Description

This is my 2nd to last level in the quest to make a level in each epic tileset. It was created in about 1-2 days and while making it I discovered that you can freeze smoke rings from catepillars ;), but they still make you dizzy :(. Merry Christmas all and Happy New Year. I hope you enjoy. Thanks to Disguise for uploading this.

P.S. I (Disguise) STILL uploaded this, but Distruct was with ;)

"Pshycedelic" (yes, thats the actual name :-) is definitely one of the best battle levels ever made with the underused Psych tileset. Despite it’s really not my favourite set, i really like this level a lot. The design is very decent (open, many platforms = ZA style™) and so is the layer work. And to get the one carrot you have to pass the smoking guy, which is a good idea.

Overall, i HiGHLY RECOMMEND EVERYONE to DOWNLOAD THiS neat level by Distruct: it’s 100% pure battle fun.

Another NICE level using the Psych tileset.

The tileset itself I have never liked, but I (just with any tileset) see remarkable possibilties. This shows a lot of the possibilities. The style of design I like, the layout was cool. It just needed a few additional weapons. The caterpiller could have also been placed better. I like the eye candy, it looks good, could have been improved on Layer 4 though.

Overall DEFINITELY worth your d/l, get to it! :-)

And it’s time for ST’s random rate of the week (now using the patented UnBiased RateSys™Technology!). Yes, I will be doing a random rate using this "technology" (actually my rating system) every week now. Woo.

First of all, I’d like to say this was a great effort w/ the Psych TS. A bit underused, and a bit hard to use, but Distruct defenitely used it excellently, putting everything in their right spots and not overusing any/all of the tiles.

EYECANDY: 3/3

The layout, though, is where it starts to fall apart. There is only 1 start pos, if my testing was correct, and it seems a bit one-dimensional playing (a bit more interconnection via suckertubes may have been nice). I personally don’t like this navigation (ZA style) used this heavily, so the mark goes down there a tad, too. And I think the weapons were just a slight bit too sparce, but not too bad. The carrot was well placed, though, may I say something in favor of the level.

WEAPONS: 1.2/2
NAVIGATION: 2/4
TOTAL LAYOUT: 3.2/6

In conclusion, this was a pretty fun level, but it really didn’t "hit the spot". Try for a little more variety in the tight/loose gameplay department, and the variety of events should be expanded just slightly.

OVERALL "FEEL": 0.5/1

Closing Remarks: A good download. D/L it and host it for some variety in your servers. __

TOTAL SCORE: 6.7/10

yap Psych TS is very underused …
tough is has supercool background tiles and is not that hard to work with …
you might indeed run a bit short on weapons, but for the rest Distruct did a fine job…
keep it up…
