A sign that Jazz is growing

Prompted by Magoo's thread that Jazz is dying, I thought that maybe this would change a few thoughts of people.

As this shows, J2o is constantly growing getting more and more visits each month. March there were 575 visits a day on average. And you say Jazz is dead. :P

FireSworD Apr 10, 2002 11:12 AM

Great! if Jazz is growing then i'll have more adversaries to beat! :D

||Slim Apr 10, 2002 12:00 PM

kewl

MaGoo Apr 10, 2002 12:41 PM

Well, I can't argue opinion with fact now can I? *Secretly deletes his opinion-based thread* :P

FireSworD Apr 10, 2002 02:21 PM

But why is it growing so much now? why is there so much interest in Jazz2 now?

Tik Apr 10, 2002 03:35 PM

My only question is how many of those hits are from thinking this is a music-jazz site. Other than that, uber spiffy.

Bobby aka Dizzy Apr 10, 2002 05:41 PM

Actually on the search thing for the page, there are only like 12 things and most are for jazz jackrabbit or something related, none for jazz music :P

FoD Apr 10, 2002 06:07 PM

Now if only you had a chart for people playing Jazz. That would make seeing believing. This is the site. I play Jazz2 VERY rarely, but I visit the site. It means nothing.

Krezack Apr 10, 2002 10:03 PM

Not to mention spiffy juice.....many hits could be from that.

Heh JCF is live and kicking, JJ2 is dead and rotting =P

White Rabbit Apr 11, 2002 07:04 AM

Just because J2o gets more visitors doesn't mean JJ2 is growing. The ppl visiting it might be the same ppl and not new ones.

Get it? :P

defalcon Apr 11, 2002 07:29 AM

Well, if it is the same people it means they're visiting more fequently - a sign of growing interest.

CannibalBob Apr 11, 2002 02:31 PM

True, but...

That is true, according to the stats, but are they hits as a total or hit per user? Some people may visit J2O more because it's the only reliable and GOOD Jazz2 site out now, so they visit it more often to check news, downloads, reviews and post stuff they made.

Another Jazz 2 fan Apr 11, 2002 02:55 PM

Hey, I visit it daily now, sometimes more than once! I didn't used to get online as often in the past. (Back when I had to use the phone line. Now we have cable!) Of course, I'm just one in many. Is anyone else visiting more frequently now?

Bobby aka Dizzy Apr 11, 2002 03:42 PM

A hit itself is just a request from the server for a file. So images, zipped files are all hits. With all the images on an HTML page you get a lot of hits from one visit.

Another Jazz 2 fan Apr 11, 2002 04:15 PM

So then it could be just me.

WMCoolmon Apr 11, 2002 06:00 PM

Hmm...I really started visiting J2O in February/March... :D

That's why you gotsa check the log to see who's visiting, where they came from, and how many time's they've visited. That's a better way to see if it's growing.

You should put on a counter hidden on the main page that counts unique hits.

Bobby aka Dizzy Apr 16, 2002 04:40 PM

That's what the visit column is for :P

..::Goldy::.. Apr 18, 2002 06:02 AM

wow, never knew so many people visited j2o, nice to know :)

ShadowGPW Apr 18, 2002 06:13 AM

Interesting.. :P

Unhit Apr 18, 2002 08:25 AM

Nice. I already wondered if there isn't anything like that.

dopeh Apr 18, 2002 09:41 AM

or someone is just spamming around and is refreshing the whole time :P could be another possibility or whatever. heh. nah well, a good sign I suppose not?

Tik Apr 18, 2002 02:25 PM

Oh, BTW, spiffyjuice is pretty small, probably only a couple thousand of those raw hits (if it includes every single file and image, etc) are from spiffyjuice. SJ also only gets about 500 hits a week, so it would have very little to do with that counter.

Unhit Apr 18, 2002 11:32 PM

Are IPs or clicks counted?

dopeh Apr 19, 2002 07:53 AM

http://www.mrunix.net/webalizer/

there's the one they are using.

Krezack Apr 19, 2002 09:47 AM

Maybe......anyway the jj2 community will survive, not many.....*prepares to be flamed* crappy games survive this long. I mean crappy because compared to the many other games it IS crappy....thats not to say it isn't fun.

Ninja May 3, 2002 08:58 AM

Lets all honor Krezack for being the person having the most "crappys" in a post!
YaY!
Happy birthday to j00 happy birthday to U happy b-day dear mother-chunka-holic happy birthday to YOU!

Krezack May 3, 2002 04:03 PM

Fix the html in your sig.

Lama May 5, 2002 03:25 AM

Assuming the answer to Unhit's question is going to be yes, how many unique IPs are there? That should be a good* measure of the number of different people that visit the site.

*good does not mean perfect or exact

FireSworD May 5, 2002 06:38 AM

Ok, ok i admit i have a habit of going back and fourth from the JCF and J2O i... I like to check out both sites at the same time :D :P

Atmcdragon May 5, 2002 10:55 AM

AH Fiddlesticks, and me without my CD

The March Hare May 14, 2002 08:14 AM

I know why the visit counts were so high in February/March. Those were the months when I visited like crazy. And then I stopped in April. See? The visit counts obviously follow my visiting habits. So you can thank ME for such high numbers.

I'll be signing autographs in the Misc. forum.

Be there or else.

:D

Unhit May 14, 2002 10:38 AM

Hmm...even if different IPs were counted, about five visits a day would be by me. Because I don't have a flatrate or something, I often log in for short times- but still check J2O ;P!

4I Falcon May 14, 2002 12:26 PM

even though i can't play jj2 anymore 'cuz of mah shoopid compy...

... *kicks computer* DIE YOU MONKEY!...ahem...

i still come to j2o to see if there's anything new, which there is... a lot...
