Weird Backhoe

yes, I found this on another forum

Russian backhoe, edited to have four 'hoes instead of one. Dad say it probably works better than the wheeled variant!

Cpp Aug 15, 2006 10:56 PM

Woah! Spiderbot doser football with a tire! That's my car of dream there ^^

Doubble Dutch Aug 16, 2006 03:38 AM

Give me less rust and some more spikes and perhaps I'd take it.

I prefer:

Fawriel Aug 16, 2006 05:37 AM

I have no idea what that is, but I want it!

Radium Aug 16, 2006 06:24 AM

DoubleD, Puffy's spider could take on your dumptruck house any day.

ThunderPX Aug 16, 2006 01:54 PM

'Giant enemy crab' were my first thoughts.

FQuist Aug 16, 2006 06:14 PM

I'm afraid you're going to lose, DD.

Actually, I can run over his spider any day.

And Fquist; how are you actually planning on moving that miner? It needs a support crew of 128 people just to run. Imma drive up behind it and sever its fuel lines.

Stijn: avoid quoting giant images

Puffie40 Aug 17, 2006 03:30 PM

Double dutch, Ye should cower, as Sparwood is not 300 klicks from me, and is easy pickin's for my spider backhoe and the backup bulldozer! YOUR TRUCKS MINE!! :D

That thing's pretty big.

Fawriel Aug 17, 2006 07:13 PM

Just try to picture the cost of the insurance or even the garage for that thing... *rubs chin*
Besides, the design of the Death Star is somewhat old-fashioned, innit?

Strato Aug 17, 2006 07:25 PM

That design is. It's not even finished.

...so, is this backhoe real? It doesn't look too functional, more like an easter egg enemy from some sci-fi game.

Xobim Aug 18, 2006 09:49 AM

Probably. Man has made crazier machinery...

The forum Puffy linked to says it's a render. Which, if you study it hard enough, is quite believable.

Fawriel Aug 18, 2006 10:22 AM

Yeah, I thought it looked like something made with a 3d graphics program..
...those shovels would be horribly inefficient as a means of transportation anyway.

On a road. I think in the hands of a skilled pilot it could handle something like a canyon very well.

Xobim Aug 18, 2006 12:20 PM

And you can park a car under it if you raise the cabin!

And cut your transportation fees in half!:D "No Officer, there is no spider trying to eat my car!"

You are absolutly correct. While the four-legged backhoe might be a edited picture, there are in fact "Walking Excavators" that are used to manuver difficult terrain. (They are fairly common in europe, but not around here)

They have wheels on one end and use the stabilizers on the front of the excavator to "Walk" along. All four legs are independantly operated to help level the machine out

This page describes them nicely

Xobim Aug 19, 2006 06:41 AM

Those machines are used in Finland too, but those have six legs and an arm to cut down trees. Pretty unusual that America doesn't have "spiderhoes"...

Doubble Dutch Aug 19, 2006 03:56 PM

My truck is a real picture, it owns t3h renders.

The biggest machines we have in my country are for mining coal; they're like, 20-40 tons max, but we have the advantage that you'd actually have to *ship* your machines over here first.
