JJ2 English Lexicography project

Let's collect awesome inventive language usage like the transitive verb to ladder sb, like in: "I think they need a lot more teamwork training before they ladder RA again."

This verb is derived from the shortened form of "ladder match": a ladder, like in: "you never played a ladder, you don't even know how to join a clan on JJ NET, and you except(sic!) to play 'ANOTHER' ladder soon?". Another possibility is that whoever coined to play a ladder simply didn't get exactly what the ladder was and faultily assumed that the word referred to a single game played for the ladder.

Wallclimb

Etymology 1: From English words "wall" and "climb".
verb To wallclimb To jump and stom repeatedly as Spazz and get stuck in a wall.
Etymology 2: From English words "walk" and "limb".
verb To wallclimb To walk using various limbs.

The best verb will always be traftoning.

You make some big fancy level, and you think you did a good job. And then someone joins and immediately finds the one problem that ruins the whole thing, forcing you to fix the level or restart the game.

Congratulations, you just got traftoned.

Examples of traftoning:
  • Finding a way to destroy all of the ground in a survivor level within seconds of the game starting
  • Breaking the trigger system (usually involves hitting a bunch of crates)
  • Pointing out some obvious flaw that somehow went unnoticed
  • Breaking otherwise foolproof levels in the face of extreme statistical odds against ever doing so

Oh yes and it's also possible to Trafton things in real life, by making things go wrong in extremely improbable ways.

Grytolle Sep 30, 2010 01:21 AM

another nice one is the verb "back":

i will back later, ok?

and the misleading preposition "for"
i will be back maybe for 2 hours, but i will be back

Jgke Sep 30, 2010 03:31 AM

'brb'
Be right back. For some reason, the timelimit might be over two hours on this one.

TheKax Sep 30, 2010 07:55 AM

Verb: To idle
Meaning: Not doing nothing, instead, constantly chatting (mostly telling jokes about other players on the server) and winning GF games.

(You find this an advertisemnt for one of the J2O articles? Yeah? It is, since the tactic of idling really does make you win games. Try.)

SR'ing, to say "get hit" in every duel..

Grytolle Oct 1, 2010 04:04 AM

dunno what ur talking about man

spaceboy Oct 1, 2010 04:29 AM

chuj'ing, the act of darklight coming to a server

Jerrythabest Oct 1, 2010 11:38 AM

To negrep sb:
The act of reducing someone's reputation by means of stating one's disagreement through the JCF/vBulletin Reputation Feature.

spaceboy Oct 1, 2010 11:50 AM

RR'ing, to stay as the only person in yr clan for years but never let it die

SB'ing, to still have a higher reputation than Jerrythabest's who said he'll neg rep me.

Jerrythabest Oct 1, 2010 12:11 PM

For the record, with 'sb' I meant SomeBody, not SpaceBoy.

Sorry for being not very clear there. I guess this is why everyone's against the reputation feature. Now I got negrepped while I didn't mean to offend anyone. :(

Black Ninja Oct 1, 2010 12:14 PM

Jerry: sb can mean anything to someone who's looking to pick a negrep fight.

spaceboy Oct 1, 2010 12:53 PM

Seriously though, people (well, I'm sure it's just a particular person, but still) have been negrepping me with the comment "the worst human being alive" more than once. I didn't even mention it anywhere till now. I just wouldn't care less about reputation, and like I stated in the rep thread, I'd like to become the king of neg rep in this place. You guys just need to stop whining about a few pixels on the side of the screen..

The thought that anyone would consider someone on this forum the worst person alive is just ... wow

Someone should let all of the murderers, rapists, and tyrants know that they've been bested.

Speeza Oct 2, 2010 06:30 PM

Looks like closing the rep thread didn't do much at all.

[GpW]Urbs Oct 4, 2010 06:19 AM

Uhm, I'm actually just posting to see what score I have on this new spiffy reputation-o-meter thingy.

[GpW]Urbs Oct 4, 2010 06:20 AM

(-)(-)(-) 10?
how does one go about pumping that baby up?

Speeza Oct 4, 2010 06:35 AM

10 is default and because you haven't posted in a while people can't see anything recent you have posted.

Just like in real life you have to get around a bit to increase your e-peen. I'm going to give you a curtisy e-han-job. Oh and look your e-peen is now bigger.

(ofc this is a joke but i'm sure anyone would of realized that and not taken it too seriously ;) , if you couldn't tell, the real way to get rep is to just post helpful things, crack a few jokes that people will understand, try using images when cracking jokes it normally helps a lot more from what I've seen so far)

[GpW]Urbs Oct 5, 2010 10:09 AM

it takes a lot of work to get that sucer to a reputable number... look at it, its gained like nothing since yesterday!

Grytolle Oct 11, 2010 06:11 AM

you're not supposed to make words up, guys

brb seems to have taken on a generalized meaning: someone just said "brb at 21" to me (said at 16.10)

Shelly Oct 12, 2010 04:28 PM

and more importantly:
victor: plz exit me spectator mode

to exit sb sth

Vegito Feb 8, 2011 04:50 PM

The same guy said 'Plz exit me'

Obviously I was mean and kicked him out instead. Hey, he wanted to 'exit' .. right?

[GpW]Urbs Feb 9, 2011 06:10 AM

2v2
2 red players 2 blue players:)

to victorize: to state the bloody obvious without being conscious of doing so and thus enducing LOLing amongst the rest

[GpW]Urbs Feb 9, 2011 06:13 AM

Boom baby: to come up with an unlikely feat of brilliance usually after having already made a series of bad calls and mistakes, yet still somehow being able to remedy the situation. Used primarily by Slovenian JJ2 players on CTF team games quite often. More well known in the TS part of the community.

[GpW]Urbs Feb 9, 2011 06:15 AM

tiu = is fast becoming the new two. The slight mis-pronounciation makes "tiu" very appealing amongst the internet geek community.

Every single player can do this in one certain level hosted in Zeal Beta :p
Just go and try, it's harder to keep even one block left to stand on.

Ashurna May 17, 2011 06:39 PM

solo= a word used by the more stat obsessed players after they score sometimes; as if they had accomplished a great feat, or done something that was not expected of them.

Sean May 17, 2011 06:44 PM

Noob = A word used to mean practically anyone
