Very regrettable this is, if Jazz2 truly is slowly disminishing. I'll try do my part to keep it and the community alive with something I do better than talking

Epic games only have the responsibility for the unreal games, what ive seen, but they let the old titles go to epic classics. although, then cant say that they never made jazz jackrabbit, cause they have.

Jazz 2's community has been decreasing in size by about 15% in size every six months since about 2001. This sounds bad at first, but six months is a long time on the Internet and 10% isn't that much. In fact, mathematically, that would mean it is about 32% the size that it used to be, which is probably right.

The game is harder to measure. The amount of short-fuse n00bs really is what dictates how many people are playing, not the players that really count to the community. It is much harder to gauge.

But, the fact remains, as long as the community is living, the game probably will be, too. Even if it isn't as active.

That would mean it would eventually stop shrinking. Yay

I didn't say the pattern was linear. It's been true thus far, but obviously when it gets down to about 10 people the game is functionally dead.

Yes. Logic agrees that the number can't go lower than 0.

Actually logic suggests that it would never reach zero; there would always be a community out there.

Quote:
I didn't say the pattern was linear.
Indeed, its exponential decay.

Now then, as an exponential decay curve, the current population is given by [origional population] x [1 - decay]^[current time/6 months]

As such, the community is now at 27% of the origional [or it will be at about december.] The community will require 37 months to reduce to 10%; 5 years to reduce to 5% and 10 years to reduce to 1% [about which time the game will become functionally dead.] You should be the last Jazz fan in about 20 years.

Since the dawn of time there have been topics about JJ2 dying. Some things never change I guess.

Seriously, makes me wish this game was dead enough for people to actually stop posting them.

@R3ptile: 5 servers with 8 people in them each IS dead, back in the good old days there used to be pages of servers 24/7 (I know because I've spent many sleepless nights playing JJ2 for insane amounts of time.

JJ2 is really dying. Nowadays you don't always see servers, I used to play JJ2 a lot, but now less people are playing online. I once saw 9 servers listed (I was bored cuz I didn't have 1.23). J2O, JCF and JDC are keeping JJ2 alive. I'm waiting for JDC where you can see many people. (heh) and I couldn't play in tournaments cuz I didn't have 1.23, next summer it'll be more fun cuz I now have 1.23

We have a lot of people in our community, it just that most of them are too lazy to play jj2 or can't because of router problems.

You are so lucky to have seen the that. These days chances are, you won't see a single server.

I think it's inevitable that JJ2 is dying, and complaining about it won't help. Come on, nothing last forever. Bear baiting was popular but can you see it on TV now? I bet that some day, in the future, JJ2 will be banned because it's anti-turtle or something because the ruler of the world happens to have turtles for pets. But on the bright side, let's say that the ruler of the world doesn't have pet turtles althouh JJ2 will sooner or later turn into a shadow of its former shadow of its former self. Old games like Doom are still played, and even Pong and, correct me if I'm wrong, JJ2 is better than any other game oldie game and is the best platform game EVER. Ppl won't forget about it and therefore JJ2 will never die. Erm, hopefully.

It's when you tie a bear to a pole and release loads of hounds to kill it. The hounds will often get killed or mutilated because they're not strong enough to stand up to the bear so the bear is often disabled by cutting of his claws/breaking his jaw or something.

@Unknown Rabbit.

Well, lately there seems to be a lot of idle servers where the host is gone and ppl just mess around in it. At least that's what I see when I check gip. Maybe you live somewhere fun like in America and play in servers when I'm asleep or something...

I think jazz's is going down... You guys can't face the fact that its going down so you keep creating more and more levels that are more stratagy than battling(The basic fundamental of jazz) Just the other day I was on jazz looking at some of the servers I went into it and it had everyone playing some stupid game where u bet money...I hope someone thinks of something better than that for jazz...

Really? I lost interest in Single Player in 1998 and actually started playing online in 2004.
