First 5 Planets

!!! Page Claim !!!

i was wondering if the community can provide me with a top 5 list of jazz1 planets so we can think about making a start on the first couple of maps/arena's.

its a long time ago someone new joined our crew. basicly its just me and McDougal and some people on the razzA forum.

who could help us with:

making good looking maps for worlds/arena's
(i mean the final maps that we are gonna use in the game, not some test map like the crap i made)

Making models,
for now we need 2 new models:
The Jazz01 spaceship and some bigger spaceship (lets say jazz02) in the same style.

who want to join our crew?

I'm making some stuff ever since the project was started, it's just that 99% of it doesn't get used. =* My top list of planets:
1. Fanolint
2. Crysilis
3. Orbitus
4. Technoir
5. Tubelectric

Quake 3's going opensource soon, so we don't have to worry TOO much.

Top 5 Planets, huh?
(In no particular order)
1. Medivo
2. Industrious
3. Candion
4. Crylisis
5. Diamondus

And, it sounds neat to make the maps, but I don't think I'd be able too. Ah well.

I wish I could help, but I'm not a good artist and I don't know how to make things in 3-D modelling programs like Milk3-D and stuff like that. Sorry

The most popular JJ1 planets are probably Diamondus (level-wise) and Tubelectric (remix-wise). After that, we probably all have our own picks... I know I find Crysilis awesome.

It would seem as Crysilis and Medivo are the most popular. But, how would you fit a 2d game's tiles into a 3d games landscape?

By modeling the tileset.
Does the tileset have trees? Model 3d trees that look simmilar.
Does the Tileset have rabbit statues and marble faces/tounges? Then model those.
Does the tileset have pipes? Model those pipes.

Okay, good point. But, with Jazz 2 I assume it'd be easier than with Jazz 1. Ah well.

How so? Jazz 1's tiles are less complex, and theres not alot that should be extremely hard to model. The Jazz 2 tilesets have much more complex tiles such as Huts, Gargoyles, Lab Tubes, Caslte slides, Dancing mushrooms and flowers, large carrots, etc.
The most complex thing I can think of off the top of my head is probally the stautes on Marbelra or the Glassed Mutated plants on Fanolint.

That was my point, there's less to use, so you'd be seeing a lot of repititon.

Looking at the two versions of Diamondus(jj1, and jj2) It's mostly redone tiles, tiles added for the engine, and a few new animated tiles. Therefore, you would have to add in new things, or miracosly find JJ2-styled versions of all the JJ1 planets.

Razz Arena is not a jazz2 port in 3D.
Its a game based upon both versions.
so whatever is cool in jazz2 we will use. same for jazz1

The new Jazz model shown on the fornt page is awesome. Can't say much about battle1 though, as it's hard to judge the gameplay of 3d maps by screenshots. It looks a little too bright, though.

dont know if i may post applets but i think this is cool:

use mouse or arrow keys to rotate the 360 degrees panorama

Derby: Applet removal. You may not post applets directly to the board.

A bit too dark. It could use some grassy model objects, too.
