Low Framerates

I've never a framerate problem with JJ2. Normally, the framerate is supposed to be at 70. Now I have a max of 59 fps. If I go underwater, it goes down to 3 fps, which can get really annoying. Is it because my PC has gone too far? Or could it be driver issues?

My PC Specs:

2.8 GHZ Cpu
2 GB DDR400 RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GS (Driver Version 1.2.0.90)

I don't want to go into too much detail with that, but I would like to know if there is a fix to this problem

Thanks.

Only thing I can think of is a driver compatability issue. Try different combinations of 8- and 16-bit graphics, software and hardware mode, and with and without DirectDraw.

What's the refresh rate of your monitor? JJ2 won't go up to 70fps without a refresh rate above 60Hz, from my own experience.

Ah, that could be the issue. I'll try it out with 60 hz. It's currently set at 75hz.

UPDATE: I disabled hardware mode. That fixed it.

Thanks.

Well, it's fine now. I still have it set to 16-bit though. Software rendering is now enabled. I was always against software rendering but I guess that's what it needs to work.

Well, what I meant was setting the rate above 60Hz. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough.

The frame rate wouldn't drop based on the monitor's refresh rate. Just anything above the rate your screen refreshes could be considered wasted frames.

You could not post a new thread because on this forum, you need to have posted at least one reply before being able to post a new thread.

What you are looking for is called a "tracker". Modplug is a popular tracker, but there are others around too, which can be easily found via for example Google.

And welcome to the forums
