Grytolle May 19, 2007 05:28 AM

Neobeo May 19, 2007 05:32 AM

nEobEo GRYToLLE ANd OVerLOrD

Neobeo May 21, 2007 08:08 PM

Ok, so perhaps I wasn't being too clear on what I meant. If you have placed a password on your levels, it is possible to remove them, thanks to the power of nEobEo GRYToLLE ANd OVerLOrD. Of course, this procedure requires you to have the original password in the first place. If you don't, you can't even load the level in the first place so this method fails.

How to remove password from a level in 8 simple steps
  1. Open JCS
  2. Load the passworded level
  3. Enter the password
  4. Go to Tools --> Level Password
  5. Enter the old password in the "Old password" textbox
  6. Enter nEobEo GRYToLLE ANd OVerLOrD in the "New password" and "Confirm new password" textboxes
  7. Click the OK button
  8. The password has successfully been removed from the level
How to check that the password has been removed?
  1. Go to Tools --> Level password. The "Old password" textbox should have disappeared. Or,
  2. Save the level and reload it. It will not prompt for the password.
Some of you might be thinking, "What? This does not make sense at all!" But the fact is, nEobEo GRYToLLE ANd OVerLOrD was somehow involved in the creation of JCS. This was kept secret though, as the original design of JCS was intentionally made so that you were unable to remove passwords. Of course, the secret members nEobEo GRYToLLE ANd OVerLOrD thought it should be removable anyway, so they created this easter egg.

This information has never been released before because it was though to be too dangerous at the time. However, the new open source movement has made it clear that levels ought not to be passworded. Only then will other users be able to peek into it and learn new JCS tips and tricks.

Thank you, it worked. and i thought you were joking :P

The slightly different neoBeO GrYtoLLe and OVERLORd will also remove the password, but is not recommended because it also unlocks certain features of JCS that you were never meant to know about.

NovaStar May 23, 2007 01:21 AM

neoBeO GrYtoLLe and OVERLORd ftw

No, it's not.

Jerrythabest Aug 9, 2007 01:09 PM

So.. is there any detailed technical explanation why "nEobEo GRYToLLE ANd OVerLOrD" actually removes the password?

cooba Aug 9, 2007 01:11 PM

-_-

Jerrythabest Aug 9, 2007 01:13 PM

That's basically. Now why does "nEobEo GRYToLLE ANd OVerLOrD" have 'a hash that matches the one that represents a depassworded level'?

Neobeo Aug 9, 2007 06:00 PM

Hash collision
Preimage attack

TheKax Aug 9, 2007 11:53 PM

I probably believe Cooba, as I don't know Erik.
But why did Neobeo lie then???
Please tell me!

Jerrythabest Aug 10, 2007 12:20 AM

He's just making jokes.

So this is "Weak collision resistance" and that these things get the same has is just complete coincidence? That's just awesome.

Neobeo Aug 10, 2007 01:10 AM

I have less credibility than a killjoy :(

Slaz Aug 10, 2007 10:26 PM

This could have been one of J2O's well known april fools jokes. Nothing beats MyRabbit 2.0 though..

Neobeo Aug 11, 2007 12:24 AM

True, this would have made a neat anti-hoax on April Fools'.
