custom music

alright so i downloaded jazz2+ which is supposdly supposed to let me use mp3 music files in my maps. I told it JCS to the name of my in flames song which would be the jesters dance. and nothing is happening....

  • Is the filename you input in JCS exactly the filename of the actual music file?
  • Are you including ".mp3" at the end?
  • Are you sure you're running the plusified JJ2 and not a backup copy?
  • Is Music on?

To elaborate on this point: when you run a level from JCS.exe (as in, by using "save and run") you it will always launch Jazz2.exe. Therefore, if your copy of JJ2+ is called Jazz2+.exe, JCS will not run it.

If so, just rename the JJ2+ exe to "Jazz2.exe" and backup the original. That way, JCS will always launch JJ2+. There's no harm doing this, and in fact, you probably won't ever want to run the unpatched JJ2 anyway.

The game would crash if he's not using JJ2+, I believe, so it's not that.

Jgke Nov 8, 2010 04:56 AM

It doesn't, if the level is run from JCS. I don't know why.

Also, make sure the music file is actually in the Jazz2 directory in the first place.

Oh, didn't know this, thanks, even though I doubt it can ever appear useful for me.

That shouldn't be happening. Did you make it so that Jazz2.exe is your JJ2+ exe?

Jgke Nov 8, 2010 07:59 AM

The music doesn't play. I think, atleast.

minmay Nov 8, 2010 08:38 AM

If the game can't find the music file, it won't crash. Your JCS is probably running a Jazz2.exe that's in the wrong directory.

Jgke Nov 8, 2010 11:29 AM

Now when I think of it, it might've been that. I edit files in the 1.23 JCS and save them on 1.24 folder.

JnAkers Nov 8, 2010 03:57 PM

My jazz2+ has been renamed to Jazz2. jcs is in the same folder of the renamed Jazz+
And the music is in the same folder
its an mp3 off a cd.

minmay Nov 8, 2010 05:09 PM

Try it with a different MP3 and tell us if that works.

JnAkers Nov 9, 2010 03:17 PM

Yes i tried it again. and it was sucess! thank you.

Toni Nov 10, 2010 10:00 AM

maybe the 1st song wasn't .mp3 :P

LegendaryDreamer Nov 10, 2010 05:50 PM

For future reference, if needed, make sure the music file is located in the same folder as the Jazz2(+).exe you're running.

Jazz2+ can play:
.MP1/MP2/MP3
.OGG
.WAV
.AIFF
.J2B
.XM
.IT
.S3M
.MOD

and any more I might've forgotten.
