Lightbulb JJ2 Community Cards

(Inspired by Black Ninja / Violet)

This might sound like a crazy idea, but what would you think about making a JJ2 Community card game? Each person from the JJ2 Community could design a card that represents him/herself, including some statistics and a description of them inside/outside JJ2. Then all the cards could be gathered together for use in a game. The game could be simple or complex, and it would be probably be coded in PHP if it were to take shape.

Even if it becomes too complicated to make as a card game, as least the cards would be a fun(ny) way to showcase the community.

This would be a community-wide project, so everyone's input counts. Optimistic views welcome, or you can just shoot the idea down if need be.

Any thoughts?

It sounds like it would be a good idea, but I'd like a few more details about the game itself before I decide.

Would all the cards use some template, or would they just be random things?

Unknown Rabbit: They would definitely have a template, so that they are formalized in some way. The person who wants a card of themself made would send in information about whats he wants on his card. Then, whomever is making the cards proofreads it and sends back a formatted card for verification.

Magoo: There is currently no rules for game mechanics yet, anyone can help to give ideas in this area. I may try to think up some ideas myself, tomorrow.

I think the game could be about JJ2 fights. It could be like the real game, where they could do a 1vs1, or a team game, or even other new made-up modes.

Each card would have an experience\skill value, which would determine how well it would do in battles. But unlike paper card games, the skill would actually go up as the card does more fights.

This would have to be designed really well though, otherwise it wouldn't work.

Not that it couldn't be fun, but making a card game simulation of a computer game begs the question: why??

Anyhow, who gets to decide the stats?

stripe: That's ok, Link was just giving an idea.

I think theplayers should have a lot of say in relation to abilities and stats, and the card makers can regulate their power if needed. Of course, this also depends on the game mechanics.

We could always use the good old MTG mechanics and create the cards in Apprentice (ah yes, this brings back memories... haven't used that in a long time). It'd be easier that way.

[EDIT: The more I think about it the more ridiculous this seems. ;P]

Like the real game? You mean: the person who has the "DizZy DM"-card creams all the others?
I kinda like the idea of cards though, but what kind of statistics would they have to include?

Oooh, let me in the team, I made tons of fake Pokémon cards, if Mirrow remembers I made some jazz2 for fun.
I could do a lot of work.
I made this blank a while ago, just for fun, I didn't think much about how the gameplay should be so I just made it like this:

That's exactly what I meant. But it would have to be regulated. Like a DizZy DM card would be much rarer then say, a Link card. But what would be really neat about doing it on computers is that each individual card could gain experience. So every time a Link card were to fight a DizZy DM card, it would get better.

Character, I don't think I need explain you what that is.
Each character should have their own special event, and there should be made tactic in other cards so you could build your own killer decks based on each character.

I found this in my ''Old Junk'' dictory, it's a text on the game I was thinking on when I wanted to give a shoot for fun:

Character-
One character card must be used in each deck.
The player chooses his or her starting character to play with and plays the character card before the game starts.

Level-
The level stays in play after you played it, discard it if another level comes into play.

Event-
This card could have any effect that would change the game.

Adventure-
This card thats in play, no other adventure cards may be played if there's an adventure card in play.
An adventure may have an effect for your opponent only.

Weapon-
This card should stay in play after play it.
It should alow you use ammo cards or have a special attack effect.

Ammo-
This card may only be played if you have a weapon that alow you play it.
You may have mutiple copies of an ammo card in your deck.

Creature-
This card may only be played to special kind of charathers.

Spell-
This card may only be played to magical charathers.

Each player starts draw 7 cards.
Once per turn, start with draw a card.
You lose by run out of cards from your deck.
You win by let your opponent run out of cards.
You have 3 moves each turn, you'll have to pass your turn when you used your 3 moves.
Your moves can be used to play a card from your hand, playing a character card or an adventure card uses 3 moves whitch skips your turn.
You may have up to 4 copies of each card in your deck, your deck must contain 60 cards, no more, no less.

No, levels is wierd on persons, that would just be ranking, not tactic.
Leave levels. It's not Pokémon, Digimon, or whatever..

Moonblaze: Cool, you've thought about this before. I thought about trying to make it an RP card game also. I am now on ICQ cause I just got out of work.

Remember, though the RP route can work, the game could also be something else completely different, like Triple Triad from FF8 (if you've played, you know it). We have complete freedom.

Also, inside jokes would be great for abilities if you give any thoughts to your card later.

Triple Triad from FF8 was really cool..
Something like that will surely kick (pancreas), and the chance to use our own heroes or people we can't stand as cards in combat will be sweet. Good luck with it.

hehe... cool. I would like something like triple triad, that rocks! But with special abilities!

*thinks* Well, the Derby card would have content edit, that would alter attacks on it, the Piccolo and Phoenix cards would have spam abilities that could lower defense, the FQuist card would have the eat your gameboy attack, etc. etc.

He did. Actually, he already had a (almost complete) set of playing rules and had drawn several cards, among those being some people we all know and love.
He posted most of the cards and rules on a board. But that was some time ago...

I have a few idea's. It's sorta like another card game. But any ways. Here are the card types:
Character: Pretty basic. They'd each get their own Attack and Defence and Health values.

Magic: This would be like Weapons, like you could equip the URJazzCC card with a Blaster power-up to double his attack. They could also include airboards for better defence (Like say add 500, but Seekers not included). Or Carrots to up your health 500. That sort of stuff.

Arenas: Some Characters would have advantages in different arena's. Like Jazz or Spaz cards.

Trap/defencive: You could have like say, the WARP card. It is only activated when one of you character cards is being attacked, and it warps them out of the way. Or The trigger Zone. It triggers a wall in front of you. Or Ricochet, which would reflect all attack back at attacking character.

Then the whole attack and defence and health thing could work like this. You take the attack of the attacking card, and subtract the defence of the card being attacked. The difference would be how much health a card would lose.

When there are no character cards out, you lose DIRECT HEALTH (Each player should have some health to start out with.) Magic cards should also effect their direct health. And when your character card is destroyed, you lose....Say.... 25% of their MAX health.

I could elaborate on this more, but I won't. I think making something like this would be pretty good. Any comments, opinions, or other ideas?

Not me. I'm a lousy coder, so if anyone else but me reads the code they won't understand it or call it rubbish .

Oh btw, I think I *can* do it, but only if there are no other volunteers.
