the FAIR matches. You got the time to finish the duel till every 2on2 finished, but, please, play it ASAP. In every round there is a different level you have to play, only non-overhosted levels are played. If much teams join, The tourny will start with a group-format. If 8 or less teams join, It will be just knock-out!

The mappool
1st round :
  • Sanctuary CTF by CelL
2th round :
  • Jungle's Edge
3th round L
  • Medieval Skycrapers by FireSword
More coming soon! Beware for changings!

Current teams singed up:
Anakin & Chiyu
Urbs & CrashMash
Sasik & Sylver
Snooz & SuperJazz/Vivando
Ragnarok & DarkSonic
Reptile & SkulL
Messiah & IronLight
Maverick & Grytolle

Current people without a m8 yet singed up:
Vegito
SkulL
Maverick
Grytolle

If you want to be in too, post a reply here or add me to msn: raver007@gmail.com. There is no deadline YET... Beware!

A few questions and remarks:

How many teams can sign up?

Will you be using a knockout or a group format?

What is your definition of those "fair" matches you mentioned? Random matchups or something?

You may want to arrange dates for the matches the same way reptile did in his clan tournament: set a date and time yourself, and if any of the players know on beforehand that they can't make it, they can ask to set up a new date and time until everyone's happy. I'm afraid that if you let people arrange this all by themselves, they'll never get around to completing their games. When doing this however, keep the differences in timezones between some players in mind.

CrashMash Jan 29, 2005 11:10 AM

Uhm, how many teams can sing up? pff i think arround 8, and if there are still ppl want to join then, probably 12 or 14
If many teams sing up, then we start with a group format, if there are 8 teams, then knock-out.
WIth FAIR maches i just mean fair matches, I'll make some paperthings with on each a teamname. I'll put them in a basket and then I'll take one out, then another one. That 2 will have to fight against each then... Ofcourse, if possible, I'll make the dates, but if there are very much ppl who sing-up, I'll give them very much time to finish

Sasik Jan 29, 2005 11:24 AM

whats qu-mek

Sasik Jan 30, 2005 12:04 PM

Btw. Why did you change lvls ? JE is much better for 2v2/3v3 than AYB ;l
And also it isn't so buggy ( not-respawning pu sux -.- )...

Grytolle Jan 30, 2005 09:35 PM

Yes AYB should be removed... I am not a fan on Sanctuary either, but I guess it can do...

CrashMash Jan 31, 2005 06:14 AM

Srry guys, srry that i deleted JE, if u all want, i'll change it back.
Qu-Mek is a former CS clan wich did many tourny's.

CrashMash Jan 31, 2005 09:43 AM

only one place left! ONLY ONE PLACE LEFT!

Ragnarok! Jan 31, 2005 01:52 PM

CrashMash Feb 1, 2005 10:21 AM

Ragnarok! Feb 1, 2005 01:59 PM

>P Heh

CrashMash Feb 2, 2005 06:42 AM

yes or no ? :p

Yasco Feb 2, 2005 09:21 AM

bleh , Sq and I wanted to sign in , looks like it's too late...

CrashMash Feb 2, 2005 09:52 AM

you'll be the first replacer if some team doesn't show up. Next itme you'll be in =) btw, i asked Sq may times...

Ragnarok! Feb 2, 2005 01:27 PM

Can it be double elimination? :O

blurredd Feb 2, 2005 05:26 PM

Because Single Elimination isn't hard enough to organize. I would only recommend a Double Elimination tourney if it's 1on1.

R3ptile Feb 3, 2005 03:58 AM

Double Elimination would be a good idea with 32 players.

CrashMash Feb 3, 2005 07:06 AM

Srry but what do you mean with that?

Sasik Feb 3, 2005 11:58 AM

What do you think about changing the lvl in 1st round ? :p
I think that for example SBv2 would be better than Sanctuary, since many ppl don't know/don't like Sanctuary 8D

maverick Feb 3, 2005 12:03 PM

Yeah...It is good idea..Plz CrashMash change map to SB.It is very good for 2v2 games, especially 2v2 =P.

Ragnarok! Feb 3, 2005 12:10 PM

Whatever... Make up your mind by tommorrow, Are we playing those levels, or some other ones? ;l

Grytolle Feb 3, 2005 12:22 PM

Yeah, screw Sanctuary!
I want Security Breach version 2!!!!

R3ptile Feb 3, 2005 12:24 PM

That's my suggestion:

1st round - Security Breach v2
2nd round - Zaitox Station 67
3rd round - Medieval Skyscrapers, BloodBunny's Lair

But whatever.

Ragnarok! Feb 3, 2005 12:44 PM

Hmm i kinda agree with r3p, but can we just stick with what we got to save confusion? Even though i dont like those levels.

Gr33n Pl4nt Feb 3, 2005 02:16 PM

;l NO don't SB, zaitox, semi, bblair - these levels are getting so repetitive

So what? Every game has it's own competitive maps.

Enigma Feb 4, 2005 02:43 AM

I strongly recommend not changing the levels. Changing stuff in mid-tournament rarely does any good. In this case, the following would probably happen:

Team A defeats Team B in level X in the first round.
After that, level X is being changed to level Y.

Team B: "OMG REMATCH WE DID WRONG LEVEL U CHEATER HAX"
Team A: "NO WE BEAT U ALREADY NO REMATCH NOOBS"

And that isn't good for anyone. So keeping your currently selected levels is probably the best thing to do.

Grytolle Feb 4, 2005 05:08 AM

Enigma...
Afaik, the tournament haven't started yet..
...so what's the fault in choosing levels?

Perhaps people didn't read the first post properly. Time for a level-lesson, guys. I don't think Sanctuary is that bad, only bad thing in that level is that I always have lower fps there somehow. But the layout is ok, placement is ok, nothing to complain about that level, imo.
