Let's make a tile!

Every 3 days, you may submit ONE PIXEL! This will go on indefinitly until we get our 1,024 tiny dots of colour. Then we can all compile it into one super tile. We can look at this thing and say "We did this as a community!"

Let's get tiling!

Sorry Vio, I just couldn't resist satiring your competition =(

Edit:
Radium is better than I am:

Excellent job so far!

Fawriel Jul 27, 2005 09:02 AM

How about we all make me a nice hat?

Strato Jul 27, 2005 09:04 AM

Straw or Silk?

n0 Jul 27, 2005 09:51 AM

My pixal's colour is F09000, and it goes in position 17, 4

Strato Jul 27, 2005 09:52 AM

Added.

White Rabbit Jul 27, 2005 10:02 AM

If we can continue with this project indefinitely, and safeguard it from nuclear holocausts, the greenhouse effect, alien attack and human exctinction, then the JJ2 community will have a lifetime of over 1021 years. Keep up the good work, guys!

Strato Jul 27, 2005 10:09 AM

Not really. If 500 people participate every week than this project will have the life of less than 3 weeks, meaning the JJ2 community will die off in less than a month if this project fails! Let's not let that happen guys!

Radium Jul 27, 2005 10:17 AM

Best thread ever.

EDIT: I'll keep track of and compile submissions:

White Rabbit Jul 27, 2005 10:24 AM

Oh, sry Strato. I thought you meant that only one pixel was allowed per week. In fact, to prevent the immediate death of the community and for the sake of jazzers all over the globe, the rules of this competition must be amended NOW!

Lark Jul 27, 2005 01:07 PM

#842134, position 12, 24.

Strato Jul 27, 2005 01:11 PM

Your contribution is greatly appreciated.

Fawriel Jul 27, 2005 01:25 PM

F09000, and it goes in position 17, 5

kthx

Radium Jul 27, 2005 01:47 PM

Updated. Stratten, put the image in the first post.

Fawriel Jul 27, 2005 02:02 PM

But my browser has the old version cached... it'd be better to link to it, I guess.

FoxBlitzz Jul 27, 2005 02:05 PM

RGB(180,93,0) in 17,6.

Ae Jul 27, 2005 02:43 PM

I will submit a pixel of RGB(0,93,180) in 17,7.

Radium Jul 27, 2005 02:45 PM

Aku you RGB rebel you ;D

Updated.

EDIT: argh, Ae posted. I'll add his pixel later.

EDIT: updated. And mine's better than Stratten's because his is a BMP and not transparent.

Strato Jul 27, 2005 03:37 PM

Great job guys.

Blackraptor Jul 27, 2005 05:02 PM

R 0 G 0 B 45 at 31x30 yay.

Violet CLM Jul 27, 2005 06:19 PM

You should have a rule that you can't edit your own pixels but other people can.

Lark Jul 27, 2005 06:42 PM

As we approach a higher number of pixels it might get a little more complicated. People might name the same pixel twice. I dunno. I guess we have a while to worry about that. The chances of that happening now are about 1/256.

People are being pretty careful. Lookitthat, they're drawing a line. Sort of.

EDIT: Updated the tile and added my pixel for this week (#008000 at 29,30). Out of curiosity, is the top left pixel 0,0 or 1,1?

Strato Jul 27, 2005 06:49 PM

0,0

I'm afraid that we're going to have a tile that won't fit in a 256 colour palette =P.

Good point. But let's get this done anyway, I can't wait to see it. And I suggest we change it so people can submit one pixel every.. maybe two days? It will take forever like it is now.

Ae Jul 27, 2005 08:26 PM

When its done, lets put it into Violet's tileset.

Hah... yes. Also, every two days sounds great.

Strato Jul 27, 2005 09:23 PM

3 days, and it's settled.

Edit : I'm guessing this tile is going to be a random jumble of colours. Thoughts anyone?

Radium Jul 27, 2005 09:41 PM

Hopefully people will place their pixels in a place where it forms SOMETHING. We shouldn't plan ahead, though. That would be like communism.

Let's try to reuse some colors. Our limit is 256, but we should aim for fewer than that so it can go in tilesets with different palettes.

FoxBlitzz Jul 27, 2005 09:44 PM

Um, Radium, that pixel of mine you placed in looks a little off color... I said RGB(180,93,0), which is a slightly darker orange, but you put in a sort of greenish color. O.o

Edit: It looks like you made a typo: You put in RGB(80,93,0) instead of RGB(180,93,0). Better fix that. :P

CrimiClown Jul 28, 2005 04:16 AM

RGB (255,255,0) at 1,1 please. 8D

Edit: We'll make a tileset and put this tile in it! AND WE'LL NAME IT: Tile of the Year 2005!

:O

Radium Jul 28, 2005 06:29 AM

Oops. Good catch, Aku.

Updated.

Strato Jul 29, 2005 08:36 AM

21,145,255 on position 17,8

It's now day 3, that means you all can start submitting pixels again =D

Fawriel Jul 29, 2005 08:42 AM

F09000 in position 18, 5

...at least I'm kind of shaping something.

Strato Jul 29, 2005 08:48 AM

I'm hoping to turn it into a robot.

cooba Jul 29, 2005 09:39 AM

F08F00 in position 18, 6, plxthz.

FoxBlitzz Jul 29, 2005 10:33 AM

I've actually been trying to turn it into a floor tile. Look at the vertical thing in the top-center. That kind of looks like a floor, doesn't it?

Fawriel Jul 29, 2005 10:39 AM

It looks a lot like a couple of lines.

Strato Jul 29, 2005 10:42 AM

This won't end well.

n0 Jul 29, 2005 01:24 PM

000000 @ 9,9

FQuist Aug 3, 2005 07:29 AM

FFFFFF @ 30,30
