Why was this closed? It seemed to be a good enough idea, and there's no clue to why it was killed.

The Birthday thread wasn't closed...

Because a thread with only replies like "hey" or "welcome" doesn't contribute much to the forum and seems kind of pointless to me.

The birthday thread is there because we wanted to decrease the amount of birthday threads cluttering the topics list (it's kind of a tradition here, congratulating people with their birthdays) and a central thread seemed like a good way to do that. We seriously thought about forbidding birthday threads overall, but in the end decided to go for the thread.

Personally, I feel a welcome thread is better than say, welcoming them in their first topic.

So the "Interracial sex" topic is okay while a welcome thread is not?

What do you have against interracial sex cooba? ><

I kind of agree with noob. And it seems hospitable, IMO.

Me too. I was trying to be kind to all the newbies on the forums.
I hope this thread doesn't turn out to be an arguement or flamewar...
