A Jazz Jackrabbit Podcast

I was brpwsing through the Itunes music store when an idea for a Jazz Jackrabbit podcast popped into my head. It'd have remixed music, afverts for new packs, interveiws with community memebers, interveiws with the game developers(well, maybe. Just maybe)
And slightly after that I made this topic about it.

If there was a Jazz Jackrabbit Podcast what would you want it to have?

Violet CLM Jan 2, 2006 11:36 AM

I think the intro should have CliffyB saying Jazz is a super-uber pimp character.

Odin Jan 2, 2006 11:38 AM

I could do a weekly Jazz radio program. I'd be honored if it were hosted.

Black Ninja Jan 2, 2006 11:40 AM

I'd do a commercial for Foo Products. I already made one because I read this.

"Why are you wasting your time at those other crappy joke sites?" (in the background you hear Strong Bad say "holy crap!")

"GO TO FOO PRODUCTS, THE DUMBEST SITE ON EARTH!!!"

Odin Jan 2, 2006 11:42 AM

Foo Products, while being immensely stupid, is nothing compared to, say, the World's Smallest Website, or Purple.

FQuist Jan 2, 2006 03:00 PM

Sounds like a cool idea. If it's good enough I imagine J2O would link it.

Sonyk Jan 3, 2006 06:42 AM

Why wouldn't J2O link to it in the first place? If it's commnunity related, we need the activity.

On another note, I'd like to help with a podcast, should it come into existance. I can talk, if that accounts for anything. Garageband came with my Mac, so I can help record it, and stuff.

But when it does come into existance, it should have stuff like level reviews, recent news, talking about features for JJ2, and maybe a few bits of music remixed from the game.

n00b Jan 3, 2006 07:30 AM

Isn't Garageband able to make Podcasts?

CrimiClown Jan 3, 2006 07:31 AM

It would be cool to have a j2o/jj2 radio program. Odin, let's go. \o/ :p

Yes it is, that was the point of my bringing it up.

Ok then! \o/

CrimiClown Jan 3, 2006 08:49 AM

Okay, Odin and I are working everything out on MSN now, so we won't spam up this thead ( as if we normally wouldn't ¬_¬ ).

We'll post if we have something to post about, I guess... :p

UNKNOWNFILE Jan 3, 2006 09:00 AM

I have a cable connection that is relatively fast a lot of the time. It's slow at resolving DNSes though, so maybe if you want your little show hosted off of my computer on Friday nights or whenever, then that's OK with me. Just give me the content and I'll host it.

CrimiClown Jan 3, 2006 09:54 AM

Odin and I have decided a few things that wouldn't be spoilers:

- Odin and I will both host the show. One of us will be the 'host', the other one will go as 'co-host'.
- The name for the program would be 'Carrotus Wireless'. Doesn't it have a certain ring to it? =D
- It'll be a weekly program. Don't complain if we might skip a week if we don't have idea's/time/comments (which provide motivation).
- The rest will be a secret for now.

Don't expect a first show to be launched soon. I think it's worth a try, though.

Fawriel Jan 3, 2006 10:41 AM

I'll help by being the only one of the few people not involved in the production that listen to it ( audience)! \o/

Iam Canadian Jan 3, 2006 11:37 AM

And I'll be Faw's partner in crime!

CrimiClown Jan 3, 2006 11:38 AM

\o/ I need to make a jingle for it! =D

Sonyk Jan 3, 2006 12:23 PM

I thought n00b was in charge of this, not Odin and Crimiclown.

Oh well, still willing to help.

CrimiClown Jan 3, 2006 12:27 PM

Well, it's not like Odin and I are making the thing which will actually be up for grabs. It's like a preview. You just have to say wether you like it or not. =D If you don't like any of our idea's, just kill Odin and me right away say it.

n00b Jan 3, 2006 12:44 PM

Hey everyone, I just put my ideas up for grabs so people can take them and make previews while I get absolutely no say in the preview's production at all.
[/scarcasm]

CrimiClown Jan 3, 2006 12:59 PM

To be honest, I didn't even read through the entire thead untill now. I just heard that Odin mentioned something about a radio program and was psyched enough to start on it right away. Sorry. I will behave now.

Hey, I was offering to host Carrotus Wireless on YOUR podcast, as a half-hour show every Friday. You would have full reign over what goes in, we just have ideas. I think the podcast is an awesome idea, I just want to help by adding a special feature to it.

n00b Jan 3, 2006 01:47 PM

Oh totally misunderstood that.
I thought Carrotus wireless would be the whole thing, anyways sorry about the mixup. Continue doing your pilot with Crimi, and we'll have an open critiwue on it to see what could be improved before the release of the first podcast. Or something like that

Sonyk Jan 3, 2006 02:00 PM

Thirty minutes is pretty long for a feature on a podcast. ...30 minutes is pretty long for a podcast in general.

Poweruser.tv is around 50 minutes long.

n00b Jan 3, 2006 02:04 PM

Gaiacast is about an hour an episode.

CrimiClown Jan 3, 2006 02:05 PM

I can fill up enough time talking, if needed. =D

ShadeJackrabbit Jan 3, 2006 02:36 PM

What's a pod-cast again?

CrimiClown Jan 3, 2006 02:40 PM

www.dictionairy.com

Sonyk Jan 3, 2006 02:40 PM

Point taken, but I think it's going to be pretty hard to find a lot to talk about from the community.

Odin Jan 3, 2006 02:43 PM

A podcast is a transmission from a computer or iPod to be picked up on another iPod.

ShadeJackrabbit Jan 3, 2006 02:46 PM

Oh, okay. (If only they didn't cost like 300$. iPods that is.)

Fawriel Jan 3, 2006 02:51 PM

*ahem*

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podcast

"A podcast is a web feed of audio or video files placed on the Internet for anyone to subscribe to. Podcasters' websites also may offer direct download of their files, but the subscription feed of automatically delivered new content is what distinguishes a podcast from a simple download or real-time streaming (see below)." -the article

That works, though before there were known as Shoutcasts.

Podcasts work on all MP3 players. It's just downloaded audio.
Heck you dont even need a MP3 player, just listen to it off your computer

ShadeJackrabbit Jan 3, 2006 03:12 PM

Really? Oh, cool.

FQuist Jan 4, 2006 03:39 PM

It seems like 30 minutes sounds pretty ambitious. Not saying it should be less, but do think about:

1. The issues with getting people with lots of things they want to do (and who may want to have their sound used for playing music or playing jj2) to spend half an hour of attention. That's *long*
2. The issues with filling half an hour with material good enough to keep people's attention, and keeping that up for several weeks.

Myself I would be a little less ambitious and focus on making the podcast focused, short and to the point - to maximise attention and the people listening. You don't have to give up quality to have it shorter. Or you could provide versions with additional music etc. and without.

Odin Jan 4, 2006 07:11 PM

Me and CrimiClown decided that it'll be just 20 minutes. Also, we made a quick draft of what the show might have:

-This week in PWNAGE
-Download recommendation of the week
-Interviews
-Advertisements for various goods and services in the Jazz community

Sonyk Jan 4, 2006 07:46 PM

You're probably going to run out of the last two pretty fast. It still seems long to me, but who am I to judge?

As you all know, the download section has been dead for months. This might be the opportunity to get some more interest in level making. =D
