Yays! Isn't this *interesting*

And so long as I'm not doing the actual work I really don't care how pointless or interesting the results are.

Also; I'm wondering this as I've asked this before; in JJ1 is it possible to get all of the items and enemies in Tubelectric 2 and Sluggion 2?

Kays thnx

Well, first I asked a hobo if he knew how to get to Sluggion, and he said no.
We tried to replicate the levels in the JCS and failed. We played the levels in JJ1 and had a great time, which was amazingly fun

In the end we said to heck with actually editing the levels in JJ1. So:

Spaz as Favorite?

Is Spaz really the most favourite playing-character from the average JJ2-fan?
For this question we have opened a poll and this are the results:

Jazz Jackrabbit 21.21%
Spaz Jackrabbit 60.61%
Lori Jackrabbit 6.06%
I have no opinion / I do not wish to vote / I can't make up my mind 12.12%

It is obvious. Spaz is really the favourite one. This myth is Confirmed, with thanks to everyone that has voted! Thank you!

End result: Myth CONFIRMED

Greetings,
JazzBusters
You're wasting time. There have been plenty of polls showing that more people choose Spaz to play with because he can jump higher and has a better special attack (In their opinion). I think JazzBusters needs to be busted...

I'm not being a negative nancy on them personally or their Jazzbustering(which has greatly improved since the J2O downloads phase), I'm just being a negative nancy on their claim of 75 myths.
Let's make a deal: You stop being a drama llama on people being negative nancies, and I'll stop being a negative nancy on their ridiculous claim of 75 myths busted.

Here's the re-test of the Trigger Myth from the first page. Read and learn if you haven't done so.

Quote:

Trigger Crate: the standard trigger mechanism. Only goes one way (you can't use another crate to reset the trigger), works with ID=0.

Trigger Zone: the other trigger mechanism. Has three parameters: OnOff, Switch, ID. OnOff is what reverses the trigger: OnOff = 1 is the regular setting, OnOff = 0 resets the trigger. Switch is useless, and you know the ID parameter. Trigger Zones do not work when ID = 0, *THAT* is what the DYK? was refering to.

(...)

What I did was this:

Experiment 1:

Trigger Scenery with ID = 0
Trigger Zone with ID = 0, OnOff = 1

Result:
After walking through the Trigger Zone nothing happened: nothing triggered.

Experiment 2:

Trigger Scenery with ID = 1
Trigger Zone with ID = 1, OnOff = 1

Result:
This time the Scenery did trigger

Experiment 3

Trigger Scenery with ID = 0
Trigger Crate with ID = 0

Result:
After destroying the crate the Scenery was triggered.

Conclusion: Only Trigger Zones don't work when ID = 0, Trigger Crates do work.

Myth Confirmed.
By the way, the key to a good and working profession is to be able to take criticism, be it good or bad (especially the bad). As I read the first rule, I get the feel you're like "We're professionals, you're just idiots, neener neener neener".

Successful Jazz2Online

Goodmorning everyone! This time we've sended an e-mail to ourself. We like to know, is JJ2Online really a success? For this 'myth' we have revealed the member list.

We have count the members. The member list has 172 pages now.
171 with each thirty nicknames of members in it. The 172th has seventeen members.

This site has a total of 5147 members! Started in 2001 and now, on 16th April 2006, at 8.43 (Dutch time) 5147 members.
So, this myth is... CONFIRMED!

So, Bobby aka Dizzy, Captain Spam, Cheeze, Derby, Disguise, EvilMike, Fquist, Genotoxin aka iCeD, graphixJJF, Link, NebulaUOI, Newspaz, Spaztic, Trafton, Trafton AT and Violet CLM, congrats with your website. It is a big success!

End result: Myth CONFIRMED

Is that really the best of methods? Shouldn't you be counting out the nonactive accounts or the accounts that don't have any posts, and all the accounts that are multis/old versions of active people's accounts? I mean, that number is kind of misleading, when you take into account how many people have old versions of their accounts which they have lost the password or email for, and how some people used to be fond of creating fake new accounts for pranks, and how many of the people were just random new people who left after making a thread or two.

Not only that, they're taking opinions and are treating them as facts, which is a big no-no when it comes to researching. Plus, they've made another mistake of confusing "success" with "popularity". Success is when you achieve a certain expected goal, popularity is based on how many people like a certain thing. With those two in mind, let's try again:

Myth
Jazz2Online is a success (in what view? Amount of members? Downloads? Features?)

Experiment
Ask the creators if they think it's a success.

Plain and simple. Now the other:

Myth
Jazz2Online is popular (another statement influenced by opinions)

Facts
Over 4 years, J2O has 171 pages with 30 User Accounts each, plus 17 on the 172nd page. That makes a total of 5147 Accounts. (Not all of them are active however. Estimate?). The downloads section has 111 pages with 20 dowloads each, the 112nd has 2. That makes a total of 2222 downloads (Correct me if I'm wrong)

Experiment
Compare those facts with fan sites for other popular games, like Unreal, Sonic, Mario, the works.

Plain and simple.

I would want to test that myth, I think it's rather wrong - most sections are regularly updated in some way. But then again, reality is silly for intervening when a statement just sounds *good*.

Well, all we need to do is count the number of accounts that have posted here in say, the last year. We call these 'alive' and we see what percentage they are.

Probbably between 10-20%, but I'm only guesstimating.

Exclamation ZAPPER's Glitches

Zapper have sended us 35 gliches. We will test them for him. No description of the test, because the file will be too long then. Only the end result.

1.When you play Co-op, if one person dies, he will be standing in the next level. If he gets a 1up or carrot, he will come back to life.
End result: Myth CONFIRMED

2.If you get hurt while fighting the Tuf Turt Boss, then stand on him and sidekick as Spaz, you can keep sidekicking without getting hurt.
End result: Myth PLAUSIBLE

3.While fighting devon shell, if you shoot him and then stomp on him, he will lose about 30 - 50% of his health. He will gain it back if you shoot him.
End result: Myth CONFIRMED

4.Changing resolutions in a level with a translucent textured background may make your JJ2 crash.
End result: Myth PLAUSIBLE

5.You can place Warp Target events on any tile of a level and it will still work.
End result: Myth CONFIRMED

6.Flip an animated tile with a Trigger/Destruct/etc event on it and - wooosh - JJ2 will crash!
End result: Myth RE-BUSTED (we have tested it earlier)

7.You can stand on a big rock/box when it's infinite falling.
End result: Myth PLAUSIBLE (it is extremely inprobable)

8.If you do the "make Jazz a spaceship" thing and go near a "Fat Chick" enemie, she'll SLAP the spaceship about 100 metres, (if this were real life,) across the room!
End result: Myth BUSTED

9.animated tiles can be added to Layer 8 while using a textured background.
End result: Myth PLAUSIBLE (the game can crash)

10.Using more than four animations in a 1020 tile tileset doesn't always make JJ2 crash like you would expect it to.
End result: Myth CONFIRMED

11.If you leave Jazz2 on for about 3 hours at the Player Edit Screen, the game goes Crazy Colours! (Only works on certain video cards.)
End result: Myth BUSTED

12.When two people try to access the same h-pole at once, one of them might get stuck in the floor.
End result: Myth PLAUSIBLE

13.After a float lizard has lost its helicopter thing, but before it hits the ground, it takes many hits to kill it. And if you sidekick a ex-float lizard when it has turned into a normal lizard, you will fly up in the air as if it was still floating, not as if it was a normal lizard.
End result: Myth CONFIRMED

14.Super red gems respawn in coop. Might be intended though
End result: Myth CONFIRMED

15.Another common bug is getting stuck into horisontally v-shaped walls >
End result: Myth CONFIRMED

16.If you get hurt while grabbing a pole you can sometimes get stuck in the floor
End result: Myth CONFIRMED

17.the blue bullet bouncers going through walls is also a bug.
End result: Myth PLAUSIBLE

18.Devan can sometimes jump into/through walls
End result: Myth CONFIRMED

19.When you kill the Queen, the level will not end. Additionally, if you go back to near when she was, she will respawn and you will be forced back behind the "force field" that prevents you from getting past her - sometimes into walls.
End result: Myth PLAUSIBLE (if you go far enough to the right or up, it doesn't happen)

20.Turtle shells get can get stuck in springs
End result: Myth CONFIRMED

21.If you fall on a vine you can sometimes fall through it, this bug is a plague if you use the jj2 medivo tileset
End result: Myth PLAUSIBLE

22.Fish float in the air if they aren't in water, but if they could fly they would chase you out of the water too in water levels..
End result: Myth PLAUSIBLE (inprobable)

23.The Beeboys sometimes lag, sometimes don't appear, and sometimes stay still floating in the air. The raven stays still sometimes too.
End result: Myth PLAUSIBLE

24.When you warp to a tile just below/right of a wall, you will get stuck.
End result: Myth PLAUSIBLE (only value for one tile right or below the block)

25.If you have water in a level, after you activate the water, above-water lighting won't work
End result: Myth BUSTED

26.If you enter a bonus level using any other event than bonus level signpost, after you complete the bonus level, you will go back to the bonus level event in the previous level and keep re-entering the bonus level every time you complete it.
End result: Myth CONFIRMED (stupid bug. For Bonus-levels, use the Bonus Level-signpost. Shoot on it to enter the secret level)

27.When you freeze the robot boss, it will stay frozen. But I'm not sure if this is a bug.
End result: Myth BUSTED (it will not stay frozen, but it is only turned of and you can destroy it very quickly)

28.Sometimes if you end a level as a frog, you won't get to the next level before you use jjnxt
End result: Myth BUSTED (it will happen always, not sometimes. And if you finish the level with a bird, it is gameover)

29.if you got 100 gems, you supposidly go to the secret level of a stage. It doesn't work. And it says that in the manual, (for 1.23, I have it. I mean the 100 gems thing. Not the not working part.)
End result: Myth CONFIRMED

30.If you have a powerup, (like bouncer powerup,) that regenerates, you can shoot it again and again and get over the max shots! (eg. 246 x ()())
End result: Myth BUSTED

31.Lori can't use the copter event. When you try to get it, she'll fall down. (Sometimes isn't true.)
End result: Myth CONFIRMED (tip: put an Morph-event with Generator at each Copter)

32.A bug in co-op, if all players die and it's game over for all of them, the game won't go to the play or die screen (with the grave and the mushroom house). They will just lie down there and stay dead.
End result: Myth CONFIRMED

33. Sometimes, if you shoot Devon Shell as he transforms, he'll die and you beat the level.
End result: Myth PLAUSIBLE (it is only possible if you stomp it first lots of times and shoot on it when he turnes to his second form. And only that is pretty inprobable)

34.If you stomp while one of bilsy's fireballs is flying at you. You can stomp on the fireball, (only when you start to stomp,) and you won't get hurt.!
End result: Myth PLAUSIBLE

35.If you press "Esc" or "t", (the chat button,) while running or shooting, it acts like you are holding down the apropriet button!
End result: Myth BUSTED

I didn't care to read through it all, but 35 is 'confirmed'. Try multiplayer sometime... Why else would he mention 't'...?
